In battle, there is no greater act of valor than to lay down your life so others may live. On Wednesday at the White House, a soldier was honored for the sacrifice made a long time ago. CBS News correspondent David Martin tells his story.
In a modest Pennsylvania neighborhood, there’s a shrine to America’s newest hero: Leslie Sabo, killed 42 years ago in the Vietnam War. It has been kept all these years by Sabo’s widow, Rose. She was 20 and he was 21.
“We had 31 days together,” she tells Martin.
“31 days.”
“And then he left for Vietnam,” Rose said.
In May of 1970, Bravo Company crossed from Vietnam into Cambodia to disrupt the enemy’s sanctuaries and ran smack into an ambush. Eight soldiers, including Leslie Sabo, were killed.
“All they told me was that he had been killed by enemy fire. That’s all I knew,” said Rose.
But decades later, a researcher found reports of the battle buried in the stacks at the National Archives. One document was an affidavit signed by Teb Stocks. He read it Wednesday for the first time since 1970.
Specialist Sabo received the Medal of Honor posthumously on May 16, 2012 from President Obama for his heroic actions in combat on May 10, 1970, while serving as a rifleman in Company B, 3d Battalion, 506th Infantry, 101st Airborne Division in Se San, Cambodia. On that day, when he and his platoon were ambushed by a large enemy force, Specialist Sabo immediately charged the enemy position, killing several enemy soldiers. He then assaulted an enemy flanking force, successfully drawing their fire away from friendly soldiers and ultimately forcing the enemy to retreat. While securing a re-supply of ammunition, an enemy grenade landed nearby. Specialist Sabo picked it up, threw it, and shielded a wounded comrade with his own body – absorbing the brunt of the blast and saving his comrade’s life. Although wounded by the grenade blast, he continued to charge the enemy’s bunker. After receiving several serious wounds from automatic weapons fire, he crawled towards the enemy emplacement and, when in position, threw a grenade into the bunker. The resulting explosion silenced the enemy fire, but also ended Specialist Sabo’s life. His indomitable courage and complete disregard for his own safety saved the lives of many of his platoon members.

Unhinged Joe Biden yells and screams about the evil rich – They don’t get us!
Fire Andrea Mitchell
The Obama regime is imploding. Vice President Joe Biden has always been a loony toons and a dimwit. But now he’e becoming even more unhinged. Biden went on a rant about those evil rich to a tepid crowd in Ohio. Biden whined about how those evil rich “just don’t get us.” Ironic considering Biden is such a cheapskate when it comes to charity, and the Messiah Obama is worth upwards of $10 million.

Useless Nations want to tax the rich to pay the poor! Yes, a neat take on the Robin Hood tax. Doubt if it will pass.
(CNSNews.com) — Ahead of the G8 summit in Camp David on Friday, a group of United Nations human rights “experts” are throwing their weight behind a longstanding campaign for a so-called “Robin Hood tax” on international financial transactions.
In a statement issued in Geneva — home to the U.N.’s human rights apparatus — the five called the financial transaction tax (FTT) a way “to offset the costs of the enduring economic, financial, fuel, climate and food crises, and to protect basic human rights.”
It would provide “a pragmatic tool for providing the means for governments to protect and fulfill the human rights of their people,” they said.
“The FTT is an opportunity for governments to move beyond rhetoric in their commitments to sustainable development, and to give flesh to their noble pronouncements of solidarity,” said one of the five, Virginia Dandan, whose title is “independent expert on human rights and international solidarity.”

ICE Agents Say Obama’s Claim of Fewer Illegals are Bogus
The Lid
According to Barack Obama’s spin machine the barrage of people sneaking into the U.S. from across the Mexican border has slowed down and illegals are actually leaving the country. According to some border patrol agents, the tide hasn’t slowed its just that their hands have been tied so there are fewer illegals arrested. To back up the the border agents financial data indicates that there is more money being transferred from immigrants to Mexico than in previous years.
Federal law enforcement officials interviewed by TheWashington Examiner say security is being compromised as the government seeks to keep a lid on the border as a campaign issue during the presidential election cycle. Department of Homeland Security’s Border Patrol agents and Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers are being told not to make arrests of noncriminal illegal immigrants, and not to patrol areas of high traffic along the roughly 2,000-mile Southwest border.
A Border Patrol official working along the Texas border said administration officials are deliberately failing to document what is actually happening on the border. “In many cases my supervisors make it clear that they don’t want increased apprehension numbers, which means no arrests,” he said.

So someone tell our congress why aiding and abetting the jihadist terrorists in Syria (the so called rebels) is not in our best interest and is a very damn bad idea!
(AINA) — Armed jihadist seized control of Qastal al-Burg village on Thursday, May 10, and ordered its 10 Christian families to leave, according to a report published by UPI on its Arabic language website.
A resident of the village, who did not wish to be identified, said “armed jihadist (expiatory) group came to the village and ordered us to leave our homes empty handed.” The armed group, he further stated, “have exercised their control over all the houses, and occupied the church and made it as their command control center.”
Qastal al-Burg village is in the province of Hama and is 48 kilometers northwest of Hama.

Mark Levin is livid over a Politico article suggesting that Republicans are already planning to play politics and leave ‘popular, consumer friendly’ portions of Obamacare in place if the Supreme Court partially or fully overturns the law. Levin says if this is true that Boehner needs to go:

Romney: Imagine if Uncle Sam designed a cell phone …
Enterprise Blog
Liberal pundits like Jonathan Cohn are moaning and groaning about Mitt Romney’s economic speech in Iowa yesterday because a) he seemed to blame the sickly recovery on high debt levels, and b) he thinks the stimulus was a failure.
He are the two parts in question that liberals dislike:
President Obama is an old-school liberal whose first instinct is to see free enterprise as the villain and government as the hero. America counted on President Obama to rescue the economy, tame the deficit and help create jobs. Instead, he bailed out the public sector, gave billions of dollars to the companies of his friends and added almost as much debt as all the prior presidents combined. The consequence is that we are enduring the most tepid recovery in modern history. …
President Obama started out with a near trillion-dollar stimulus package – the biggest, most careless one-time expenditure by the federal government in history. And remember this: The stimulus wasn’t just wasted – it was borrowed and wasted. We still owe the money, we’re still paying interest on it and it’ll be that way long after this presidency ends.
A few thoughts:
1. Debt might well be retarding growth. Economists Carmen Reinhart, Vincent R. Reinhart, and Kenneth Rogoff just put out a new study looking at the economic impact of high debt levels: “We identify 26 episodes of public debt overhang–where debt to GDP ratios exceed 90% of GDP–since 1800. We find that in 23 of these 26 episodes, individual countries experienced lower growth than the average of other years. Across all 26 episodes, growth is lower by an average of 1.2%.” The economists also recommend not waiting until bond markets freak out before acting.

MAYO CLINIC REMOVES CLITORECTOMY SUPPORTER
Atlas Shrugs
Sharia’s misogyny defeated!

Hatem Elhagaly (AKA “Hatem Al Haj”), a medical doctor and fellow at the AmericanAcademy of Pediatrics, ignores FGM’s detrimental effects on women’s health, and instead argues that it is ‘an honor’ for women. He justifies this position by referring repeatedly to the words of classical Islamic scholars from the four schools of mainstream Sunni Islamic thought, all of which attest to FGM’s legitimacy under Islam. He also refers to the words of the Prophet Muhammad himself, who reportedly counselled people in his day on how to perform FGM in a way that would be “more beautiful to behold and better for [the woman's] husband.” (more here)
Tha Mayo Clinic removed Dr. Elhagaly. They sent this email:

Subject: RE: Dr. Hatem Elhagaly
Dr. Elhagaly is no longer employed or caring for patients at Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea. We are working with his patients to transition their care to another physician. Because this is a personnel issue, we cannot comment further on Dr. Elhagaly’s employment status.
Female circumcision in children, referred to as female genital mutilation in U.S. legal statutes, is a felony-level child abuse crime. Mayo Clinic strongly opposes the procedure and it has never been performed at any Mayo Clinic facility.
Atlas reader CGW vigorously pursued signatures to a petition seeking removal of Hatem Elhagaly (AKA “Hatem Al Haj”). Kudos to him for his hardwork. He dropped that petition in every post. Here is the text of the petition.

If there’s one thing those who report on others dislike more than anything, it’s the lens of scrutiny being turned on them. That explains Washington Post reporter Bob Woodward’s reaction to Jeff Himmelman’s new book “Yours in Truth: A Personal Portrait of Ben Bradlee.” While Woodward isn’t the subject of the book, he is the focus of a couple of controversial revelations from it.
This isn’t the first time Woodward has faced criticism. Christopher Hitchens, who once called Woodward “the stenographer to the stars,” was not a fan of what he called Woodward’s “hollow core of ‘access’ journalism,” which involves painting figures in a favorable light in return for interviews with them and information about their lives. And some have questioned Woodward’s use of anonymous sources and unusual tactics (his interviews with former CIA Director William Casey while Casey was in and out of a coma are prime examples of how Woodward has often pushed the bounds of credulity).
One revelation from Himmelman’s book is that Ben Bradlee, the legendary executive editor of The Post, had personal doubts about the accuracy of some of the more dramatic, some might say “theatrical,” aspects of Woodward’s interactions with “Deep Throat” in his and Carl Bernstein’s Watergate coverage. According to Himmelman, Bradlee didn’t — and still doesn’t — doubt the validity of the basic narrative, just the cinematic way in which it was conveyed. Woodward had a very “cloak and dagger” relationship with Deep Throat that famously involved clandestine-esque meetings in parking garages and little signals that indicated meetings would happen. It was the stuff of Hollywood movies.
Again, Bradlee doesn’t question the fundamentals Woodward got from Deep Throat, just the theatrics. And considering that as executive editor Bradlee’s reputation was as much on the line as Woodward’s or Bernstein’s, it’s not surprising that Woodward’s accounts of his meetings with Deep Throat would give Bradlee pause.
