Surprise today, when Forbes magazine came out with what the NFL teams are worth. And guess who came out on top? With a cool worth of $2.1 billion? Yes, that is over 2 BILLION US dollars!
The Dallas Cowboys have become the first American sports franchise worth more than $2 billion, according to Forbes magazine.
The NFL’s most valuable team for the sixth consecutive year, the Cowboys saw their overall worth increase 14 percent to $2.1 billion. That’s about $1 billion higher than the average NFL team value, $1.11 billion, up 7 percent.
New TV contracts, the collective bargaining agreement signed last year and lasting for a decade, and higher premium seating revenue contributed to the increases.
With new stadiums in the works for the Vikings and 49ers, their values skyrocketed. Minnesota had a 22 percent increase to $975 million, while San Francisco moved up 19 percent to $1.175 billion.
New England was second to Dallas in overall value at $1.635 billion.

Yet another great thing! A BACON TACO!!!
###
A bacon-flavored coffee called “How to Win a Guy With One Sip” has won a $10,000 jackpot and the bragging rights to being recreated and sold at a popular coffee chain across the US.
Des Moines, Iowa resident Eileen Gannon beat out five other competitors with her pumpkin pie-spiced, bacon-flavored coffee at a contest held in New York last week, where her creation was lauded as the most “imaginative drink in America.”
The bacon-flavored coffee will be featured at participating Seattle’s Best Coffee locations across North America, which hosted the Red Cup Showdown. The Seattle’s Best brand is owned by Starbucks.
Gannon, a financial adviser in Des Moines, meanwhile, is no stranger to the food contest circuit, according to local paper the Des Moines Register, which pointed out that she’s a frequent blue ribbon winner at state fair contests.
Runners-up for the $10,000 pot included a “Café Mocha en fuego,” spiced with chili powder, cinnamon and cayenne, and a raspberry-flavored chocolate coffee.
Gannon, meanwhile, used a bacon-flavored syrup and garnishes of candied oven-baked bacon to garnish her drink.

Mr Rogers, who co-founded the Quantum Fund with George Soros, believes that America’s central bank is secretly printing money to avoid “getting egg on their face again” after previous attempts to kickstart the faltering economy with $2 trillion of QE failed.
“I do not know if they [the Fed] will announce it,” he told India’s Economic Times. “I know they are going to print more money. They already are. If you look at their balance sheets, you will see that something is happening, assets are building on their balance sheets and they are not coming from the tooth fairy.
“They are a little bit embarrassed because they announced QE1 and QE2, and it did not work. So they may try to discuss it. They may just continue to do it without getting egg on their face again, but they are going to print money, they are all going to print money. It is the wrong thing to do, but that is all they know how to do.”
He told the Daily Telegraph: “They probably have learned how to do things off balance sheet. I have nothing to confirm this but everyone else has learned how, so they probably have too. This is just a comment on human nature.”
Mr Bernanke said in his annual speech at Jackson Hole on Friday that the country’s high level of unemployment – it climbed to 8.3pc in July – is a “grave concern” and that the “economic situation remains far from satisfactory”.

When Barack Obama told hard-working Americans back in July “If you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that- somebody else made that happen,” it was arguably the greatest gift the president ever gave the Republican Party. And apparently the gaffe still has legs - the GOP capitalized on it last week during their RNC Convention in Tampa, FL as it was mentioned in some way or another in almost every major prime time speech given during the convention.
But the misstep is still plaguing the Obama campaign, and his supporters are still reeling from the president’s accidental, but truthful slip. Disgraced Former White House Green Jobs Czar and progressive leader Van Jones was the latest to work himself into a tizzy trying to spin the president’s remarks.
“The whole thing with Obama ‘you didn’t build that’ – saying small businesses don’t build roads and bridges – that’s true!” he told Cliff Schecter during a Netroots Nation livestream at the 2012 DNC Convention in Charlotte, NC this afternoon.

This is the RGB Colorspace Atlas by Tauba Auerbach. The 8”x8” hardcover tome is pretty much an encyclopedia of every color in the RGB index. It’s huge, it’s gorgeous, and I want one.

Via INN:
Just days after a report that the U.S. was sharply cutting its participation in a military exercise scheduled withIsrael, U.S. planes landed in Egypt Tuesday for a joint exercise, the first since the fall of Hosni Mubarak. Code-named “Eagle Arena 2012,” the exercise will include air and naval forays by US and Egyptian planes and boats, over the country, Sinai, and the Red Sea.
According to Egyptian media reports, the purpose of the exercise is to enable Egyptian forces to practice both defensive and offensive tactics. The specific number of American troops and planes participating in the exercise.
The exercise is one of a series of steps the U.S. has undertaken in recent weeks to build ties with the regime of the Muslim Brotherhood’s Mohammed Morsi, the new President of Egypt. According to U.S. reports, Washington is set to forgive a billion dollars of Egyptian debt as part of its international assistance program for Egypt. Thedebt will be dumped in the laps of U.S. taxpayers. Egypt currently owes the U.S. some $3 billion.
Over the weekend, reports in foreign media said that the U.S. was drastically scaling down its participation in a military exercise scheduled for October. Time Magazine said that the U.S. was cutting as many as two thirds of the 1,200-some soldiers that had been scheduled to participated in the exercise, called Austere Challenge 12, and was sharply limiting the amount of U.S. equipment that will be used in the exercise.

In a legal opinion requested by Senator Orrin Hatch, Ranking Minority Member of the Senate Committee on Finance and Representative Dave Camp, Chairman of the House Committee on Ways and Means, the GAO General Counsel’s Office determined that the Department of Health and Human Services’ recent memo making changes to operation of the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program… must be submitted to both Houses of Congress before it can take effect.
While Democrats have been crying foul over Republicans’ attacks, the GAO has found that an attempt to institute this waiver process without Congressional review would be an illegal power grab. This will at least put a small bump in the road for the Obama Administration’s attempt to relax one of the key components of welfare reform.
This doesn’t mean that it would be easy for Congress to block Obama’s welfare waiver plan, though. Under the rule that the GAO cited, all that’s required is that the Administration submit the proposed plan in writing to Congress, not that it requires a vote to be implemented. As FDL reported, Congress would have to submit a joint resolution to “review” the regulation, and that might require 60 votes in the Senate. However, House Republicans can still make a lot of noise to try to raise awareness about these new welfaire work requirement waivers and possibly force an uncomfortable vote in the Senate.
The Obama Administraton’s method of governance by executive order has been troubling recently, and in this case they’ve clearly attempted an overreach. While mainstream media “fact-checkers” have taken issue with the phrase “gutting welfare,” the facts are that the Obama Administration is planning on allowing state governments to relax their work requirements. As Romney policy advisor Lanhee Chen said, “if you open the door, people are going to walk through it. He’s expecting that.”

Last night Michelle Obama told a heart warming story of how she and Barack Obama both came from humble beginnings and had to struggle to get where they are now. But Breitbart says that’s a fairy tale and it’s not really true:
Both Michelle Robinson and Barack Obama began their adult lives with a leg up on the rest of America. They attended elite schools: Michelle went to Whitney Young, the public magnet school for Chicago’s upper class, while Barack attended Punahou, the private prep school for the top stratum of Hawaiian society. They were accepted to Ivy League schools despite undistinguished credentials, and both attended Harvard Law School.
“[B]elieve it or not, when we were first married, our combined monthly student loan bills were actually higher than our mortgage,” Michelle said. That sounds like a raw deal–but in fact reflects their fortunate circumstances. They had both just graduated from a very expensive law school, and their combined income from cushy law firm jobs dwarfed the repayments. Barack also soon enjoyed a second salary from the University of Chicago.
They had expensive tastes, reflected in the $277,500 two-bedroom condo they bought in 1993–a high price even by today’s standards. Several years later, they moved into their $1.65 million mansion in Hyde Park–with the help of fraudster Tony Rezko. Barack often told a story of hardship on the campaign trail in 2008 about having his credit card declined–once. The fact that he thought this counted as real hardship speaks volumes.
As her husband moved onto the national political stage, Michelle Obama began to enjoy a lavish lifestyle at taxpayer expense, directly and indirectly. When Barack Obama was elected to the U.S. Senate, he obtained a $1 million earmark for the University of Chicago Hospital–and his wife’s salary as Vice President for Community Affairs jumped from $121,910 to $316,962. Her job: pushing poor, uninsured patients to other hospitals.
There’s more at Breitbart, but this pretty much sums up their lifestyle of privilege.
