Homosexuals can’t afford a wedding without a paycheck

WOLF: A better ‘gay agenda’

Homosexuals can’t afford a wedding without a paycheck

Americans are suffering under Barack Obama’s rule, and our republic faces an existential challenge. Federal spending is out of control, and Democrats refuse even to pass a budget. America’s credit rating has been downgraded, and a debt crisis looms. So what is President Obama’s response? Hey, look over there, a shiny object!

Once upon a happier time for Mr. Obama, he swore, “I’m going to keep talking about the issues that matter – about the economy and health care and education and energy.” That was in October 2008, when he claimed that Sen. John McCain was trying to “distract” you with other issues. But that was then, and now is the time to grade the president on those four issues.

Mr. Obama has to know his presidency has been an unmitigated disaster. His failed trillion-dollar stimulus has indentured our grandchildren into a lifetime of debt, and for what exactly? Turtle tunnels costing $3 million and $200,000 tattoo removals. Well, that and a real unemployment rate that approaches 15 percent, a historic, record number of poor souls reduced to food stamps and an economic growth rate slower than Michael Moore at a track meet.

Obamacare collapses more each day and is on the verge of being struck down by the Supreme Court. Mr. Obama’s admitted desire that energy prices “will necessarily skyrocket” has come true with gas prices that have doubled since he took office and since he has, in his own words, put “a boot on the neck” of energy suppliers. As for education, the president has only one idea: Spend more money. That and allow the first lady to ban from school cafeterias every last morsel of food that kids actually like. Meanwhile, standardized test scores remain as stagnant as they’ve been since the Department of Education opened its trillion-dollar doors.

So our president is doing his darndest to distract us from the issues that threaten the survival of America. Last week it was homosexual marriage. Before that it was student loans, birth control and hooded sweatshirts. He’d rather talk about how he used to eat dogs than discuss jobs. This is the incredibly shrinking president. As Iowahawk blogger David Burge recently tweeted: “The only thing we have to fear is talking about the economy.”

We should judge Mr. Obama by his own standards. He says that avoiding the important issues should be recognized for what it is: a distraction. He also said of fixing the economy: “If I don’t have this done in three years, then there’s going to be a one-term proposition.” Fine, let’s take him at his word.

The Obamanomics disaster continues unabated even as the graduation season is upon us. We’re reminded how American families once proudly looked upon this tradition with sunny optimism as we passed the torch to the next generation and they embarked on the American dream in the land of opportunity. Today, the disheartening reality is that there simply are not real jobs for half of the 1.7 million college graduates. Welcome to Barack Obama’s America.

Someone should ask President Obama just how unemployed homosexual couples are supposed to get married if they can’t afford a wedding.

The federal job training maze

John Hayward- Human Events

Speaking at the NATO summit in Chicago on Monday, President Obama expressed his belief that the President’s job is to “figure out how everybody in the country has a fair shot,” and “think about those workers who get laid off, and how we’re paying for their retraining.”

As it happens, last year the Government Accountability Office completed a major study of federal job training programs, which Obama often touts as one of his great contributions to the cause of job creation, during his chronic but short-lived bouts of claiming that job creation is his top priority.

The study was commissioned by Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK) of “Wastebook” fame, who told Fox News, “The vast majority of money we spend in job training doesn’t go to job training.  It goes to employ people in those job training federal programs.”

The report studied data from fiscal year 2009, but the system it describes remains largely the same: an “overlapping and duplicative maze of 47 federal jobs programs run by nine agencies,” as the Fox News report describes it, adding that “some were rife with mismanagement, waste, fraud, abuse, and corruption.”  Taxpayers currently spend $18 billion on these programs every year.  That’s more than four times as much as Obama’s silly “Buffett Rule” tax would have brought in.

Among other marvels discovered by the GAO were people trained for jobs that didn’t exist, and trained for jobs they already held.  Of course, in keeping with the culture exposed by the outrageous GSA scandal, there were reports of job training administrators spending “federal funds on extravagant meals and bonuses for themselves.”

President Obama, naturally, wants to pour more taxpayer money into this system, rather than giving “tax breaks to every millionaire and billionaire in the country.”  His Republican rival, Mitt Romney, would rather block-grant the money back to state governments, which could run their own job training programs.

Romney’s approach would help to clean up the redundancy issues, and increase accountability by raising these programs from the murky depths of Washington to the relatively clear and shallow waters of state capitals.  However, the GAO report made it clear that measuring the effectiveness of any of job training program is extremely difficult… because very few of them keep track of their own performance.

“Little is known about the effectiveness of employment and training programs,” the report explains, “because, since 2004, only five reported conducting an impact study, and about half of all the remaining programs have not had a performance review of any kind.”

Give it a little while, and bam, some liberal will start yelling that this is another war on women!

Planned Parenthood In Pennsylvania May Be Defunded — HuffPo

Pennsylvania State Rep. Daryl Metcalfe (R-Butler) will introduce legislation on Wednesday that would defund Planned Parenthood, adding his state to a list of four others that have pending bills to strip public funds from the family planning provider.

Metcalfe’s bill, the Whole Woman’s Health Funding Priority Act, would put health care providers that offer abortion services at the bottom of the priority list for state funding. The anti-abortion activist group Susan B. Anthony List and the Alliance Defense Fund co-wrote the bill, which closely resembles the one Arizona lawmakers used to defund Planned Parenthood earlier this year.
