‘US won’t allow disruption in Hormuz’
Fifth Fleet says will not allow any disturbance of maritime traffic in Strait of Hormuz, as Iran threatens to stop ships trying to sail through strategic oil route.
The US Fifth Fleet said on Wednesday that it will not allow any disruption of traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, after Iran threatened to stop ships moving through the strategic oil route.
“The free flow of goods and services through the Strait of Hormuz is vital to regional and global prosperity,” a spokesperson for the Bahrain-based fleet said in a written response to queries from Reuters about the possibility of Iran trying to close the waterway.
“Anyone who threatens to disrupt freedom of navigation in an international strait is clearly outside the community of nations; any disruption will not be tolerated.” Asked whether it was taking specific measures in response to the threat to close the Strait, the fleet said it “maintains a robust presence in the region to deter or counter destabilizing activities”, without providing further detail. Iran’s navy chief warned earlier Wednesday that the Islamic Republic was ready and willing to close the strategic waterway if the West imposes news sanctions targeting Tehran’s oil exports over the country’s suspect nuclear program. When the president of the United States signs a bill into law, it’s expected that he will abide by it. That’s not the case with President Obama, who has a sudden interest in novel legalistic interpretations getting him off the hook from laws he doesn’t like.
On Friday, the president signed the $1 trillion omnibus spending bill, which funds the government for the remaining nine months of the fiscal year. Afterward, he released a statement saying he won’t abide by the law because the Justice Department had advised that certain provisions are “subject to well-founded constitutional objections.”
House Speaker John A. Boehner’s spokesman Kevin Smith told The Washington Times, “This president used to condemn the type of signing statements he is now embracing to ignore the will of Congress and the American people.”
One of the presidential pet peeves is that Capitol Hill put the kibosh on his czars. Those high-level White House appointments aren’t confirmed by the Senate but are central to implementing Mr. Obama’s liberal agenda. Lawmakers specifically blocked funding for salaries and offices for four of his nine czars: health care (who coordinates Obamacare), automobile industry (“car czar”), urban affairs and climate change.
The president protested that defunding those positions “could prevent me from fulfilling my constitutional responsibilities, by denying me the assistance of senior advisers and by obstructing my supervision of executive branch officials.” Thus, he’s going to interpret the law as he sees fit.

A 26-year-old woman allegedly had sex with a seven-year-old girl to prove her love to her married boyfriend.
Margaret Ann O’Neill told police she performed oral sex on the girl to satisfy the ‘sexual appetite’ of her boyfriend Christopher Smith.
She said she had carried out the illegal act in an attempt to show Smith, 32, how much she loved him after he promised to leave his wife for her.

Police said Smith, of Kissimmee, Florida, had manipulated his mistress into carrying out the sex acts.
He was arrested on December 5th after another woman he was having an affair with called police when he asked her to have sex with the same abused seven year old.
Police seized his cell phone and found video footage of Smith having sex with the seven-year-old girl. They also found footage of O’Neill performing oral sex on the child.
Investigators revealed Smith’s wife told them she found a video of him abusing a child in February – but chose not to alert authorities because she ‘wanted to protect’ the child’s family.
In a bid to get further evidence against Smith they set up a sting operation and recorded him talking about abusing children.
Christopher Smith, 32, was arrested after another woman, who was neither Ms O’Neill nor his wife, called police to say he had asked her to perform a similar act on the child. Details of Smith and O’Neill’s arrest have just been released by Orange County Sheriffs.
When O’Neill was questioned, she told police that she performed the acts so that Smith would leave his wife and be with her.
O’Neill said that Smith was a ‘manipulator’ and that she was ‘afraid of what he would do if she did not participate in the sexual activity,’ according to an arrest affidavit.
O’Neill was booked into the Orange County Jail on five counts of sexual battery on a child younger than 12 and three counts of criminal conspiracy to commit sexual battery.
Smith has been charged with 24 counts of sexual battery on a child younger than 12, lewd or lascivious molestation and conspiracy to commit sexual battery.

JOS, Nigeria (AFP) — Gunmen have shot dead a three-year-old girl and her parents near the volatile central Nigerian city of Jos, a government spokesman and residents said Wednesday.
The killing in the Christian-dominated village comes amid growing fears of civil unrest in the country following a deadly string of Christmas attacks claimed by Islamist group Boko Haram.
“Three people — a man, his wife and daughter — have been confirmed killed in that (Uwuk) village. They were attacked in the night while they were asleep,” Plateau state spokesman Ayuba Paro told AFP.
Paro quoted the villagers as saying that attackers who struck late Tuesday were suspected to be Fulani tribesmen, a mostly Muslim group which has been blamed for previous raids on the village.

(Ynet) — Saudi authorities are investigating how Israeli pencils reached one of the kingdom’s biggest retail chains. The Kravitz chain, which markets the pencils in Israel.
The Kravitz chain, which markets the pencils in Israel, was surprised to hear about the affair stirring up the Gulf kingdom.
It turns out that Abu Rialin, a Saudi chain which offers all of its items for two riyals, is selling one of Kravitz’s most popular products – a set of 12 pencils with an eraser.
The pencils are sold with the Kravitz logo in Hebrew and without any attempt to conceal the fact that they are made in Israel.
Kravitz learned about the incident following a report published by Saudi website Jaza.

(Daily Mail) — The Department of Homeland Security makes fake Twitter and Facebook profiles for the specific purpose of scanning the networks for ‘sensitive’ words – and tracking people who use them.
Simply using a word or phrase from the DHS’s ‘watch’ list could mean that spies from the government read your posts, investigate your account, and attempt to identify you from it, acccording to an online privacy group.
The words which attract attention range from ones seemingly related to diseases or bioweapons such as ‘human to animal’ and ‘outbreak’ to other, more obscure words such as ‘drill’ and ‘strain’.
The DHS also watches for words such as ‘illegal immigrant’.
The DHS outlined plans to scans blogs, Twitter and Facebook for words such as ‘illegal immigrant’, ‘outbreak’, ‘drill’, ‘strain’, ‘virus’, ‘recovery’, ‘deaths’, ‘collapse’, ‘human to animal’ and ‘trojan’, according to an ‘impact asssessment’ document filed by the agency.

This is the story that nobody hears. Bitzur added, “We should know the history of the pogrom in Baghdad in 1941, of the Libyan Jews who ended up in Bergen Belsen. It’s time for people to know that there was this part of the Jewish people and its history was brought to an end.”

Some 200 youths were involved in several brawls that took place yesterday evening at the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota.
KARE 11 reports that a fight that broke out in the north food court, allegedly over online rumors that rappers Drake and Lil Wayne were sighted in the area, was soon joined by as many as 10 separate melees in other places throughout the Megamall.
According to the Star Tribune, the incident “had the look of a so-called smash-and-grab flash mob action.”
Several stores were forced to close early on what is considered one of the busiest days of the year for retailers.
At least nine people, mostly juveniles and young adults, were arrested. No serious injuries were reported.

A woman being held hostage along with her 17-month-old son was able to access Facebook and post a status update alerting friends to her situation.
According to police, the unidentified victim had been held inside a home in Sandy, Utah, for five days before she managed to retrieve a laptop, and surreptitiously post a message to her Facebook page warning that she and her son would be “dead by morning.”
The police arrived at the scene a short time later and arrested 33-year-old Troy Reed Critchfield. He was booked into Salt Lake County Jail under suspicion of aggravated kidnapping and assault, forcible sodomy, child abuse, animal cruelty, and several other charges.
Critchfield is the child’s father, according to court documents. He was previously convicted of felony assault against the woman and ordered to serve 120 days in jail. He is still on probation.

But their pickings on the Republican side are slimmer. It’s Ron Paul or it’s nobody.
…there are various flavors of anarchists, white supremacists, conspiracy theorists, and people who are even further off the map. They are a politically underserved demographic and while they won’t win elections, they have the obsessive nature and the time to make a difference.
Ron Paul can’t speak intelligently on immigration because he’s too busy preparing for the day when Americans start seeking refuge in Mexico. Addressing Islamic terrorism is out of the question for the same reason. The knee jerk reflex to weaken even legitimate areas of government responsibility isn’t just destructive, it puts Paul in the position of denying that the problems even exist in order to justify resistance to government solutions.

Occupy Wall Street-Supporting Hacker Group “Anonymous” Tells Members To Plan For “Violent Revolution To Overthrow Government”…
The hackers known as “Anonymous,” who helped organize and support the Occupy movement’s protests, have released an online a survivor guide for citizens “in case of a violent revolution in your country.”
The guide warns protests can be a “bloody mess.” It trains rioters on how to avoid tear gas, rubber bullets and live ammunition.
The 15-page PDF document claims police will not help protesters and may actually be enemies of the revolution while warning that protest groups may be infiltrated by “fake civilians.”
The Anonymous survival guide was published just before the hacker group claimed Sunday to have stolen thousands of credit card numbers and other personal information belonging to clients of U.S.-based security think tank Stratfor.
Anonymous has promised more infiltrations and hacker jobs, saying it has “enough targets lined up to extend the fun fun fun of LulzXmas through the entire next week.”
The group previously claimed responsibility for attacks on major credit card and Internet companies. It has warned it may try to disrupt the U.S. and global banking infrastructure.
“This Guide is for civilians who feel they are about to be caught up in a violent uprising or revolution to overthrow the oppressive government of their country,” begins the Anonymous survival kit.
“Although a revolution in favor of the people is a joyful thing when seen from the outside, it can be a bloody mess for those inside it,” continued the kit.

PITTSFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Detroit is reviewing a religious discrimination complaint against a community for denying a zoning change request to allow construction of a Muslim school.
The Michigan Islamic Academy wants to build at a 26-acre site in Washtenaw County’s Pittsfield Township.
“We are reviewing the matter and whether to proceed with a formal investigation,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Judith Levy told The Detroit News (http://bit.ly/soyS41 ) for a story Tuesday.
On Oct. 26, the township board rejected the request, following an earlier rejection by the township planning commission. School officials say the 200-student school is too big for its location in nearby Ann Arbor.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations said the decision violated the First Amendment right of religious freedom, and it asked the Justice Department to investigate.
“We believe this is a blatant violation of the (school’s) constitutional right to open the school on their property,” said Lena Masri, a lawyer for the group.
