Now one would think that the IRS and the rest of the federal government could keep better track of their own employees and make sure they pay their taxes on time. But one would be living in a dream world?
President Barack Obama has preached that all Americans should pay their fair share in taxes, but a government report finds that tens of thousands of federal employees — from staffers in Congress to those in federal agencies and even Obama’s executive office — collectively owe the government billions in back taxes.
Data from the Internal Revenue Service show that more than 279,000 federal employees and retirees owed $3.4 billion in back income taxes as of Sept. 30, 2010.
The data includes 467 employees of the House of Representatives, or about 4.2% of the workforce, who owed more than $8.5 million. In the Senate, 217 employees, or about 3% of the workforce, owed $2.13 million.
Obama’s staff was not immune, either, with 36 people in Obama’s executive office of nearly 1,800 workers — about 2% — owing the government a total of $833,970 in back taxes.
I can say that I rarely go to McDonald’s and eat their food. In fact, I rarely go to any fast food place. And here is yet another reason not to frequent these places.
McDonald’s clientele can finally rest easy, as “dog food” is coming off the menu at the Golden Arches.
In the wake of an outcry by the celebrity chef Jamie Oliver, McDonald’s said on Thursday said it will stop using ammonium hydroxide, a common ingredient in cleaning solutions that’s dubiously dubbed “pink slime,” in its beef patties.
McDonald’s beef producer, Beef Products Inc., says ammonium hydroxide occurs naturally in most foods and helps reduce bacteria. However, Oliver launched a personal campaign against its use in beef throughout the U.S. on his show “Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution.”
According to the Daily Mail, Oliver said beef producers take “trimmings” that would normally go to dog food and wash it with the compound until it is fit for human consumption.
“Imagine how happy an accountant is. You just turned dog food into what can potentially be your kids’ food,” he told “Food Revolution” viewers.
A McDonald’s USA senior director credited the change to the restaurant’s priorities on food safety, not Oliver. But whatever the reasons, the move has been made.
If the use of “pink slime” is a great method to make low-grade meat fit for human consumption, a shift away from that and toward better meat, unless a more favorable cleanser can be found, almost certainly means higher costs.
A media expert says the TV networks treated the State of the Union address as a celebration of President Barack Obama while ignoring some of his key failures.
Assessing the analysis of ABC, CBS and NBC, Dan Gainor with the Media Research Center tells OneNewsNow that the news reporters had the pom-poms out for the president.
“NBC particularly was bad,” says Gainor. “They’re pretty much serving the cheerleading role for Obama. They talked about it being ‘rousing,’ and of course they highlighted that the speech was about ‘fairness’ [and] it was ‘optimistic.’
“[But] that’s exactly the kind of cheerleading that they do for Obama any other day, so it’s not to be surprising.”
In a BiasAlert posted online, MRC chronicles what it calls “fawning” exchanges among NBC’s correspondents as they “framed the [State of the Union] address as a boost for Obama’s re-election campaign.”
Gainor says the media failed to focus on key issues like the president’s rejection of the Keystone XL pipeline.
Editor’s Note:In a poll conducted Wednesday among OneNewsNow readers, 94 percent of more than 4,200 respondents described the bias of the liberal media during this election season as “clearly pro-Obama.”

Now what in the world do these end up in? People food or animal food? And why are they inverted?
…columnist Maureen Dowd has finally awakened to President Obama’s arrogance. [snip]
It’s understandable that a lib would take so long to turn on the messiah, having invested so much in his presidency. But I wonder whether these people ever realize how late they are to the party and how utterly devoid of profundity their belated epiphanies are.
Dowd starts off her latest column describing Obama’s opening appearance at a fundraiser at the Apollo in Harlem: “For eight seconds, we saw the president we had craved for three years: cool, joyous, funny, connected.”
Unless you are a liberal utopian, such as my friend Mark Levin describes in his latest masterpiece, “Ameritopia,” you wouldn’t place so much faith in one deliberately mysterious man to usher in a new, unspecified era, and you especially wouldn’t hold on to the painfully unrealistic hope that after three years, this man will finally present himself to be someone he has never been.
Savor a few of the tardy revelations Dowd has now come to see with pungent clarity:
“The man who became famous with a speech declaring that we were one America, not opposing teams of red and blue states, presides over an America more riven by blue and red than ever.”
“The man who came to Washington on a wave of euphoria has had the presidency with all the joy of a root canal.”
No offense, Maureen, but we could have spared you three years of pining, even four if you care to go back to the campaign. From the beginning, for those not blinded by messianic delusions, Obama revealed himself as singularly divisive, narcissistic, cool and aloof, and dictatorial and as one who believes he is a gift to America rather than the other way around.
But now we have a prominent media liberal in Maureen Dowd acknowledging that he is an empty shell…
Think about it, folks. Next time you hear someone telling you how unelectable this or that potential Republican candidate is, consider how un-reelectable Obama is.

Great article by Howie Carr today…
How profoundly America has changed since January 2009.
I was pondering this the other night during the State of the Union address. Did you know that our elite military units like the Navy SEALs are now examples of America at its absolute finest? Why, wasn’t it just a few years ago that Sen. Dick Durbin was comparing these very same troops to the Khmer Rouge and Joe Stalin’s Red Army?
What used to be Dick Cheney’s hit squad is now a beacon of freedom.
But now of course the president is a Democrat. When Durbin spoke a Republican resided in the White House.
Remember when Theo Epstein snubbed Republican George W. Bush when the rest of the Red Sox [team stats] went to the White House after the 2007 World Series? Nobody said boo. Now Bruins [team stats] goalie Tim Thomas [stats] does the same thing to our PC president and — hey, somebody get a rope!
Since January 2009, natural disasters are no longer the personal fault of the president.
Now that Obama is president, Gen. “Betrayus” is once again Gen. Petraeus, the greatest American military genius since MacArthur, no make that U.S. Grant.
George W. Bush played 30 rounds of golf in eight years and it was dereliction of duty. Obama’s played 80 in three years and it’s a well-deserved rest from his terrible burden of world leadership.
On Jan. 20, 2009, all the homeless people went home. Inflation ended that same day. No longer do dying Americans have to travel to Canada to buy affordable prescription drugs.
The Tea Party — violent rhetoric. Occupy Wall Street and the publicly defecating hippies — in the finest tradition of our Founding Fathers.
Bush mispronounces nuclear — idiot. Obama butchers corpsman — misspoke.
Raising the debt ceiling under Bush — the worst kind of fiscal irresponsibility. Raising the debt ceiling under Obama — a valiant effort by our young president to save the world economy.
McDonald’s jobs under Bush — “burger flipping.” McDonald’s jobs under Obama — entry-level jobs with one of America’s noblest public corporations.
Unemployment rate of 4.5 percent under Bush — “jobless recovery.” Unemployment rate of 8.5 percent under Obama — the new normal.
The Patriot Act under Bush — incipient fascism. The Patriot Act under Obama — yawn.
Words and phrases you haven’t heard since January 2009: “no blood for oil … Cindy Sheehan … not one more dime … quagmire … atrocities … candlelight vigils … not on our watch … waterboarding … Abu Ghraib…
President Obama laid out in his State of the Union speech Tuesday night a continuing path to economic recovery with government fully involved. The candidates seeking the Republican presidential nomination argue that it’s best to get the government out of the way. When it comes to money issues, voters continue to prefer the more conservative course.
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 42% of Likely U.S. Voters say they are fiscal conservatives when it comes to issues such as taxes, government spending and business regulation. Just as many (42%) describe themselves as fiscal moderates. Only 11% are fiscal liberals.
(Telegraph) — North Korea has warned that any of its citizens caught trying to defect to China or using mobile phones during the 100-day mourning period for Kim Jong-il will be branded as “war criminals” and punished accordingly.
There are reports from within the isolated state that food supplies are again dwindling and that there has been an increase in the number of people attempting to cross the border into China. Many of those that do manage to cross the frontier eventually manage to reach South Korea, where an estimated 23,000 defectors have now settled.
The Workers’ Party has issued the stern warning in an effort to deter more from attempting the already perilous journey, apparently in an effort to ensure the stability of the new regime of Kim Jong-un, who took over from his father, according to Good Friends, a South Korean relief group.
People who are caught attempting to flee the poverty and political oppression in the North, as well as those detained in China and sent back over the border, usually end up in the North’s network of hard labour camps, human rights groups have reported, while repeat offenders can expect to be executed.
(what I always have said, this is the country to send all the dirtbag occupiers, liberals and islamics)
Al “I am the race card holder” Sharpton says the Governor of Arizona is RACIST! Geesh…can someone shut this idiot guy up?
