House approves indefinite detention of terror suspects including U.S. citizens caught on American soil

I am waiting for some site or blog to show the total vote on this, who voted for it and who voted against it. Could be very telling as to who we have in the House that need to go!

The House on Friday passed a $642 billion defense bill that abandons the deficit-cutting agreement that President Barack Obama and congressional Republicans backed last summer.

On a 299-120 vote, lawmakers backed the spending blueprint that adds $8 billion for the military for next year. The bill calls for a missile defense site on the East Coast that the military opposes and restricts the ability of the president to reduce the arsenal of nuclear weapons under a 2010 treaty with Russia. It also preserves ships and aircraft that the Pentagon wanted to retire in a cost-cutting move.

Lawmakers also rejected the military’s request for another round of domestic base closings. The White House has threatened a veto, as Republicans made wholesale changes in Obama’s budget proposal.

Earlier Friday, the House reaffirmed the indefinite detention of suspected terrorists, even of U.S. citizens captured on American soil.

A coalition of Democrats and tea party Republicans fell short in their effort to end the controversial policy established last year and based on the post-Sept. 11 authorization for the use of military force that allows indefinite detention of enemy combatants.

The House rejected an amendment by Reps. Adam Smith, D-Wash., and Justin Amash, R-Mich., that would have barred indefinite detention and rolled back mandatory military custody. The vote was 238-182.

“The frightening thing here is that the government is claiming the power under the Afghanistan authorization for use of military force as a justification for entering American homes to grab people, indefinitely detain them and not give them a charge or trial,” Amash said during hours of House debate.

The policy’s supporters argued that ending it would weaken national security and coddle terrorists.

‘Speedway Bomber’: Criminal terrorist Brett Kimberlin was convicted in 1981

Investigative journalist Matthew Vadum reports a blockbuster: Brett Kimberlin, the convicted felon who terrorized an Indiana town during a weeklong 1978 bombing spree, has received funding from influential “progressive” foundations:

“Speedway Bomber” Brett Kimberlin . . . is a director and founder of the Justice Through Music Project, a seven year old Bethesda, Maryland-based 501c3 nonprofit entity. . . .
Kimberlin is the business partner of leftist blogger Brad Friedman … They are both involved with a group called Velvet Revolution which also receives funding from the Tides Foundation.
JTMP has received at least $70,000 in grants from the far-left Tides Foundation since 2006.
Another noteworthy donor is . . Barbra Streisand who has given JTMP at least $10,000 through her Barbra Streisand Foundation since 2006 . . .
Yet another is Teresa Heinz Kerry, wife of Sen. John Kerry (D-Massachusetts). Mrs. Kerry is CEO of the Heinz Family Foundation which has given JTMP at least $20,000 since 2006 . . .

A self-described “associate” of Democrat political consultant Neal Rauhauser, Kimberlin’s recent activities are under increased scrutiny because of his alleged harassment of blogger Aaron Worthing.

Only in freaking Japan!

Same-sex weddings have no legal status in Japan, but that hasn’t stopped Tokyo Disneyland from giving them the OK.

“I wrote 10 years ago that I looked forward to the day when gay and lesbian couples could hold hands and go to Tokyo Disneyland,” said Taiga Ishikawa, Japan’s first openly gay politician. “I’m very happy.”

A full wedding ceremony in Cinderella’s castle, with Mickey and Minnie included on the guest list, costs about $95,000. The park is now accepting applications.

The “don’t drop the soap” EO? Geesh, even more PC and now for the prison system! I can see the court cases because some fairies got more than they bargained for.

Via Metro Weekly:

Today, the Obama administration announced that it has finalized regulations implementing the Prison Rape Elimination Act. According to an executive summary provided to members of the media and a conference call held with reporters, the regulations include provisions relating to “lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and gender nonconforming inmates” — a development a leading LGBT advocate calls one of the most important LGBT advancements in the administration.

Although the administration — in a memorandum released today by President Obama — has concluded that the PREA “applies to all Federal confinement facilities,” the administration is allowing other agencies — including the Department of Homeland Security, which is responsible for administering immigration detention facilities — to “work with the Attorney General” to propose their own rules in this area in the next 120 days.

Specifically relating to LGBTI people, as part of efforts to prevent prison sexual abuse, the Department of Justice states that facilities subject to the PREA “incorporate unique vulnerabilities of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and gender nonconforming inmates into training and screening protocols.”

The rule’s executive summary, which was provided to reporters today, expands upon this area. In a section relating to “Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex (LGBTI) and Gender Nonconforming Inmates,” the summary states: “The standards account in various ways for the particular vulnerabilities of inmates who are LGBTI or whose appearance or manner does not conform to traditional gender expectations. The standards require training in effective and professional communication with LGBTI and gender nonconforming inmates and require the screening process to consider whether the inmate is, or is perceived to be, LGBTI or gender nonconforming. The standards also require that post-incident reviews consider whether the incident was motivated by LGBTI identification, status, or perceived status.”

National Center for Transgender Equality executive director Mara Keisling tells Metro Weekly of the news, “This is a really, really big fucking issue.”

Koch Attorney Slams Bashir: ‘Way Your Network’ Treated Us ‘Led to Death Threats Against Our Owners’

Martin Bashir got a scolding on national television Thursday that everyone on MSNBC as well as within the parent companies Comcast and General Electric should receive.

During a contentious interview with the general counsel for Koch Industries, Inc., Bashir’s guest said, “The way that your network has handled issues with us, the way that a lot in the far-left media have handled issues with us, attacking us even when there’s no basis like with the Trayvon Martin issues, that situation, that has led to death threats against our owners” (video follows with transcribed highlights and commentary):

This guy is not too freaking sane or smart!

Newsbusters:

SHARPTON: We start in 1988 with the attack add against Michael Dukakis. And we saw it again in 2004 with the swiftboating of John Kerry. The party has run entire campaigns on character assassination. But the latest effort, it’s about more than just winning an election. It’s about dehumanizing President Obama.

…I think we went through that four years ago, everyone knows where the president stands. I think this was more geared trial to trying to bring race and really dehumanize the president.

…I must say that Ricketts has said he is not going to do it. He turned it down. It`s merely a proposal that he rejects. But the fact that these major strategists would go and try and bring this plan about shows some very insidious political maneuvering that really wants to dehumanize this president.

Just what more proof does the DOJ and the Obama regime need to shut down CAIR and start rounding up all the islamic assholes in the USA?

IPT:

Two months after a frenzied appearance on YouTube warning that his life was in danger at the hands of fellow jihadists, American-born designated terrorist Omar Hammami has launched a media blitz to prove he is indeed alive and well in Somalia. This, after various reports made their way around the web alleging that the Americanal-Shabaab leader, more commonly known as Abu Mansoor al-Amriki, was executed on April 4.

In his first public move since reports of his death surfaced, Hammami reportedly reached out to Vanguard/Current TV correspondent, Christof Putzel, three weeks ago for an exclusive interview. The interview was conducted from afar, and Hammami claims he is alone in hiding in Somalia. According to Current’s report, Putzel was told that he was singled out for the interview because Hammami had recently seen his 2010 Vanguard documentary, “American Jihadi.” The Daphne, Alabama native is the main subject of the film.

Then, late Wednesday, Hammami brought his message to a wider audience with the online release of his 127-page autobiography, entitled The Story of An American Jihaadi Part One. The document was posted on the hosting site Scribd. [...]

Hammami also makes interesting observations about American Islamist organizations, as well as the evolution of Muslim American opinions on violent jihad. He remarks that his Salafi teacher in Alabama had once been attracted to jihad as well, “when it was still acceptable to the U.S.” He asserts plainly that the Council on American-Islamic Relations, or CAIR, has “ties to Hamas,” even though he is critical of political Islamists, who don’t move fast enough in trying to replace Western democracy with Islamic theocracies.
