A Hero of My Youth is Now to be Outed as Gay – The Green Lantern!

This political correctness shit, this rush to try and be more gay than others, is getting freaking ridiculous! Now an icon from my youth, Green Lantern, is set to be outed as a gay by DC Comics! This guy was not gay back in the day, that is for sure, and to make him gay now is just plain idiocy! I wonder though, as these comic book companies start going the gay route, then obviously got to have a lesbian or two, when will we have a transgendered comic book character? Will kids today and tomorrow keep buying comic books?

One of DC Comics oldest heroes is super-coming out.

The original Green Lantern — a DC Comics mainstay for the past 70 years — will be revealed to be a gay man in next week’s issue of “Earth 2.”

Alan Scott — formerly a married father of two who first appeared in 1940 — tips readers off to his sexuality early on in the comic when he gives his boyfriend a welcome home kiss.

“He’s very much the character he was. He’s still the pinnacle of bravery and idealism. He’s also gay,” “Earth 2” writer James Robinson told The Post.

The Emerald Guardian’s sexuality was rebooted along with the rest of his fictional universe as part of DC’s “New 52” initiative aimed at rejuvenating their characters.

Robinson said he decided to make the change because making the character young again meant erasing Scott’s gay superhero son out of existence.

“The only downside of his being young was we lose his son, Obsidian, who’s gay. So I thought, ‘Why not make Alan Scott gay?’” Robinson recalled. “That was the seed that started it.”

He ran his idea by the bosses at DC, “who signed off on it without hesitation.”

The Rugged Individualist

Among the “bailouts” the one for which the Obama administration is happy to take credit is the GM bailout. Forget that it turned a century of bankruptcy law on its head and flagrantly favored unions over bondholders. Forget the hundreds of dealerships that were forced out of business. Forget that $80 billion of your hard earned money was used to prop up the enterprise. Obama touts the fact that “Osama bin Laden is dead and GM is alive” at every campaign event. However, is GM “alive” for Americans or Chinese? Well, in fairness, he borrowed the $80 billion from China. Keep a wastebasket nearby. You are about to lose your dinner.

What an idiot NYC has for a mayor!

Politico:

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg on Friday defended his controversial proposal to limit the soda size in restaurants, quipping that extra large drinks aren’t what “the Founding Fathers fought for.”

“We’re not banning you from getting the stuff. It’s just if you want 32 ounces, the restaurant has to serve it in two glasses. That is not exactly taking away your freedoms. It is not something the Founding Fathers fought for,” Bloomberg said on NBC’s “Today Show.”

Bloomberg drew a parallel between smoking bans and his new initiative, which would cap the size of soft drinks at movie theaters and food service establishments at 16 ounces, by suggesting that he is leading a movement.

“Where did I hear this before? Wasn’t it [the] smoking [ban] wasn’t going to work? Today it’s one of the best things we’ve ever done. Deaths from smoking dramatically coming down across the country, virtually every major city has adopted smoking ordinances,” he said.

The mayor and businessman tried to defend his proposal by citing studies that indicate smaller plates or cups will lead to less eating or drinking.

Imposing Cap & Trade Through LOST

Moonbattery

The insane LOST treaty that Obama et al. are trying to sneak through the Senate would do much more than redistribute $billions of Americans’ money to Third World dictatorships. It would cripple the economy by inflicting backdoor Cap & Trade. Unsurprisingly, the treasonous Hanoi John Kerry is behind the latest maneuver:

President Obama’s plans to pass economy killing cap and trade regulations may have died in the Senate in 2010. But, if Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., gets his way, they will be resurrected after the presidential election.

At a Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing Wednesday, Kerry announced that he would not be submitting the United Nations Conventions on the Law of the Sea (LOST) before the November election. Instead, Kerry intends to hold a series of hearings before the election, building the case for passage, before pushing the treaty in a lame duck session. This is the exact same game plan Kerry executed to pass the New START treaty in the 2010 lame duck.

Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta has embarked on a nine-day trip to Asia, during which he will brief our allies on America’s new Pacific-oriented defense strategy. In its briefings on the trip, Defense Department officials have stressed the importance of India to U.S. strategy, noting that it is the only country specifically mentioned in the strategic guidance document.

Along the same lines, Deputy Secretary Ashton Carter said yesterday in a speech at AEI that the U.S is destined to draw closer to India because India is “a country we know is a kindred soul.”

Carter’s statement is true, and obviously so. But it raises the question of why the Obama administration snubbed India for so long, while tilting towards Pakistan – a country we know is not a “kindred soul.” It’s a question I tried to answer here. Among the reasons, in my view, is that Obama considers India, as he considers Israel, too kindred.

Whatever the motivation, the snub has been indisputable. Unlike Secretary Panetta, Hillary Clinton conspicuously excluded India from her first visit to Asia. As for President Obama himself, he alienated India as a candidate and as president-elect by making an issue of Pakistan’s claims over Kashmir. And though he backtracked on this, he has continued to irritate India through his hectoring over the out-sourcing of jobs.

This is Obama’s bff! How long before the Obama regime pulls this on us? ARM NOW PEOPLE! STOCK UP ON GUNS AND AMMO!

Venezuela bans private gun ownership

Venezuela has brought a new gun law into effect which bans the commercial sale of firearms and ammunition.

Until now, anyone with a gun permit could buy arms from a private company.
Under the new law, only the army, police and certain groups like security companies will be able to buy arms from the state-owned weapons manufacturer and importer.

Wow…just how much pressure was put on Obama to finally apologize to the Poles?

The Hill:

President Obama has penned a letter of apology expressing “regret” over using the phrase “Polish death camps” in a ceremony earlier this week, which has drawn heavy criticism from Polish officials.

“In referring to ‘a Polish death camp’ rather than ‘a Nazi death camp in German-occupied Poland,’ I inadvertently used a phrase that has caused many Poles anguish over the years and that Poland has rightly campaigned to eliminate from public discourse around the world,” Obama wrote in a letter released by the Polish government. “I regret the error and agree that this moment is an opportunity to ensure that this and future generations know the truth.”

Earlier this week, Polish officials expressed dismay over the president’s reference to “Polish death camps” during the posthumous awarding of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the United States’ highest civilian honor, to Jan Karski, a Polish officer who provided the Allies with underground information about the ongoing Holocaust during the Second World War.

Obama chief strategist David Axelrod shouldn’t have been surprised to see that a lot of Republicans turned up at the kickoff at the Statehouse in Bostonfor his campaign event tearing down Mitt Romney’s record as governor of Massachusetts. Though the event was supposedly a secret, it reportedly was leaked on Twitter, and a GOP response team was quick to react. Romney supporters chanting “Solyndra” — a reference to the failed energy company that was the recipient of so much Obama administration largesse, heckled Axelrod, turning the gathering into a bipartisan shouting match rather than an Obama show. The same day, Romney staged an event at the Fremont, California headquarters of Solyndra in a carefully planned attempt to upstage the Democrat’s efforts to seize control of the news cycle.

While all of this can and should just be put down to the usual give and take of a hotly contested presidential campaign, it does show that a lot has changed since the last time Axelrod was running a national campaign. Whereas in 2008, the campaign of John McCain was clearly outmatched in terms of technology and smarts by the “hope and change” juggernaut that put Barack Obama in the White House, in 2012 the GOP is determined not to roll over for the Democrats. If today is any indication of how things will go the next five months, Axelrod is in for a long, hard slog against an opponent capable of nimbly returning serve and scoring points even on days that the Chicago campaign guru thought would belong to him.

The failed bill banned sex-selective and race-selective abortion

Mark Levin says that if you are listening to the media today about the failed bill banning sex-selective abortion, then you don’t k now that the bill didn’t just ban gender-based abortions, but also race-based abortions as well. He says the media is reporting off of talking points handed to them by the Democrats and that’s why they aren’t telling you, because Democrats don’t want you to know:

Before I head off for my well-earned rest after my last well-earned rest, I can’t resist drawing your attention to this delicious story by Lewis Page in the Register.

Turns out that a stunt arranged by the US climate alarmist establishment to discredit sceptics has backfired horribly:

A US government-funded survey has found that Americans with higher levels of scientific and mathematical knowledge are more sceptical regarding the dangers of climate change than their more poorly educated fellow citizens.

The results of the survey are especially remarkable as it was plainly not intended to show any such thing: Rather, the researchers and trick-cyclists who carried it out were doing so from the position that the “scientific consensus” (carbon-driven global warming is ongoing and extremely dangerous) is a settled fact, and the priority is now to find some way of getting US voters to believe in the need for urgent, immediate and massive action to reduce CO2 emissions.

Needless to say, the authors of the report fail to draw the logical conclusion from all this. Rather than see it as further proof that Anthropogenic Global Warming theory has about as much in the way of legs as the Black Knight in Monty Python and the Holy Grail, they instead ascribe it – a bit like Steve Jones did in his embarrassing and discredited report for the BBC Trust on the BBC’s lamentable science reporting – on false consciousness.

What’s needed, the authors of the report appear to believe, is not better science – but more PR and spin.

Page reports:

Given that the profs had assumed from the start that scepticism is wrong, this forced them to the conclusion that simply teaching people more science and giving them more facts and numbers is not a good idea as it will lead them into bad (sceptical) decisions.

Companies fire back at proposed NYC big soda ban

NEW YORK (Reuters) – Coca-Cola Co and McDonald’s Corp fired back at New York City Mayor,Michael Bloomberg on Thursday for proposing a ban of large-sized soft drinks at restaurants and other food service outlets.

“New Yorkers expect and deserve better than this. They can make their own choices about the beverages they purchase,” Coca-Cola said in a statement.

The world’s largest soft-drink maker, which would also be disproportionately affected by such a ban, said it already includes calorie counts on the front of its bottles and cans in New York and that restaurants already post the calorie content of all their offerings and portion sizes, including soft drinks.

The statement from Coke comes a day after Mayor Bloomberg said he was proposing an amendment to the city’s health code to prohibit food service outlets from selling sugary soft drinks larger than 16 ounces.

The ban would apply to restaurants, mobile food carts, delicatessens and concessions at movie theaters, stadiums or arenas, where sales of fountain drinks are common. It would not apply to convenience stores, grocery stores or drug stores, which mostly sell beverages in bottles and cans.

Targeting cup sizes is the latest move in an ongoing effort to reduce Americans’ calories from sugary drinks. That is part of a broader push to fight obesity, which is a huge and growing burden to the nation’s healthcare system.

“Public health issues cannot be effectively addressed through a narrowly focused and misguided ban,” said a spokeswoman for McDonald’s USA. “This is a complex topic, and one that requires a more collaborative and comprehensive approach.”

For years, advocates and health experts have focused on additional taxes that they say would curb consumption and raise billions of dollars nationally.

Wait, did not the democrats scream that Bush should get UN permission first? Now the same idiots want to bypass the UN!

The Telegraph:

America has raised the possibility of intervening in Syria without United Nations approval and accused Russia of pushing the country into civil war.

Hillary Clinton, the US secretary of state, bluntly criticised Russia’s continued backing for President Bashar al-Assad’s regime yesterday. This support was illustrated last night by the disclosure that a Russian cargo ship carrying weapons had docked in Syria last Saturday, one day after the massacre in Houla which claimed at least 108 civilian lives.

Addressing students in Denmark, Mrs Clinton urged Russia to use its influence on Mr Assad to curb the fighting. [...]

Earlier, Susan Rice, the American ambassador to the UN, said that Russia’s veto-wielding membership of the Security Council would not necessarily prevent international action. If the violence worsened and the peace plan proposed by Kofi Annan, the former UN secretary general, made no progress, some countries would consider whether to bypass Russian and Chinese opposition in the UN.

“Members of this Council and members of the international community are (then) left with the option only of having to consider whether they’re prepared to take actions outside of the Annan plan and the authority of this Council,” said Ms Rice.

Leaders of the Free Syrian Army, the rebel movement, issued a statement giving the regime until Friday (today) to obey the Annan plan, or they would formally abandon a ceasefire.

Bill Clinton Bucks Obama’s Bain Attacks, Praises Romney’s “Sterling” Business Career…

Via Politico:

President Bill Clinton veered sharply off message Thursday, telling CNN that Mitt Romney’s business record at Bain Capital was “sterling.”

“I don’t think that we ought to get into the position where we say ‘This is bad work. This is good work,’” Clinton said. “The man who has been governor and had a sterling business career crosses the qualification threshold.”

Clinton also went on to say that Romney’s time at Bain Capital represented a “good business career.”

The Obama campaign is in the third week of an all-out assault on Romney’s time as a corporate buyout specialist — accusing the GOP nominee of bankrupting companies and laying off workers all while pocketing a profit for himself and investors.

But the negative tenor of their attacks on an influential segment of Wall Street have made some Democrats uncomfortable. Clinton is the highest profile Obama surrogate so far to show discomfort with the attacks on Bain, with the former president even praising the company and Romney’s record. Newark mayor Cory Booker and Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick also both declined to press the attack against Bain.
