Guess all those liberals in San Francisco will have to just pay more for their foot longs. And probably a lot more?
Subway’s signature $5 foot-long sandwich is no more in San Francisco due to the high cost of doing business and the city’s rising minimum wage.
NBC in the Bay Area reports:
The sandwich-making chain stopped selling the five-dollar footlongs in San Francisco due to the “high cost of doing business,” according to SF Weekly.
Signs posted at Subway sandwich shops sadly inform San Francisco patrons — we hear Willie Brown is a big fan — that “all SUBWAY Restaurants in SF County DO NOT PARTICIPATE IN Subway National $5.00 Promotions,” according to the newspaper…
Apparently, the city’s new minimum wage, raised to $10.24 as of Jan. 1, make $5 footlongs an impossible business model.
Black Panther Clashes Hard with CNN
The New Black Panther Party: they exist, and they have somehow squeezed themselves into a corner of the Trayvon Martin tragedy, no matter how much no one else– particularly Martin’s parents– want them around. But they are calling for a “citizen’s arrest” of George Zimmerman and leader Minister Mikhail Muhammad spoke to Anderson Cooper today to try to explain just what his group was doing. In the process, he “indicted” Zimmerman with “1st degree murder” and accused Cooper of not “caring about the Martin family.”
“He committed murder, he committed a hate crime,” Muhammad told Cooper, explaining, “we decided to take it upon ourselves and coalition with other groups, with other black people who have had enough.” Cooper tried to explain two key faults in their plan: that Zimmerman hadn’t been charged with anything, and “Trayvon’s parents don’t want you.” Neither seemed to matter. “We are military, we are here to support Trayvon’s family,” Muhammad argued, bizarrely, later adding they weren’t really doing this for Trayvon Martin– “they have killed millions of black men and women so not only are we calling for justice for Trayvon.”
Chief Justice Says States Have Compromised Their Sovereignty
The New American
Chief Justice John Roberts said Wednesday what has long been known but seldom spoken. During the third and final day of Supreme Court hearings on whether the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 is unconstitutional, Roberts said states have been compromising their sovereignty for decades through increased reliance on the federal government for money and accompanying directions on the governance of state affairs.
“It seems to me that they have compromised their status as independent sovereigns because they are so dependent on what the federal government has done,” the chief justice said during Wednesday’s nearly three hours of hearings on the controversial health insurance law.
The final day’s arguments had to do with whether the law could stand if the justices find the mandate for uncovered individuals to purchase health insurance is unconstitutional — something the court’s conservative majority appears ready to do. Another feature of the law called into question by lawyers opposing the act is the expansion of Medicaid, the federal-state program that provides health care for low-income families. Under the Affordable Care Act, Medicaid is expanded to include a larger number of parents, as well as low-income adults with no dependent children. Half of the 32 million who would get new health insurance coverage under the law would receive it through Medicaid. Starting in 2014, the federal government would pay 100 percent of the cost of newly eligible participants. The federal share would be scaled back to 90 percent by 2020. States would still have the right to opt out of the program, but would stand to lose all of the federal funding, including the money they are already receiving. Currently all 50 state participate in the program.
“Obamacare is going to expand Medicaid, and the taxpayers absolutely can’t afford it,” Dr. Alieta Eck said at a rally against the law outside the Supreme Court. Thomas Miller, a resident fellow at the conservative American Enterprise Institute, agreed, telling the Public broadcasting Service: ”The states say, we can’t even afford the current Medicaid program, and this would in effect give them no flexibility to make any adjustments that are reasonable adjustments, and say maybe can cover some more people in a certain way, but not under the rigid federal rules.”
Dr. L. Toni Lewis, who is in favor of the Affordable Care Act, voiced her support for the expansion of Medicaid. “As a doctor, I tell you that Medicaid works for seniors, it works for kids, it works for people with disabilities, and it works for families,” she said.
Paul Clement, a former U.S. Solicitor General and current Georgetown Law School professor, argued for the 26 states opposing the law that requiring the states to expand the Medicaid program or lose the federal funding would have a “coercive” effect, a claim that drew a sharp rebuttal from Justice Elena Kagan “It’s just a boatload of federal money for you to take and spend on poor people’s health care,” she said. “It doesn’t sound coercive to me, I have to tell you.” Roberts observed that the states have been accepting federal money and conditions attached to it, “since the New Deal” of the 1930s.

Richard Clarke, the former counterterrorism czar, made some very provocative statements to Smithsonian Magazine that were released today. He is deeply concerned that computer viruses such as the Stuxnet used against the Iranian nuclear program can be planted in electronics equipment manufactured in China. To quote from the interview and make my point, it is a lengthy quote.
“Clarke claims, for instance, that the manufacturer of the F-35, our next-generation fighter-bomber, has been penetrated and F-35 details stolen. And don’t get him started on our supply chain of chips, routers and hardware we import from Chinese and other foreign suppliers and what may be implanted in them—“logic bombs,” trapdoors and “Trojan horses,” all ready to be activated on command so we won’t know what hit us. Or what’s already hitting us.
“My greatest fear,” Clarke says, “is that, rather than having a cyber-Pearl Harbor event, we will instead have this death of a thousand cuts. Where we lose our competitiveness by having all of our research and development stolen by the Chinese. And we never really see the single event that makes us do something about it. That it’s always just below our pain threshold. That company after company in the United States spends millions, hundreds of millions, in some cases billions of dollars on R&D and that information goes free to China….After a while you can’t compete.”
This racist, like others on the left, don’t want justice to prevail, they want to lynch Zimmerman!
(Orlando Sentinel) — If George Zimmerman is not arrested in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin soon, the Rev. Al Sharpton will call for an escalation in peaceful civil disobedience and economic sanctions.
Sharpton would not say the efforts would be taken against the city of Sanford specifically, but he has been critical of the police department’s handling of the case.
Saturday’s scheduled 11 a.m. march from Crooms Academy of Information Technology to the Sanford Police Department headquarters was organized by the local chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.
The civil rights activist and syndicated television show host said he will elaborate on this plan Saturday.
“I will speak about how the National Action Network will move to the next level if Zimmerman isn’t arrested,” Sharpton said, who founded the organization. He added that it was the Martin family and lawyers who first asked him to get involved and nationalize this story.
Next time you go to wally world, play bingo and see how long it takes for you to win!
On March 24 a “KillZimmerman” Twitter account began publishing calls for violence against George Zimmerman, the self-appointed neighborhood watch captain who shot and killed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin on Feb. 26.
Five days later, the account is still on its crusade to avenge Martin.
The sender’s initial tweets made his or her aims clear: “No Justice No Peace!!!!!!!!!! #KILLZIMMERMAN #KILLZIMMERMAN #KILLZIMMERMAN,” they read.
The account’s image is a photo of gun-sight crosshairs superimposed on Zimmerman’s picture.
“This Page Is 4 Da Ppl Who Believe Zimmerman Should Be Shot Dead In The Street,” the Twitter account’s description reads, “The Same Way TRAYVON Was. No Justice No Peace.”
In response to one tweeted complaint on March 24 that the account “is advocating murder,” the account holder replied: “we should just all get up and #killzimmerman ourselves; fuck the system. #AintNoJustice”
“I Think They Should Shoot Zimmerman Dead In His Head Jail Ain’t Enough,” read another message the same day.
“Don’t get me wrong I would be happy if he go to jail,” another tweet read, “but I rather see a bitch shoot him in his fuckin face.”
On March 27, the account tweeted: “Leave All The Violence Shit To Us Coz If They Don’t Put Em In Jail We Gone Get His Ass.”
“We don’t comment on specific users or the status of accounts for privacy reasons,” Twitter spokesperson Rachael Horwitz told The Daily Caller. She did not indicate whether Twitter intends to take action to suspend the account, but provided TheDC with a Web address where users can report “an abusive user.”
Just after Gabrielle Giffords was shot the left went ape-shit saying Sarah Palin had “targeted” her. Remember?
The liberal press took on the mantle of outrage and continued to carry it forward using terms like “vitriolic hate” and lumping all Tea Partiers into the “hate” brigade.
Now we have some “niggas” who set up a “Kill Zimmerman” twitter account complete with a targeted picture.
The reaction from the left and the liberal press (and let’s not forget obama and his regime)?
Not a DAMN PEEP!!!!
And, of course, the fascist assholes at places like Google and Facebook and Twitter won’t dare take down these accounts but are more than happy to take down anything they think is insulting to Obama. Or happily cooperate with the Chinese to stifle “free speech.”
And you thought google, facebook, twitter were apolitical? Hahahahaha….jokes on you!
WHERE’S AL SHARPTON AND JESSE JACKSON?
Better yet, where’s Barack “the racist president” Odumdum telling the world if he had another daughter she’d “look like Aliyah?”
At 3:00pm on Saturday afternoon, 6-year old Aliyah Shell was sitting with her mother and sister on the front porch of her home in the 3100 block of South Springfield Avenue. A pickup truck drove by, slowed to a near stop and the passenger side window rolled down. Shots rang out.
Aliyah Shell was killed by the gunfire as the truck drove off.
At least 10 people were killed, including a 6-year-old girl, in shootings over the weekend in Chicago… The slain were among at least 49 people wounded in shootings from 5 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday…
So where are the professional race-baiters like Al “Not So” Sharpton and Jesse Jerkson?
Where is MSNBS, ABS, CBS and NBS Nightly News?
Where are the New Black Panthers and the other thugs seeking to profit from Trayvon Martin’s death?
They don’t give a crap about Aliyah Shell, or the hundreds of others killed and wounded every year in Obama’s hometown of Chicago.
No, they care only about fomenting hatred, division and dissent. They studiously avoid the ramifications of their failed policies, from the “Great Society” to the “War on Poverty”.
Santelli: Why Doesn’t Obama Go After Apple’s Profits?
CNBC’s Rick Santelli: “If I broke my right arm, am I going to pick a fight with the neighbor? No. If I’m two months behind on my mortgage, am I going to go complain to the bank? Probably not. But let’s see, with gasoline approaching $5 a gallon, isn’t this just a supreme time to pick a war with the energy people that are bringing us what already seems to be in the market’s eyes in short supply? Just like picking fights with China when the world’s about ready to go into recession. There’s a time and a place for everything. And, by the way, all these profits Exxon’s making, the administration doesn’t like it. Well, what about Apple making a billion dollars a week, or Microsoft? I bet you if GM made a billion dollars a week, they wouldn’t mind. Come on!”
Way too damn many liberal assholes in academia!
No, not making that up. Read it for yourself.
(Register) — Scepticism regarding the need for immediate and massive action against carbon emissions is a sickness of societies and individuals which needs to be “treated”, according to an Oregon-based professor of “sociology and environmental studies”. Professor Kari Norgaard compares the struggle against climate scepticism to that against racism and slavery in the US South.
Prof Norgaard holds a B.S. in biology and a master’s and PhD in sociology.
“Over the past ten years I have published and taught in the areas of environmental sociology, gender and environment, race and environment, climate change, sociology of culture, social movements and sociology of emotions,” she says.
The good prof is in London at the moment for the “Planet Under Pressure” conference, where she presented a paper on Wednesday dealing with how best to do away with the evil of scepticism and get the human race to focus all its efforts on saving the planet.
According to an Oregon uni statement announcing the paper:
Resistance at individual and societal levels must be recognized and treated …
“This kind of cultural resistance to very significant social threat is something that we would expect in any society facing a massive threat,” [Norgaard] said.
The discussion, she said, is comparable to what happened with challenges to racism or slavery in the U.S. South.
Note To Joe Scarborough: MoveOn, NAACP, SEIU Holding Trayvon Martin Protest On Saturday…
In response to his comments this morning where he slammed the right for politicizing this case.
Dear MoveOn member,
Wearing a hoodie on the House floor.
That got Representative Bobby Rush thrown out on Wednesday, even as he quoted from the Bible on justice and the end of oppression.
Rep. Rush is one of millions calling for justice for Trayvon Martin, a young black man in a hoodie, gunned down last month in Sanford, Florida. Trayvon’s killer, George Zimmerman, still hasn’t been arrested—and the wheels of justice can’t turn until he is.
Tomorrow in Sanford, MoveOn members will join Trayvon’s family, the NAACP, SEIU, and other allies in a march for justice. And across the country, we can show our solidarity with Saturday’s march by taking a picture of ourselves with a hoodie and making it our profile picture on Facebook and Twitter.
This campaign began with a cry for justice from Trayvon’s parents, and grew online through huge petitions (including one by MoveOn member Maria Roach) and a massive response on social media from celebrities and millions of everyday people standing against racism and racial profiling. So, while Trayvon’s family keeps the pressure on in the streets of Sanford, we need to keep up the pressure online, where this campaign grew into a national movement.
