On Thursday, President Obama engaged in one of his favorite pastimes, issuing apologies. This time, the President apologized to Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai for the inadvertent burning of the Koran at a U.S. military base.
Islamic radicals in custody defaced the Koran by writing “extremist inscriptions” on the sacred pages. Under Islamic law, such action is not permissible, so military officials tried to comply and discarded the texts. While proper procedure was not followed, the entire incident was caused by Islamic prisoners writing in the holy books.
Once the charred pages were discovered, Afghan protesters immediately focused their anger at the United States. Armed with sticks, stones and even pistols, protesters incited violence. Seven people died in protests that were staged throughout the country. At one demonstration site, near a military base, two American soldiers were killed by an Afghan terrorist, masquerading as a soldier.
After days of intensifying protests, President Obama issued an unfortunate and inappropriate apology to President Karzai. In his letter, Obama expressed “our regret and apologies over the incident in which religious materials were unintentionally mishandled at Bagram Airbase.”
If anyone should apologize, it should be President Karzai for the killing of two U.S. soldiers. At a Spokane, Washington speech, presidential candidate Newt Gingrich expressed his outrage. He said, “If Hamid Karzai, the president of Afghanistan, doesn’t feel like apologizing, then I think we should say good bye and good luck. We don’t need to be here risking our lives and wasting our money on somebody who doesn’t care.”

After 3 (three) mornings of not going to the gym, this morning my wife and I went to the gym. Tell you, it was like starting all over again. Stayed on the bike until my legs said stop or never walk again. Then I just hit the massage chair. Then we left. Told wife, no more skipping unless something very important comes up or happens. She agreed.
After more than 40 years of development and extensive use by the military, the United States has set the date when the nation’s airspace will be open for drones. Should you be scared?
Short answer: No, but like any new technology, unmanned aerial vehicles have their dark side.
Legislation passed by Congress last week gives the Federal Aviation Administration until Sept. 30, 2015, to open the nation’s skies to drones.
The first step comes in 90 days when police, firefighters and other civilian first-response agencies can start flying UAVs weighing no more than 4.4 pounds, provided they meet still-to-be-determined requirements, such as having an operator on the ground within line-of-sight of the drone and flying it at least 400 feet above ground.
Currently, UAVs can only fly in restricted airspace zones controlled by the U.S. military.
By May 2013, the next class of drones, those weighing less than 55 pounds, can fly the nation’s skies, according to provisions of the FAA bill passed by Congress and signed by President Barack Obama last week.
The deadline for full integration of drones into U.S. airspace is Sept. 30, 2015.
Rules about where and when drones can fly and who can operate them are still under development. And there are still technical hurdles, such as setting up the bandwidth for secure UAV radio communications and refining collision avoidance systems, said NASA program manager Chuck Johnson of the Dryden Flight Research Center at Edwards, Calif.
But the most pressing issues are privacy concerns and public perceptions.
“Right now, under current U.S. laws there are very few restrictions on our ability to take pictures or videos of individuals outside,” Harley Geiger, a policy attorney with the Center for Democracy and Technology in Washington, D.C., told Discovery News.
“Some of the privacy issues that we see with drones are very different than the sort of surveillance that can be conducted with a helicopter. Drones can quietly watch an entire town without refueling. It can conduct a pervasive and secret surveillance that helicopters cannot match,” Geiger said.
“You can’t avoid it if you’re outside unless you take cover. People don’t want to be on YouTube whenever they go outside,” he added.
That’s not to say that governments, companies and individuals shouldn’t use drones.
“We’re not standing in the way of drone technology. We are saying that there needs to be privacy and transparency rules for its use. Otherwise the American people are going to enter a rather dark period in terms of physical surveillance,” Geiger said.
That could include, for example, having drone operators’ licenses and mission information publicly available online.
Gretchen West, executive vice president with Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International trade group, says drones will have very specific missions, not widespread surveillance.
“It doesn’t mean these aircraft are flying throughout the nation’s airspace. They’ll be used for law enforcement, to monitor traffic, for search and rescue and to track suspects,” she said.
On the commercial side, drones have a huge benefit for the oil and gas industry, agriculture, environmental monitoring and disaster surveillance, she added.
“It’s not meant to sit over someone’s house and take video,” West told Discovery News.
“The new regulations open up the airspace a little bit so we can start collecting more data,” she said. “Because they’ve been regulated so heavily by the FAA and the military, there’s not a lot of information for the FAA to get to make the regulations.”
Congressman West also commits the greatest sin possible in CAIR’s eyes, calling the enemy by its proper name, “Islamic terrorists.”

I want to extend my sincere condolences to the families of the Army Colonel and Major who were killed by Afghanistan security forces over this “burning Koran” episode.
If we had resolute leadership in the White House, we would have explained that these Islamic terrorist enemy combatants detained at the Parwan facility used the Koran to write jihadist messages to pass to others.
In doing so, they violated their own cultural practice and defiled the Koran and turned the Koran into contraband.
The Islamic cultural practice and Parwan detention facility procedures support burning the “contraband.”
Instead here we go again, offering apology after apology and promising to “hold those responsible accountable.” Responsible for what?
When tolerance becomes a one-way street it leads to cultural suicide.
This time it immediately led to the deaths of two American Warriors.
America is awaiting the apology from President Hamid Karzai.
I wonder if Obama and Pelosi will still claim Occupy is just like the Tea Party?
Hey, remember! We’re American citizens. We don’t have to put up with terrorists…These people are terrorists. These people are fucking terrorists. These people are [something...put in jail?]. These people should be put down like the [mother-fucking?] dogs they are. And when you do no one’s going to cry for it.
You’ve got all the weapons now. America’s the fucking land of [doxing?] and you have addresses, families, don’t you? And we have the internet. That’s scary. Hey, that’s cool you can have the pepper spray now. You’ve got addresses, you’ve got families, you’ve got everything. Go away. We’ll go away. Remember, it can happen here or at your houses.

According to the Dems, these people are stupid.
Via DC Examiner:
Gallup is out with new numbers about President Obama’s health care bill. According to the poll, 47 percent favor a repeal of the law, should a Republican president get elected and 44 percent oppose it. Not surprisingly, Republicans favor repeal by 87 percent and Democrats oppose it by 77 percent.
More importantly, 72 percent of Americans believe that the law’s individual mandate to purchase health insurance is unconstitutional, including 56 percent of Democrats.

Can you imagine the blowback if morons in Congress and the Obama administration get their way and we start arming these groups?
A recently formed jihadist group known as the Al Nusrah Front claimed credit for a suicide attack in the Syrian city of Homs. The Al Nusrah Front is one of two Islamist terror groups in Homs to have announced their existence in the past month to battle President Bashir al Assad’s regime.
The Al Nusrah Front to Protect the Levant released a 45-minute-long videotape today on the al Qaeda-linked Shumukh al Islam web forum. The video was translated by the SITE Intelligence group.
In the video, Al Nusrah said the “martyrdom-seeking operation” was executed “in revenge for our mother Umm Abdullah – from the city of Homs- against whom the criminals of the regime violated her dignity and threatened to slaughter her son,” SITE reported. The suicide bomber was identified as Abu al Bara’a al Shami, who is seen on the tape giving a martyrdom statement.
The video also shows “an excerpt of allegiances, operations, and training of the al-Nusra Front” as well as a fighter “amongst the masses in a public demonstration, advising them to do their prayers and adhere to the rituals of Islam.”
(Chicago Tribune) — In a fiery lecture to thousands of followers of the Nation of Islam on Sunday in Chicago, Minister Louis Farrakhan warned that racial hatred could lead to attempts to assassinate President Barack Obama.
Farrakhan spent much of his oration decrying what he cast as Satan’s influence over racist forces in politics and society before asking a pointed rhetorical question: “Do you think they’re wicked enough to be plotting our brother’s assassination as we speak?”
Farrakhan delivered his speech to an enthusiastic crowd of adherents packed loosely into the United Center for the Nation of Islam’s annual observance of Saviours’ Day, which celebrates the birth of the faith’s founder, W. Fard Muhammad. This year’s events marked the 82nd year of the religion’s existence in North America.
He spoke for more than three hours on a broad array of topics, excoriating U.S. foreign policy, suggesting that the 9/11attacks were a government-planned pretext for war in the Middle East, lamenting recent extreme weather and attacking mothers for serving their children food from McDonald’s. He also returned repeatedly to a topic that has attracted intense controversy in the past: the influence of Jews in politics and media.
Farrakhan drew a distinction between noble Jews and followers of “the synagogue of Satan,” and he pointed to a recent incident in which the publisher of a Jewish magazine suggested Israeli security forces could help preserve Israel by killing Obama. He attacked Israeli policies, while also directing criticism at perceived Jewish influence in the U.S. [...]
Near the close of his speech, Farrakhan spent several minutes comparing Obama’s political situation to that of Abraham Lincoln, who was assassinated after winning a second term, and suggested an assassination plot against Obama might involve a “patsy,” a person set up to take the blame for a broader conspiracy.
“I believe they want a Muslim to kill President Obama,” he said.
