Pyramids to be Destroyed?
I am sure all of you know and have seen scads of pictures and movies of the pyramids in Egypt. Well, now ala taliban, the islamics who are going to be running Egypt want to destroy the pyramids!
The pyramids at Giza are the most stunning sight I have ever seen.
True, their lonely eminence is threatened by Cairo’s unlicensed building sprawl, with half completed houses inching their way towards them.
Surveying them at night as the calls to prayer multiplied into a thunder of sound from central Cairo already told me a few years back what was coming.
For now members of the Nour (The Light) Salafist party, which won 20 per cent of the vote in recent elections, are talking about putting an end to the ‘idolatry’ represented by the pyramids.
This means destruction — along the lines essayed by the Afghan Taliban who blew up the Banyam Buddhas — or ‘concealment’ by covering them with wax. Tourists would presumably see great blobs rather than the perfectly carved steps.
This last suggestion was made by Abdel Moneim Al-Shahat, a Nour candidate for parliament. Apart from wanting to do away with this ‘rotten culture’, this gentleman also wants to ban the Nobel prize winning novels of Naguib Mahfouz, one of many great Egyptian writers.
This is bad news for the 3million Egyptians who depend on the 14million tourists who visit Egypt each year. The people affected are not simply waiters and chambermaids, but taxi drivers, camel and horse ride touts, shop and stall owners and ordinary villagers who make a bit on the side providing tea and snacks for Nile cruises.

Ever heard of anyone in the Tea Party doing this? But MSM and Obama and the democrats won’t talk about this. After all, they love when their shock troops do crap like this.
ALBANY — Vandals on Christmas Eve inflicted the most extensive damage to the Capital Holiday Lights display in Washington Park in its 15-year history there.
Sgt. Lenny Ricchiuti, who heads the Albany Police Athletic League, which puts on the display as a fundraiser, said 15 light displays were damaged, graffiti was sprayed on corporate sign boards, some of which were destroyed and several power cords were cut.
“We took the signs down and replaced them right away because we didn’t want any kids to see this,” Ricchiuti said.
The damage happened sometime very late Friday or early Saturday in relatively isolated sections of the park.
“We found the damage at about 4:45 p.m. Christmas Eve when we came to power up the displays for the night,” Ricchiuti said. “We got to Lowe’s just before they closed at 6 p.m. and bought $2,000 worth of orange extension cords to replace some of the ones that were cut.”
Police estimated the cost of the damage at about $25,000.
Electricians went to the park on Christmas Day to make repairs to the drive-through display of lighted scenes, some animated, that covers a large section of the park.
“This is by far the worst damage we have ever had to the display,” Ricchiuti said.
Police said some of the graffiti messages seemed to echo themes and slogans associated with the recently ended Occupy Albany protest, including “Stop corporate greed” and “Don’t shop at Wal-Mart.”
“We have no proof of anything at this point, but it does not seem like neighborhood kids would be writing these kinds of messages,” Ricchiuti said.

The American Free Press, which markets books like “The Invention of the Jewish People” and “March of the Titans: A History of the White Race,” is urging its subscribers to help it send hundreds of copies of Ron Paul’s collected speeches to voters in New Hampshire. The book, it promises, will “Help Dr. Ron Paul Win the G.O.P. Nomination in 2012!”
Don Black, director of the white nationalist Web site Stormfront, said in an interview that several dozen of his members were volunteering for Mr. Paul’s presidential campaign, and a site forum titled “Why is Ron Paul such a favorite here?” has no fewer than 24 pages of comments. “I understand he wins many fans because his monetary policy would hurt Jews,” read one. The white supremacists, survivalists and anti-Zionists who have rallied behind his candidacy have not exactly been warmly welcomed. “I wouldn’t be happy with that,” Mr. Paul said in an interview Friday when asked about getting help from volunteers with anti-Jewish or antiblack views.
But he did not disavow their support. “If they want to endorse me, they’re endorsing what I do or say — it has nothing to do with endorsing what they say,” said Mr. Paul, who is now running strong in Iowa for the Republican nomination.
The libertarian movement in American politics has long had two overlapping but distinct strains. One, backed to some degree by wealthy interests, is focused largely on economic freedom and dedicated to reducing taxes and regulation through smaller government. The other is more focused on personal liberty and constraints on government built into the Constitution, which at its extreme has helped fuel militant antigovernment sentiment.

Here is someone that is just not in the news anymore. Herman Cain.

I would not blame Herman Cain if he said, Lloyd, I know you mean well, brother. However, the relentless vitriolic media attacks against me have finally subsided since I dropped out of the presidential race. My family and I are finally having some peace. So why on earth would you bring up my name again?
Well, in a nutshell, I just did not like the way the whole “Cain thing” went down. Also, we live in a fast-paced news cycle, “carelessly nuke a person’s life and in two days everyone has moved on,” disposable world. Herman Cain’s courageous bid to serve his country deserves more than “Cain…wasn’t he the black dude sex fanatic who ran for president as a Republican?”
OK, Cain is gone, and we conservatives must focus on selecting our candidate to defeat Obama in 2012. I got it. But it breaks my heart, seeing what happened to this “good man.” Cain was attacked from both sides of the aisle. A few conservative pundits even accused Cain of not seriously seeking the Oval Office, but instead simply seeking self-promotion.
Please do not get me wrong. I realize that playing with the big boys in the national arena is tough. I just did not realize how much tougher and how blatantly unfair it is for conservatives. As a conservative seeking to win the Republican presidential nomination, Cain endured a deep rectal vetting not required even of our current president. As a matter of fact, we still know very little about Obama’s history.
Obama is a liberal. Thus, the liberal media deems probing Obama’s history and associations, and even using his middle name, to be racist.
As a black conservative myself, I was excited about black America meeting Herman Cain — a brilliant black businessman who loves God and country. Cain’s message was a breath of fresh air, a striking contrast to the absurd victim- and entitlement-minded garbage coming out of the mouths of too many successful rich blacks who say, Yes, we are multimillionaires, but America is still racist, sucks, and owes us.
Unfortunately, here is how this great black role model was introduced to much of black America. My 84-year-old dad phoned me: “Do you know this Herman McCain who is involved in all these sex scandals?” I replied, “His name is Herman Cain, dad.” I then proceeded to tell my dad about the great man I know.
Think about this, folks: Cain’s candidacy and reputation, in the minds of many, was destroyed by unproven “he said, she said” allegations. Please do not come back at me arguing about whether or not Cain was qualified for the office. I am not talking about that. I am talking about the no-holds-barred, nothing-is-off-limits, over-the-top, relentless campaign to destroy this decent man.
Good Lord — the allegations went from “possible” sexual gestures to Cain supposedly forcibly reaching under a woman’s skirt. Since Cain has dropped out of the race, all of his accusers have vanished. Imagine that.
