caught misleading about ‘Ivanka Trump shoe factory’
Americans’ trust in the mainstream media is at an all-time low, and that’s still too high.
They’ve been caught making “Fake News” again, and this time it’s an effort to make millions of Americans think Ivanka Trump keeps virtual slaves.
Three investigative reporters are being detained in Ganzhou, China after attempting to document working conditions at shoe factories owned by Huajian International.
The news is being reported in the United States under headlines such as:
“U.S. Presses China to Free Activists Scrutinizing Ivanka Trump Shoe Factory” (New York Times)
“Activists investigating Ivanka Trump’s China shoe factory detained or missing” (The Guardian)
“Men investigating Ivanka Trump China factory missing, arrested” (CBS News)
“China: Activists Detained at Ivanka Trump Shoe Factory” (Time)
“A Mystery At Ivanka’s Shoe Factory” (Bloomberg)
And it’s all Fake News.
There’s no such thing as an “Ivanka Trump shoe factory.”
The Huajian facility in Ganzhou does make Ivanka Trump-branded for designer Marc Fisher, who licenses her fashion line, but they account for only 1.25% percent of the 8,000,000 shoes the factory makes each year.
Most of Huajian’s shoes are manufactured for companies like JC Penney, Nine West, Coach and Alain Delon.
Referring to the facility as an “Ivanka Trump shoe factory” when it only accounts for 1.25 percent of their output is Fake News, a deliberate attempt to mislead readers.
Why don’t the headlines refer to it as a “Coach shoe factory?”
There is also no indication whatsoever the activists’ detention has anything to do with Trump.
“It is not clear…whether the connection to President Trump’s daughter played a role,” the Times begrudgingly admits in a passage buried in the sixth paragraph of one of at least two stories they’ve published on the arrests.
While the conditions in the factory are likely deplorable and the arrests indefensible, it is not an “Ivanka Trump shoe factory,” there is no evidence or indication Trump played any role in the arrests, and the fact is any labor activist attempt to film inside a Chinese factory will be arrested by that country’s dictatorship.
The Fake News media have been caught misleading again.
