Marijuana that will NOT get your high is now invented?
Well, if this catches on and replaces all the hemp in the world, sure will be a lot of stoners pissed off. Plus think of the munchies industry like frito-lay who will lose business.
Israeli scientists have cultivated a cannabis plant that doesn’t get people stoned in a development that may help those smoking marijuana for medical purposes, a newspaper said on Wednesday.
According to the Maariv daily, the new cannabis looks, smells and even tastes the same, but does not induce any of the feelings normally associated with smoking marijuana that are brought on by the substance THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol.
“It has the same scent, shape and taste as the original plant — it’s all the same — but the numbing sensation that users are accustomed to has disappeared,” said Tzahi Klein, head of development at Tikkun Olam, the firm that developed the species.
“Many of our patients who tried the new plant come back to us and say: ‘You tricked me,’” because they assumed they had been given a placebo, he said.
According to Maariv, Tikkun Olam sought to neutralise the effect of the THC and to increase the effect of another substance called CBD, or cannabidiol, which has been shown to help diabetics and to ease various psychiatric disorders.
Not only does it leave users stone-cold sober, it also doesn’t induce the munchies, the hunger pangs that the drug’s smokers generally suffer.

Democratic Rep. Keith Ellison from Minnesota tweeted a string of statistics May 30 in an attempt to stifle a non-profit’s push to require voters to show a government-issued ID before entering a voting booth.
The conservative American Legislative Exchange Council has been a strong proponent for the requirement, which the Minnesota legislature placed on the November ballot after bypassing Democratic Gov. Mark Dayton in April.

I Don’t Trust NBC And Neither Should You!

Are we really to believe an organization who blatantly fills the airwaves with nothing more that campaign ads for Barack Obama? Should we to believe an organization recently caught doctoring a 911 tape so as to further their liberal agenda? Or better yet, believe an organization that employs the likes of Reverend Al Sharpton, who can’t decide whether he’s a political commentator or activist so he’s decided to combine the two.
Truthful journalism died at NBC a long time ago, and coordinating their polling efforts with a company such as Marist does nothing to change the fact that NBC is biased and interested in nothing more than towing the liberal line.
As we’ve discussed previously, President Obama has done nothing up to now to warrant support from anyone outside of the black and LGBT communities. The far-left remains guaranteed in the absence of nothing better, but his policies have done nothing but alienate his party base which remains moderate.
If he continues to look to favorable polling data from questionable sources (NBC) for justification that his policies are resonating, President Obama is looking at defeat, perhaps of historical proportions.

The luxury carmaker Fisker Automotive continues to signal it could ditch plans to build its next generation hybrid electric vehicle in the United States, despite the nearly $200 million in Obama administration loan money it has already received.
Fisker received federal funds in part to help purchase a shuttered General Motors plant in Delaware, where it predicted it would one day employ 2,000 auto workers to assemble the clean-burning gas-electric family car, known as the Atlantic.
But company executives began hinting in February that it would reconsider that plan and look for a cheaper place to build the car after the Department of Energy froze the $529 million green-energy loan the company had received, and had been drawing on since 2010.
Fisker used the first $169 million in taxpayer funds to bring to market the Karma, a flashy $100,000 hybrid sports sedan that it assembles in Finland. After a series of delays and stumbles, the company announced it had sold its first 1,000 Karmas, bringing in $100 million in revenues so far this year. The sleek, high-end model has been well received by critics, and the company reported this week it has started to sell in Europe, and could soon be on sale in the Middle East.

Many murderers who employ poison as their weapon of choice favor arsenic, but it’s not that perfect a means to murder. For one, you can’t put arsenic in a cold beverage without it being visable – the white powder will float on top. If the poisoner uses a hot beverage, the poison will dissolve very well, but when the beverage cools, it will float to the top as visable sediment. If the beverage has milk in it, such as hot tea, coffee, or cocoa, the arsenic will curdle the milk. Arsenic is also unreliable as a killer. While there have been cases of some people dying after receiving an infinitesimal amount, such as two grams, one woman who atttempted suicide took 230 grams and her only complaint was indigestion for three days.
If foul play is suspected when someone dies, it is a fairly easy procedure for the medical examiner to determine if someone has been poisoned with arsenic. Residue will linger indefinitely in fingernails, bones, and other parts of the body. In terms of a victim detecting it when it is used on them as a murder weapon, arsenic is virtually tasteless and a very small dose can cause death. It is also possible to give arsenic to someone in small doses over a period of time – it will build up in the body and eventually cause death. The person will get sicker and sicker as the arsenic akes effect, and the symptoms appear to be any of a number of nonlethal, everyday maladies. Arsenic first came into existence in the eight century, and for the next several centuries it was not able to be detected – imagine how many victims it may have claimed during this time that we will never know about.

(AFP) — Senior U.S. senators John McCain and Joe Lieberman said Thursday it was time to arm Syria’s opposition as they expressed disgust over a massacre last week blamed on government forces.
“It’s time to act. It’s time to give the Syrian opposition the weapons in order to defend themselves. It’s not a fair fight,” the Republican McCain told reporters in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur.
McCain is in Muslim-majority Malaysia along with Lieberman, an independent, for a brief visit that included a meeting with Prime Minister Najib Razak on Wednesday and other officials.
During their talks, the pair expressed their “repugnance and anger and disgust at the behavior of (Syrian President) Bashar Assad and the recent massacre of innocent women and children”, McCain said.

The coordinated leftist attempt to destroy the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) over ALEC’s support for voter ID and “stand your ground” laws reached a new low today when Walmart, the biggest retailer in America, suspended its membership in the group. Liberal groups like Media Matters for America and its close associate, the Van Jones-run Color of Change, working in coordination with friends of the Obama Administration, launched secondary boycotts against members in ALEC this year; several major ALEC sponsors have already dropped out, prompting ALEC to announce in April that it was no longer going to focus on “public safety and elections,” and would instead direct its energies toward the economy.

(Bloomberg) — Drugmakers led by Pfizer Inc. agreed to run a “very significant public campaign” bankrolling political support for the 2010 health-care law, including TV ads, while the Obama administration promised to block provisions opposed by drugmakers, documents released by Republicans show.
The internal memos and e-mails for the first time unveil the industry’s plan to finance positive TV ads and supportive groups, along with providing $80 billion in discounts and taxes that were included in the law. The administration has previously denied the existence of a deal involving political support.
The documents were released today by Republicans on the House Energy and Commerce Committee. They identify price controls under Medicare and drug importation as the key industry concerns, and show that former Pfizer Chief Executive Officer Jeffrey Kindler and his top aides were involved in drawing it up and getting support from other company executives.
“As part of our agreement, PhRMA needs to undertake a very significant public campaign in order to support policies of mutual interest to the industry and the Administration,” according to a July 14, 2009, memo from the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America. “We have included a significant amount for advertising to express appreciation for lawmakers’ positions on health care reform issues.”
The goal, the memo said, was to “create momentum for consensus health care reform, help it pass, and then acknowledge those senators and representatives who were instrumental in making it happen and who must remain vigilant during implementation.”

The White House is opposed to a bill that was proposed in the House that would ban sex-selection abortions.
In defending President Obama’s opposition to the bill, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said it would force abortionists into the position of trying to determine the “motivations” behind a “very personal” decision.
During the White House press briefing Wednesday, Fox News reporter Ed Henry asked, “since the president has been outspoken about being against gender-based discrimination, how can you allow gender-based abortion?”

A bipartisan group of lawmakers on the House Energy and Commerce Committee introduced a resolution on Wednesday urging the Obama administration to oppose efforts to give the United Nations more control over the Internet.
Proposals to give the UN’s International Telecommunication Union (ITU) more control over the governance of the Internet could come up at a conference in Dubai in December. The move is backed by China, Russia, Brazil, India and other UN members, but is opposed by lawmakers on both sides of the aisle, as well as the Obama administration.
The proposals would give the UN more control over cybersecurity, data privacy, technical standards and the Web’s address system. They would also allow foreign, government-owned Internet providers to charge extra for international traffic and allow for more price controls.
The Internet is currently governed under a “multi-stakeholder” approach that gives power to a host of nonprofits, rather than governments.
The resolution introduced Wednesday would encourage the United States delegation “to promote a global Internet free from government control and preserve and advance the successful multi-stakeholder model that governs the Internet today.”
Rep. Mary Bono Mack (R-Calif.) introduced the resolution with the support of Committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-Mich.), ranking Member Henry Waxman (D-Calif.), Communications and Technology Subcommittee Chairman Greg Walden (R-Ore.) and ranking subcommittee member Anna Eshoo (D-Calif.).
