Obama surprised when he gets a yogurt splash

So the President walks into a bar… and he meets Madalyn Starkey, a University of Colorado student who will forever be known as the girl who posed for the greatest photo ever taken of a sitting president.

(Colorado Daily) — En route to the University of Colorado on Tuesday evening, President Barack Obama made an unexpected stop at The Sink, the venerable low-ceilinged pub on University Hill, where tables full of unsuspecting, mostly college-aged customers munched on burgers and fries.

Obama’s motorcade peeled off Broadway on to 13th Street around 6:30 p.m. and pulled up in front of the bar. People in the street erupted in cheers as they realized who had just arrived, and Obama shook hands with surprised patrons dining on tables out on the sidewalk.

A young woman who the president approached inside The Sink told him she wanted to open a shop that sells cheese fries. He congratulated her before adding a rejoinder.

“And it sounds low-calorie also,” Obama said. He added, with a smile, “We’ll be on the lookout.”

The president also spoke with a man from Australia who was sitting with a young woman he told Obama he was still attempting to woo.

“Smart guy,” Obama told him.

In a direct attack on the GOP’s War on Women, a new project called “Sluts Across America” has been launched to highlight the absurdity of judging those who use birth control “for totally valid, responsible, and mature reasons”; show that supporters of reproductive rights exist everywhere; and re-appropriate and take ownership of the derogatory term “slut.”

The site involves a simple interface that asks users to input their location and a reason for supporting access to birth control. It then displays the users’ statements and locations anonymously, under the heading “I’m a slut because…”

President Obama imposed a big-spending faux stimulus program on the economy back in 2009, claiming that the government needed to squander about $800 billion to keep the unemployment rate from rising above 8 percent.

How did that work out? One possible description is that the so-called stimulus became a festering pile of manure. About three years have passed, and the joblessness rate hasn’t dropped below 8 percent. But the White House has been sprinkling perfume on that pile of you-know-what and claiming that the Keynesian spending binge was good policy.

But not every politician is blindly ideological like Obama. Vitor Gaspar, Portugal’s Finance Minister, is willing to admit error. Here are some relevant excerpts from a New York Times report.

Mr. Gaspar, speaking to The New York Times last week, has a message for observers who say Europe needs to substantially relax its austerity approach: We tried stimulus and it backfired. Like some other European countries, Portugal tried what Mr. Gaspar called “a Keynesian style expansion” in 2008, referring to a theory by economist John Maynard Keynes. But it didn’t turn things around, and may have made things worse.

Congressman: TSA “Was Patting Me Down Where No One Is Supposed To Go”

Texas Republican Franciso Canseco got the TSA’s freedom fondle treatment at the airport, recently, and wasn’t too fond of it.

Maybe if enough members of Congress get their privates rubbed down by rubber-gloved bureaucrats we can fire the TSA
and let the airlines, and local airport authorities, handle security.

Quite frankly, how his approval among practicing Catholics isn’t in single digits is a mystery.  There’s never been an administration more openly hostile to the church, and any Catholic who still supports this regime needs to do some soul-searching.

President Obama has seen his standing among Catholic voters, a crucial segment of the electorate, slip in recent weeks, and a looming confrontation with Catholic activists could make it worse.

Democrats want voters this year to focus on what they have branded a war on women, but the flip side of the debate — the so-called war on religion — is not going away anytime soon.

In one small step for the pharmaceutical industry, but one giant step for alcohol dependents everywhere, the French have approved a pill that treats alcoholism. Baclofen — which goes by Kemstro, Lioresal, and Gablofen — isn’t quite definitively efficient in all cases of alcoholism, but it has provided “clinical benefits in some patients,” so France is forging ahead. In a study of 132 heavy drinkers, the drug — originally developed to treat epilepsy — succeeded in making 80 percent either become abstinent or moderate drinkers. The best any other anti-alcoholism drug has ever managed is fewer than 25 percent.

He means in doublespeak that we should pay for all this madness from the Useless Nations.

(CNSNews.com) — United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said Monday that millions of girls — teenagers and younger — need access to abortion and contraceptives in order to “avoid unintended pregnancies, unsafe abortions and sexually transmitted infections.”

“Sixteen million adolescent girls become mothers every year, and every day, more than 2,000 young people contract HIV,” Ban said. “We have a collective responsibility to drive these numbers down.”

Ban said the nations of the world must provide “reproductive health care” — i.e, access to abortion and contraceptives — for young people, as well as give them “access to the necessary information and the means to protect themselves from sexual abuse and violence.”

Ban, quoting from a United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) report, said “an estimated 3 million unsafe abortions took place in developing countries among girls aged 15 to 19 in 2008.”

After asking students to use the Twitter hashtag “#dontdoublemyrate” to tweet members of Congress to keep low interest rates on student loans, President Obama told them it is the time to “double down” on his policies.

“So stand up, be heard, be counted. Tell them now is not the time to double interest rates on your student loans. Now is the time to double down on smart investments to build a strong and secure middle class. Now is the time to double down on building an America that lasts,” Obama said at a campaign event at University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.

Oppose CISPA today. The EFF has a great tool to help: http://eff.org/cyberspying

We appointed a Congressional committee to create a video opposing CISPA, a new bill being voted on later this week in the House of Representatives. This is what they came up with.

Don’t let Congress make things for the Internet. Videos or Laws.

But hey, for those of color, calling for death to all whitey’s is okay says Obama, his regime, Holder, and all leftists!

The Blaze:

Multiple speakers preached explicit violence at the Occupy The Justice Department rally in Washington DC Tuesday. Speeches at this event were focused on Trayvon Martin and freedom for radical journalist and convicted cop killer, Mumia Abu-Jamal. [...]

Rapper Jay Sun began the rally with a violence-laden plea: “I would just ask, if I ever go locked up or incarcerated, please don’t march for me. Don’t rally for me. I want you to start killing Mother F***ers!

Activist Pam Africa closed out the event on Pennsylvania Ave. with a rousing speech encouraging people to cast out in vengeance against the “M***er F***er” who “blew the brains out of a brother.”

Well, there go the chicken feeders! LOL

Daily Caller:

A proposal from the Obama administration to prevent children from doing farm chores has drawn plenty of criticism from rural-district members of Congress. But now it’s attracting barbs from farm kids themselves.

The Department of Labor is poised to put the finishing touches on a rule that would apply child-labor laws to children working on family farms, prohibiting them from performing a list of jobs on their own families’ land.

Under the rules, children under 18 could no longer work “in the storing, marketing and transporting of farm product raw materials.”

“Prohibited places of employment,” a Department press release read, “would include country grain elevators, grain bins, silos, feed lots, stockyards, livestock exchanges and livestock auctions.”

The new regulations, first proposed August 31 by Labor Secretary Hilda Solis, would also revoke the government’s approval of safety training and certification taught by independent groups like 4-H and FFA, replacing them instead with a 90-hour federal government training course.

WTF? Now the entire military is going politically correct? What next you dumbass liberal generals? Soldiers won’t be able to say they are going to kill some “ragheads, gooks, charlies”?

More waste of money, our money!

Beltway Confidential:

President Obama recently touted algae as a potential source of energy, and now the Environmental Protection Agency has invested in converting spinach into an energy source.

The EPA awarded a $90,000 grant over the weekend to Vanderbilt University students “who designed a biohybrid solar panel that substitutes a protein from spinach for expensive silicon wafers that are energy intensive to produce, and is capable of producing electricity.”

(you know, it would be cheaper, faster and better if the government did not give out such grants or subsidize the entire enthanol industry. but instead just telling companies, come up with something better (get with the industry for parameters like how much energy can be used to create ethanol, etc.) and put it on the market. in other words, let the market decide when it comes to ethanol, gas substitue, etc.)

Hey, a democrat actually telling the entire truth! Now if Obama would say the same.

DC Examiner:

Rep. Chaka Fattah, D-Penn., explained last night how unemployment could actually encourage people to vote for President Obama in order to secure welfare benefits such as food stamps.

“Unemployment continues to drop and those people who are unemployed, they’re not going to be voting for the party who wants to cut their benefits — cut access to food stamps, cut job training,” Fattah, Senior Member of the House Appropriations Committee, told MSNBC’s Al Sharpton last night.

Hey, great idea! Send all these damn atheists to North Korea!

(Fox News) — A national atheist organization is demanding that a Rhode Island city remove a cross from a 91-year-old memorial honoring hometown soldiers who paid the ultimate sacrifice for their county.

Although the memorial has stood in the parking lot of the Woonsocket fire station for decades with no complaints, the Freedom from Religion Foundation is now calling for it to be stripped of the cross that sits atop it, claiming it violates the First Amendment’s freedom of religion clause. The group also wants the Woonsocket Fire Department to remove “The Firefighter’s Prayer” and a picture of an angel from its website.

“We ask that you immediately remove the cross from the Fire Station parking lot and remove the prayer and angel from the Woonsocket Fire Department website,” the foundation’s senior staff attorney, Rebecca Market, wrote in a letter to Woonsocket officials.

The memorial was erected nearly a century ago to honor the city’s war dead, including three brothers killed in World War I. Mayor Leo Fontaine told the Woonsocket Call he will not remove the cross “under any circumstances.”

Critical time for ideological debate — Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.)

Much has been made of my recent response to a question from a constituent and assertion regarding so-called “communists” in the Congressional Progressive Caucus. I am pleased it has inspired so much passionate debate, for that was precisely the point.

When I was studying for my two master’s degrees in political science at Kansas State University and at the U.S. Army Command and General Staff Officer College, the very best professors were those who would begin each lecture with a challenging assertion. It engaged discussion and analysis, and was the best way to uncover the essence of the particular subject of the day. [...]

Specific “party” affiliation is not the point of the discussion — it is rather affiliation with a set of ideals. Conservatives adhere to the ideals of individual responsibility and freedom, limited government, a free market and a strong defense. Those on the liberal left adhere to a collective ideal, directed and controlled by a centralized government to guarantee and enforce social and economic justice.

You can call this what you wish. The esteemed scholar and author Mark Levin calls it “statism.” In our lifetime, the unpalatable and pejorative brands “socialist” and “communist” have been replaced with the more user-friendly “progressive” term.

But this is not a discussion about labels. It is a discussion far more important and grave, for it affects our nation’s future, our security and each and every one of us. The dialogue must be about the future and direction of these United States. It is about the choice between two futures:  a constitutional republic or a bureaucratic nanny-state.

It’s what? Torture? I have a better idea! Send all islamics of all ages in the USA back to the 7th century by deporting them to Yemen!

(CNS News) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) in Michigan has filed a lawsuit in federal court against U.S. authorities, claiming intrusive religious questioning of Muslim American citizens who are trying to reenter the country at the northern border with Canada.

In the lawsuit, one plaintiff claims the prolonged detention and questioning of his Muslim faith at the northern border by U.S. law enforcement constituted “psychological torture.”

On April 13, CAIR filed the lawsuit in a U.S. District Court in Michigan against three federal agencies listed as defendants:  Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the  Transportation Security Administration (TSA), both of which are components of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and the Department of Justice’s FBI. (1 – Complaint and Jury Demand.pdf)

Two FBI agents listed as defendants are identified by name: Robert B. Thompson and Jeff Sokolowski.

Nothing to get excited about, the big threat is still the Tea Party!

(CNS News)—  It’s Spring and Occupy Wall Street has come out of hibernation. With a series of actions, the movement is pushing radical confrontations with companies, cities and citizens.

“Activists with The 99% Spring coalition already have disrupted shareholder meetings this year at EQT Corp. (EQT), Carnival Cruise Lines (CCL) and BNY Mellon (BK). Now they’ve announced a full schedule of ‘non-violent direct action’ at shareholder meetings,” according to Kent Hoover, the Washington Bureau Chief for the Phoenix Business Journal. [...]

But that’s only a hint at how radical the movement is trying to become. The Occupiers have announced a partnership with hardcore radical AIDS activists ACT UP. According to the liberal Nation, “a quarter century afters [sic] its founding, one of the original direct action pioneers is joining forceswith the new kid on the block: Occupy Wall Street.”

ACT UP is planning a “march on Wall Street this Wednesday, April 25, starting in the morning at City Hall and ending in the financial district. ACT UP is hoping the event will attract hundreds of protesters for what they describe as a ‘daylong siege in Lower Manhattan.’”

ACT UP was radically anti-Catholic, invading a Mass held by John Cardinal O’Connor, Archbishop of New York in 1987. According to a positive profile in the left-wing publication Alternet:

“Four thousand angry queers were cordoned off on one side of Fifth Avenue, safely contained behind barricades, their chanting not quite loud enough to penetrate the heavy bronze doors and thick walls of St. Patrick’s Cathedral. Over the next few minutes, those queers fought their way across Fifth Avenue and stormed the cathedral, disrupting the Mass and igniting a firestorm…”

See, the Supreme Court is calling out Obama and his regime for being so damn stupid! Again.

Washington Times:

Supreme Court justices took a dim view of the Obama administration’s claim that it can stop Arizona from enforcing immigration laws, telling government lawyers during oral argument Wednesday that the state appears to want to push federal officials, not conflict with them.

The court was hearing arguments on Arizona’s immigration crackdown law, which requires police to check the immigration status of those they suspect are in the country illegally, and would also write new state penalties for illegal immigrants who try to apply for jobs.

The Obama administration has sued, arguing that those provisions conflict with the federal government’s role in setting immigration policy, but justices on both sides of the aisle struggled to understand that argument.

“It seems to me the federal government just doesn’t want to know who’s here illegally,” Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. said at one point…

Solicitor General Donald B. Verrilli Jr. said the federal government has limited resources and should have the right to determine the extent of calls it gets about possible illegal immigrants.

“These decisions have to be made at the national level,” he said.

But even Democratic-appointed justices were uncertain of that.

“I’m terribly confused by your answer,” said Justice Sonia Sotomayor, who went on to say that the federal government can always decline to pick up illegal immigrants when Arizona officials call.
