Ten Foot High Stop Signs

Weird. County crew just came through our town. And the stop sign on the main road was replaced with a new stop sign. That is now 10 foot (maybe a bit more) from the ground level to the stop sign! Wonder why? Looking down the street, it seems that the others were also a bit higher than usual. Just so far on the north side of the road. Those on the south side are still the same height. Maybe the country knows something about the snow level coming up in February?

Oh and today is a gorgeous day here! Sunny, a slight wind, and 64F, yes 64 degrees! So wife and I opened up windows to get some of that fresh air flowing through here. And going outside to walk the dog in short sleeve shirt? Wow. This is now Iowa in January?

(Las Vegas Sun) — Just seven months after California-based solar power company Amonix Inc. opened its largest manufacturing plant, in North Las Vegas, the company’s contractor has laid off nearly two-thirds of its workforce.

Flextronics Industrial, the Singapore solar panel manufacturer that partnered with Amonix to staff the new $18 million, 214,000-square-foot plant, laid off about 200 of its 300-plus employees Tuesday.

Amonix’s director of manufacturing operations, Eric Culberson, said the layoffs are part of “retooling” the factory as the company prepares to roll out its next-generation product.

“The new 8700 utility-scale CPV solar power system is a higher efficiency and lower cost,” Culberson said. “Once it is ready, we will ramp back up to meet the demands of the industry.”

Culberson said the job cuts are temporary and expects to begin hiring more people in the second half of the year to meet demand.

The company scaled down at all levels of employment at the plant — which was hiring as recently as three months ago — from entry level assemblers, process engineers, production supervisors and quality-control techs, according to one employee who was laid off.

Culberson said layoffs were made across the board.

Amonix received a $5.9 million investment tax credit through the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act in 2010, and another $12 million in private capital helped finance the plant.

(yes, another so called green company that Obama spent our money on)

A British study billed as “the most comprehensive ever conducted on gender driving differences” has concluded that women are better at parking cars than men.

The study, which relied on surveillence camera footage of over 2,500 drivers across 700 parking garages, was devised by professional driving instructor Neil Beeson, and produced by car park firm NCP.

Among its findings: Women are better than men at tracking down spaces, lining up with the parking space, and reversing into spots “by the book.” Meanwhile, men are better at entering spaces while driving forward, and exhibit more confidence than their female counterparts, leading to quicker parking decisions.

“The results also appear to dispel the myth that men have better spatial awareness than women,” said Beeson. “It shows that us men need to give our partners more respect when it comes to parking. The facts don’t lie.”

Janet Daley, former leftist now right-leaning political commentator living in Britain, says the ideas the President outlined in the State of the Union are based on the very model that is causing the EU to implode, and that his plans call for the United States, a country that was invented to allow people to be free of domination or persecution by the state, to head straight to a catastrophic loss of purpose and identity — as well as making a quite remarkably stupid and unnecessary mistake.

Daley writes:

What was it everybody used to say about the United States? Look at what’s happening over there and you will see our future. Whatever Americans are doing now, we will be catching up with them in another 10 years or so. In popular culture or political rhetoric, America led the fashion and we tagged along behind.

Well, so much for that. Barack Obama is now putting the United States squarely a decade behind Britain. Listening to the President’s State of the Union message last week was like a surreal visit to our own recent past: there were, almost word for word, all those interminable Gordon Brown Budgets that preached “fairness” while listing endless new ways in which central government would intervene in every form of economic activity.

Later, in a television interview, Mr Obama described his programme of using higher taxes on the wealthy to bankroll new government spending as “a recipe for a fair, sound approach to deficit reduction and rebuilding this country”. To which we who come from the future can only shout, “No-o-o, go back! Don’t come down this road!”

White House Refuses To Condemn Occupy Oakland Riots, Flag Burning…

After all, these are Obama’s own people….

Fox News:

QUESTION:

Occupy Wall Street protesters are making headlines again as you know over the weekend 400 protesters were arrested in Oakland and now today the national park services is expected to clear out protesters potentially as we speak from a site here in DC.

What is your reaction, is the administration concerned that some of these protesters are taking things too far?

CARNEY:

Well, with regards to Oakland that’s obviously a local law enforcement matter. Here in Washington I would refer you for specifics to the US National Park Services and US Park Police and our position has been and continues to be, we need to balance first Amendment concerns, the demonstrate the right to speak freely with public safety concerns and public health concerns and we understand local law enforcement as well as National Park Service  are weighing these considerations when making these decisions and that’s appropriate.

PROVIDENCE, RI, January 30, 2012 – Demonstrators from the Occupy Wall Street movement threw condoms on Catholic schoolgirls, refused to allow a Catholic priest to give a closing prayer, and shouted down a pro-life speaker at a Rhode Island right to life rally on Thursday, according to its organizer. The event marked the third time protesters associated with the movement have disrupted a pro-life meeting in a week.

About two-dozen members of Occupy Providence hiked from Burnside Park to the 39th Annual Pro-Life State House Rally organized by the Rhode Island State Right to Life Committee on Thursday.

The pro-life organization’s executive director, Barth E. Bracy, told LifeSiteNews.com that, near the end of the rally, the Occupiers “strategically fanned out with military precision.”

That’s when they “started showering condoms down on some of the girls from a Catholic high school.”

They gathered around speakers at the podium, shouting them down or otherwise jostling them and members of the audience.

Bracy, who finished only a quarter of his keynote address before being drowned out by chants and catcalls, said the Occupiers – who carried a large sign reading “Occupy Providence” and wore distinguishing arm bands – physically bumped several people. “They’re touching you. They’re swarming you,” he said.

Bracy said he was disappointed when he tried to ask a man from the national Occupy Wall Street movement, who identified himself as “Dallas,” what opposing the right to life had to do with economics.  “You can’t have a reasoned conversation with these people,” he said, “They simply try to taunt you. They’re smug, snarky, arrogant. You won’t get a straight answer.”

(just freaking ass degenerate bastards that the liberals condone, love, want more of)

“There is another class of colored people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs, and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs — partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do do not want to lose their jobs.”

– – Booker T. Washington circa 1901

Black Quill & Ink is compiling a list of people who Mr. Washington was speaking of in that quote. They are currently fomenting racism for monetary and political gain.

Guess who are the first two people they list?

Forget President Obama’s speech on Tuesday night, the current state of our union can be summed up in just two words: We’re broke.

The president devoted just 189 words to the deficit and our growing national debt, but the fact is that once again this year we will borrow 32 cents out of every dollar we spend. Overall, our national debt now tops $15.2 trillion (with Congress raising the debt ceiling to $16.4 trillion last week). And that doesn’t count the unfunded liabilities of Social Security and Medicare. Throw those in, and our total indebtedness exceeds $120 trillion.

That means that if one counts only the official national debt, every man, woman and child in America owes $48,700. Include the unfunded liabilities of Social Security and Medicare, and every one of us is in debt to the tune of $189,000.

Or look at it another way. One can’t pick up a newspaper these days without reading a story about the debt crisis in Europe. France, for example, just had its credit rating downgraded. Yet, measured as a percentage of GDP (the value of all goods and services produced in a country over a year), our budget deficit is roughly a quarter larger than France’s. In fact, among European countries, only Greece and Ireland have larger deficits this year than we do.

The debt figures paint an even grimmer picture. If one includes all the unfunded liabilities of pension and health-care systems, Greece’s total debt equals 875% of its GDP. France, the next-most insolvent country in Europe, owes 570% of GDP. The United States, however, now owes 885% of GDP, more than any other industrialized country.

We have been able to avoid disaster so far only because, as the world’s preferential currency, other countries have been willing to lend us money cheaply. But that is not going to continue forever. And if our creditors begin to hike interest rates, we will be facing the same economic consequences facing so much of Europe today.

(and people, four more years of this shit, plus some, if Obama and the other liberals are re-elected!)

Obama Campaign now going to Class Warfare

WASHINGTON — With Republicans distracted by an increasingly divisive primary battle, President Barack Obama and his aides have begun a high-stakes effort to change how voters look at the main issue in the 2012 election – the nation’s continued economic troubles.

Republicans would like to make the November election a referendum on Obama’s economic record. For much of his presidency, they have pounded away at monthly statistics showing high unemployment and anemic growth.

“We’re seeing continuing high levels of unemployment. We see home values declining; foreclosures remain at record levels,” former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney points out often. Obama, he says, “has failed in the job he was elected to do.”

Until recently, the main Democratic response was that although Obama’s stimulus plan and other measures had not cured the economy, they had averted another Great Depression. But party strategists concede that as a slogan, “could have been worse” is more likely to win support among economists than average voters.

So increasingly, Obama and his aides have switched to a longer view, trying to focus attention on what they portray as the president’s defense of the middle class. That positioning, they hope, will set up a helpful contrast with his November opponent.

“This isn’t just about recovering from this recession,” said a senior adviser to Obama, one of several who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly about internal White House discussions.”This is about saving the middle class from a decline that’s been going on for three decades.”

(of course, this is very obvious, as Obama and the liberals have been on a class warfare kick for too long.)

A Massachusetts woman says TSA agents at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas confiscated her cupcakebecause its frosting violated TSA regulations by being too gel-like.

“I just thought this was terrible logic,” Rebecca Hains of Peabody told NBC News.

The Salem State University communications professor says the red velvet cupcake, which was sealed inside an 8oz mason jar, was a gift from a student.

She says TSA agents at Boston’s Logan International Airport let her through without incident.

“The TSA agent who saw them, picked them up and said, ‘these look delicious,’ and sent me on my way,” she told 7NEWS. When she confronted the McCarran agents with this fact, she was told that the agents at Logan must not have done their job.

A TSA spokesperson said the matter was under review, and that passengers were generally allowed to bring cupcakes onboard with them.

“It’s not really about the cupcake; I can get another cupcake,” Hains said. “It’s about an encroachment on civil liberties. We’re just building up a resistance and tolerance to all these things they’re doing in the name of security, when it’s really theater. It is not keeping us safe.”

(I made that last bit bold so you would notice it and read it a bit more carefully)

The DNC’s front line troops readying to do as they are told….

Warning to America’s superrich: Think Occupy Wall Street disappeared in winter’s cold? Wrong: The 99% just declared a new aggressive, covert special-ops war strategy to take back our democracy in 2012.

No more peaceful tent encampments in parks. No more Mahatma Gandhi nice-guy stuff. Not enough. Escalation time. Wall Street, the superrich and their Washington lobbyists are tone deaf, blinded by greed, trapped in their post-2008 business-as-usual bubble.

Warning; OWS tells us America’s going to be shocked by not one but hundreds of wake-up calls in 2012.

How? In a recent Washington Post column, OWS leaders say they are accelerating their battle strategy in 2012. In what amounts to a new declaration of war that promises to electrify the 2012 elections, OWS will be using new asymmetrical warfare strategies, write two of the men who have been the driving force behind the movement since early this year: Kalle Lasn, the editor-in-chief of Adbusters magazine, and senior editor Micah White.

Listen to some of the specific guerrilla tactics they warn will be used in their 2012 “American Spring” assault: A “marked escalation of surprise, playful, precision disruptions, rush-hour flash mobs, bank occupations, ‘occupy squads’ and edgy theatrics.” And in a New Yorker magazine interview shortly after New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s “military-style operation,” Lasn warned: “this means escalation, pushing us one step closer to a revolution.”

Guess how many people were beaten to death at a Tea Party rally?

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — More than 30 people gathered for a vigil to remember a man who died after a fight in the Occupy Eugene camp.

Occupy Eugene leader Kristen Carpenter told KVAL-TV, “We’re sorry we couldn’t have stopped the violence in the system sooner.” She said the Friday night vigil was not just for 54-year-old Rich Youngblood of Florence but also for all victims of street violence.

Police said Youngblood was beaten and choked at the camp on Monday. Authorities are still investigating.

The City Council ordered the camp be disbanded. The Eugene Register-Guard reported that a handful of campers remained in the camp on Friday afternoon and nobody was being allowed in except for members of a designated cleaning crew.

Guess how many times you heard this about a Tea Party get-together?

WASHINGTON (AP) — A U.S. Park Police officer who authorities say was kicked in the groin during a skirmish at the Occupy DC encampment was in so much pain that he vomited at the scene and had to be taken to the hospital, according to charging documents released Friday.

James D. Ruffin, of Sandy Springs, Ga., faces charges of assaulting a police officer and assault with a dangerous weapon. He was ordered detained Friday until a Tuesday court hearing. His lawyer, Lisbeth Sapirstein, declined to comment.

Authorities say Ruffin kicked the officer in the groin as the officer and others were trying to subdue him and put him into a police car. Another officer sprained his vertebrae during the scuffle, the documents say.

The scuffle took place Thursday afternoon after Park Police came to McPherson Square, the site of the Occupy DC encampment, for a report of a man assaulting a woman inside a tent. The officers encountered a woman who pointed out Ruffin and told them that he had entered her tent, vomited and jumped on her and others inside.

Police say Ruffin refused to present identification, cursed and yelled racial slurs at officers, and refused to stand up to be arrested. He kicked at officers who attempted to place him in the cruiser, and once inside, kicked the rear car door and bent the door from the door frame, authorities said. Officers used a stun gun at one point to subdue him, according to the documents. Ruffin is described in court papers as 6 feet 3 inches tall and 300 pounds.

This is your normal 7th to 9th century islamic law at work in the 21st century! No screaming from the liberals for sure. And these islamics say they belong to the religion of peace? Crap on them, there is a place in hell for all who participate in such savagery or promote such savagery or believe in such savagery.

Oh, and yet the islamics of the world rally and cry and whine and bitch about the western world?

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — Authorities in Iran said Sunday they are again moving ahead with plans to execute a woman sentenced to death by stoning on an adultery conviction in a case that sparked an international outcry, but are considering whether to carry out the punishment by hanging instead.

Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani is already behind bars, serving a 10-year sentence on a separate conviction in the murder of her husband. Amid the international outrage her case generated, Iran in July 2010 suspended plans to carry out her death sentence on the adultery conviction.

On Sunday, a senior judiciary official said experts were studying whether the punishment of stoning could be changed to hanging.

“There is no haste. . . . We are waiting to see whether we can carry out the execution of a person sentenced to stoning by hanging or not,” said Malek Ajdar Sharifi, the head of justice department of East Azerbaijan province, where Ashtiani is jailed.

“As soon as the result (of the investigation) is obtained, we will carry out the sentence,” he said, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

The charge of a married woman having an illicit relationship requires a punishment of stoning, he said.

Again, ever hear of this happening at a Tea Party rally?

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Occupy Nashville protesters have been together since October 6 on Legislative Plaza. But on a day that many intended to be full of festivities, quite the opposite took center stage for a time.

“Well, today we’re celebrating mainly Christmas, but all holidays, of course,” said protester Lauren Mindos.

The group’s plan to celebrate the holidays together seemed fitting, especially since they have spent so much time together over the past few months and friends have become like family.

“It was a beautiful day. There was music,” explained Mindos. “There was dancing.”

However, that peace didn’t last the entire day.

Tensions flared between Occupy protesters on Christmas day. The situation got so bad, a NewsChannel 5 videographer had to call police for help.

NewsChannel 5’s videojournalist was on assignment at Legislative Plaza Sunday covering the holiday celebration, when the angle of the story suddenly changed. Two of the protesters started arguing with each other; one of them was three-months pregnant. Harsh words led to hair pulling and punching, and both of them landed on the ground.

While other protesters tried to break up the situation, NewsChannel 5’s videographer called 911 for help. Medics rushed to the scene and took the pregnant protester to the hospital to be checked out. Police started investigating the situation, and charges may be filed.

When will our government stop funding this idiots? Why do we even bother funding islamics?

(JPost) — Mohammed Shtayyeh, member of the Fatah Central Committee and one of the Palestinian Authority negotiators with Israel, was quoted Sunday as saying that the Palestinians may cancel the agreements signed between the PLO and Israel.

Meanwhile, some PLO and Fatah leaders have privately criticized Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas for agreeing to incorporate Hamas into the PLO.

At least three senior officials in Ramallah have voiced strong reservations over the decision, a Fatah official told The Jerusalem Post. He said that those who were opposed to the move were worried that Hamas would replace Fatah as the dominant party in the PLO.

One official was quoted as saying that Abbas was paving the way for Hamas and Islamic Jihad to take control not only over the PLO, but the entire West Bank as well.

Shtayyeh’s comments were published by the London-based Asharq Al Awsatnewspaper.

This was not the first time that a senior PA official had talked about the possibility of abrogating the Oslo Accords.

The comments came less than 48 hours after Hamas and Islamic Jihad agreed to join a temporary leadership of the PLO that would prepare for new elections for the organization’s two key bodies – the Palestine National Council and Executive Committee.
