OCEAN CITY, Md. (WJZ) — A group of Maryland watermen make a rare catch off the coast of Ocean City: a lobster that is bright blue!
Mary Bubala explains he’s become an overnight sensation and is now headed for a life of fame.
It was a routine day on the water for the crew of the Pot Luck out of west Ocean City. But when the day’s catch is in, it’s anything but routine. A bright blue lobster was mixed in among its red and brown brothers and sisters. It’s a genetic pigment mutation thought to only occur in one of every two million lobsters.
The boat’s captain, John Gourley, and mate Tim Aulinskis knew they had something special. The crew of the Pot Luck brought the lobster–who they nicknamed Toby–from 100 miles off the Ocean City coast all the way back to Martin Fish Company, where he’s become a celebrity overnight.

Looks like Obama granted Executive Privilege:
President Obama has granted an 11th-hour request by Attorney General Eric Holder to exert executive privilege over Fast and Furious documents, a last-minute maneuver that appears unlikely to head off a contempt vote against Holder by Republicans in the House.
The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee is expected to forge ahead Wednesday morning with its meeting on the contempt resolution anyway.
If the vote proceeds, Republicans have more than enough votes on committee to pass the resolution. However, Holder would not be considered held in contempt of Congress unless and until the full House approves the measure.
The move by Holder and Obama to lock down some requested documents only complicates the fight over the botched anti-gunrunning operation between the legislative and executive branches.
After Holder made the request to Obama via letter on Tuesday, Deputy Attorney General James Cole wrote to Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., on Wednesday informing him that the president has granted the request.

Holder called the tactics used in Fast and Furious “flawed” and ” unacceptable,” but said the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) has made changes in training and oversight measures to ensure such things never happens again.
Operation Fast and Furious involved agents from ATF allowing illegal sales of guns, believed to be destined for Mexican drug cartels, to slip into Mexico, so that they can track sellers and purchasers. But after weapons found at Mexican and U.S. murders were traced back to the program, it was denounced as a failure.
Meanwhile, a small army of Democrat Party talking heads appeared on TV and radio news programs armed with statements stressing that the ATF snafu was actually a President George W. Bush sanctioned operation.
“It is just another bite at the “blame-Bush” apple for these people,” said political strategist Mike Baker.

Los Angeles parks and libraries could soon be soda-free.
When Councilman Mitch Englander discovered that his daughter was unable to buy anything but sugar-packed sodas in a city park vending machine, he introduced a motion to ban them.
Englander pitched his proposed soda ban at parks and libraries to the city’s Arts, Parks, Health & Aging Committee on Tuesday, CBS reports.
The council member, who serves as president of the local chapter of the American Diabetes Association, talked about how sugary sodas increase rates of childhood obesity and diabetes. He demonstrated that a 20-ounce soda bottle contains about 22 packets of sugar, Encino Patch reports.
“Here in the city of Los Angeles, one in four children is obese,” Englander said to KTLA. “In many of our communities, it’s one in three.” Sodas can also affect young people mentally, he added, even sometimes increasing violence towards others.
Englander’s proposed ban, which he hopes to have approved sometime this summer, heard immediate opposition from the American Beverage Association, which flew representatives from Washington, D.C. to attend the meeting, ABC reports.
“A ban on soda [in] city parks and libraries will do nothing to improve obesity, and it does nothing to educate consumers about nutrition,” said David Thorpe, a representative of the American Beverage Association.

The White House is denying that their invocation of executive privilege implies that Obama administration officials are involved in a coverup of a botched gunrunning operation, accusing House Republicans of playing politics.
“The problem of gunwalking was a field-driven tactic that dated back to the previous Administration, and it was this Administration’s Attorney General who ended it. In fact, the Justice Department has spent the past fourteen months accommodating Congressional investigators, producing 7,600 pages of documents, and testifying at eleven Congressional hearings. Yet, Republicans insist on moving forward with an effort that Republicans and objective legal experts have noted is purely political,” White House communications director Dan Pfeiffer said in a statement.
Congressional Republicans have been investigating an operation within the Department of Justice called the Fast and Furious — demanding that the DOJ release documents pertaining to the investigation. Holder has appeared numerous times before the committee investigating the scandal — but Wednesday, the AG asked the Obama administration to invoke executive privilege to shield the documents at issue.
“Given the economic challenges facing the country, we believe that House Republicans should work with the rest of Congress and the President to create more jobs, not more political theater,” Pfeiffer said.
