Every winter, like clockwork, the sea ice that covers the Arctic thickens and grows. And then every summer, the Earth tilts its Northern Pole toward the sun and some of that ice melts away.

But not all of it. Even in the summer months, many of the northern channels and passages that connect the Atlantic to the Pacific are blocked off by ice. For centuries European explorers searched for a passage unsuccessfully, until 1906 when an expedition led by Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen made it across. Since then, better boat and navigation technology have enabled more regular crossings, but the most northern routes have remained off-limits for all but the strongest, diesel-powered, extra-fortified, ice-breaking boats.

Until this year, when three men made the complete Northwest crossing through the M’Clure strait (the northernmost of the direct routes) in the Belzebub II — a sailboat with no fortification. Previously, the only boats that had made it through M’Clure were ice-breakers, and none had been able to complete the pass through Viscount Melville Sound after shooting through M’Clure. Usually only either the sound or the straight are open to boats, but not both at once.

Barack Obama addressed the UN General Assembly in New York yesterday, because of the pressing and urgent need to find a way to stick taxpayers with the bill for his campaign appearance on “The View.” And truthfully, Hope n’ Change didn’t watch that particular estrogen-fest, because if we heard Barbara Walters ask about the “Womney/Wyan wedistwibution awegations,” we’d have to throw ourselves in front of a Gweyhound Bus.

But we did listen to Obama’s UN speech, and can confirm that the disturbing sounds of appeasement came through loud and clear above all the verbal tap-dancing.

Oh sure, Obama said he was against things like attacking our embassies and killing the occasional ambassador (wink-wink, nudge-nudge)…but then repeated his bizarre assertion that none of this violence was directed at the United States (indeed, it was “an assault on the very ideals upon which the United Nations was founded”) and moreover that it was all the fault of the idiot YouTube movie.

Terrorism? It never came up. But he did say the film was “an insult to all Muslims” and “We understand why people take offense to this video because millions of our citizens are among them.”

But as if standing on that slippery slope wasn’t enough, Obama decided to go down it on skis – declaring: “The future must not belong to those who slander the Prophet of Islam!”

Really, Barry? Really…?!

Bombshell Report: US Knew Benghazi Raid Was a Terrorist Attack Within 24 Hours

For a full week following the deadly ambush at the US consulate in Benghazi, the Obama administration told the American public that the incident was triggered by a “spontaneous protest” over an anti-Islam video that spun out of hand. They’ve equivocated over recent days, as the himself president has begun to hedge — finally allowing that other forces may have had a hand in the destruction. Today, national security correspondent Eli Lake has a bombshell exclusive in Newsweek/The Daily Beast that destroys the administration’s official story and points to an intentional cover-up:

Within 24 hours of the 9-11 anniversary attack on the United States consulate in Benghazi, U.S. intelligence agencies had strong indications al Qaeda–affiliated operatives were behind the attack, and had even pinpointed the location of one of those attackers. Three separate U.S. intelligence officials who spoke to The Daily Beast said the early information was enough to show that the attack was planned and the work of al Qaeda affiliates operating in Eastern Libya. Nonetheless, it took until late last week for the White House and the administration to formally acknowledge that the Benghazi assault was a terrorist attack. On Sunday, Obama adviser Robert Gibbs explained the evolving narrative as a function of new information coming in quickly on the attacks. ”We learned more information every single day about what happened,” Gibbs said on Fox News. “Nobody wants to get to the bottom of this faster than we do.”

The intelligence officials who spoke to The Daily Beast did so anonymously because they weren’t authorized to speak to the press. They said U.S. intelligence agencies developed leads on four of the participants of the attacks within 24 hours of the fire fight that took place mainly at an annex near the Benghazi consulate. For one of those individuals, the U.S. agencies were able to find his location after his use of social media. “We had two kinds of intelligence on one guy,” this official said. “We believe we had enough to target him.” Another U.S. intelligence official said, “There was very good information on this in the first 24 hours. These guys have a return address. There are camps of people and a wide variety of things we could do.” A spokesman for the National Security Council declined to comment for the story. But another U.S. intelligence official said, “I can’t get into specific numbers but soon after the attack we had a pretty good beat on some individuals involved in the attack.”

Here’s the US Ambassador to the United Nations, Susan Rice, telling the American people that the administration’s “best information” indicated that the attack began as a “spontaneous, not a premeditated” response to a YouTube clip. These statements were made five days after Amb. Stevens’ murder:

U.N. Chief Says Mohammed Movie ‘Cannot Be Protected’ As Free Speech

U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said on Wednesday the maker of an anti-Islam film that triggered violent protests across the Muslim world abused his right to freedom of expression by making the movie, which he called a “disgraceful and shameful act.”

The film, posted on the Internet under several titles including “Innocence of Muslims,” mocked the Prophet Mohammad and portrayed him as a womanizer and a fool.

It sparked days of deadly anti-American violence in many Muslim countries, including an assault on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi in Libya in which the U.S. ambassador died.

“Freedoms of expression should be and must be guaranteed and protected, when they are used for common justice, common purpose,” Ban told a news conference.

“When some people use this freedom of expression to provoke or humiliate some others’ values and beliefs, then this cannot be protected in such a way.”

“My position is that freedom of expression, while it is a fundamental right and privilege, should not be abused by such people, by such a disgraceful and shameful act,” he said.

How about we elect someone who says the United Nations can no longer be funded by money plundered from the American taxpayers. And the lease on the U.N. building is terminated.
