our dog

Winter is Back!

Yesterday started off as a good sunny day. But that went quick by noon time! Got cloudy and very windy. And the temps started dropping and dropping. Then in the evening, with winds gusting up to 45mph, the snow came. Of course, the wind blew it somewhere, as the ground is just barely covered in white.

Woke up this morning to 10F, blowing winds, no snow. Windchill was a cold -9F. Just a nice day to stay in the house. Times like this, I am glad I am retired and do not need to leave the house for anything.

And now for continuing news on our dog Coco. She is not doing that good. Earlier this morning, she puked and puked. Then (this does not happen at all with her) she had to go and went on the kitchen floor. At least not on the carpet! Since then, she has not drank any water or taken any food. Can’t even get her to take her medicine. Tried with apple sauce, then with egg yolk, and then peanut butter. She would not even sniff, much less lick or eat. Again, the vet said it could be a virus she has and to monitor her.

Wife took her bed and bedding to wash and dry. So now she is on an old pillow covered in an old blanket. Only signs of life so far for her, is the bug man (comes once a month to spray and to reset any mouse traps) came a bit ago. She got up and started barking and barking, Did not stop until he finally left. Then she went back to her bed and laid down. Still will not take her medicine.

Yes, we are very worried about our little dog. And do hope she gets better as fast as possible.

Walid Shoebat: Terrorist welcomed in the Oval Office and the real truth about 9/11

I recommend you read this entire article by Walid Shoebat and Ben Barrackabout Hadi al-Ameri, a terrorist who was part of an Iraqi delegation recently invited to the White House. It’s a bit lengthy, but in uncovering Hadi al-Ameri’s history, we learn much more about the Iran-Hezzbollah-al-Qaeda alliance that made the 9/11 attacks possible. Yeah, it wasn’t just al-Qaeda that attacked us.

A new study by a group called Health Affairs says a soda tax will cut health care costs $17 billion per year.

Of course, no proof was shown it would actually take place but if it did that means soda companies would sell less which means they’d fire people which means trucking companies would have less to carry and they’d fire people and restaurants would take a hit on their bottom line and they’d fire people.

For years, those of us on the right pointed out that the free market ought to be the place to determine whether or not alternative energy sources work ….. and not federally or government subsidized efforts. And the waste on wind farms is enormous! They really should be closed down and move on to something a lot better.

Now the Brits are finally realizing it when it comes to wind farms.

Civitas, an independent think tank, recently published a report by British economist Ruth Lea — director of the manufacturing renewal project at Civitas and an economic adviser to the Arbuthnot Banking Group – that concludes the expense of wind farms and need for backup energy makes harvesting wind “inordinately expensive and ineffective at cutting emissions.”

According to the U.K.’s Climate Change Act, signed in 2008, greenhouse gas emission goals set a 20 percent reduction by 2020 compared to 1990 levels and an 80 percent cut by 2050. Such drastic reductions fundamentally change the way many businesses operate and require adoption of renewable energy or carbon-cutting technology. Since generation of electricity alone accounted for nearly a third of the U.K.’s CO2 emissions in 2010, according to the report, this is clearly an area where the government is seeking to make improvements.

The Telegraph reports that the U.K. plans to build as many as 32,000 wind turbines in the next two decades. This initiative is part of a goal set by EU’s Renewables Directive to have 15 percent of the energy produced in the U.K. come from renewables by 2020.

The Civitas report states that while wind power looks like a competitive option for alternative energy, additional costs associated are not being considered and may in fact negate the carbon-saving benefits:

The costing of wind-power electricity generation is clearly very complex. But one conclusion can safely be drawn and that is that wind-power is expensive – especially offshore. Under these circumstances it seems unwise to be embarking on a huge programme of investment in wind generated electricity, especially when the country is facing grave economic challenges. This analysis also ignores the perceived environmental costs of wind-power, especially onshore wind turbines.

According to the report, Lea finds that the expense of maintaining backup forms of energy for periods of unreliable wind power could mean that “energy users pay twice: once for the window-dressing of renewables, and again for the fossil fuels that the energy sector continues to rely on.”

Mercedes Benz the car company. Using a communist icon to sell cars? All the more reason not to buy their crap vehicles!

(CBS News) — “Some colleagues still think that car-sharing borders on communism,” Mercedes-Benz Chairman of the Board of Management Dieter Zetsche said onstage at CES today, speaking about Mercedes’ new CarTogether initiative. “But if that’s the case, viva la revolucion!”

To be sure, a luxury-car maker like Mercedes is not actually promoting communism. But during his CES talk, Zetsche pushed hard on a vision that the company has for a greener future that allows drivers to reduce emissions by using connected and social technology to easily find compatible passengers to share rides with.

Still, it’s odd — and no doubt intended to stir up conversation — to hear a company so inexorably tied to money and lavish lifestyles invoking philosophies like communism. Especially with a picture of Cuban revolutionary Che Guevara towering over Zetsche as he talked. Of course, Che’s signature beret sported a Mercedes logo.

Either way, Mercedes’ car-sharing technology is part of the company’s larger vision for a smart-car future, one it’s already implementing in its cars, and which it thinks can help drivers save money on fuel, and save the earth from excess emissions at the same time. As well, Mercedes wants to leverage the latest in telematics technology to give those who plunk down small fortunes on its vehicles the most up-to-date driving/technology experience.

(Will they also adopt Che Guevara’s catchy slogan, “to establish Socialism rivers of blood must flow?”)

Occupy Wall Street Founder Elizabeth Warren Refuses To Swear Off Taking Wall Street Money…

She’s found a loophole to explain away her brazen hypocrisy, the Wall Street money she accepts is good Wall Street money, Scott Brown’s is bad Wall Street money.

Elizabeth Warren — who hauled in an eye-popping $5.7 million the last three months of 2011 — refused to swear off Wall Street money yesterday, instead claiming that any money she gets from deep-pocketed financiers is coming from those who “want reform.”

“There are people on Wall Street who actually believe we need better rules, fairer rules,” Warren said last night as she toured small businesses in Davis Square in Somerville.

Taliban Take Time Off From Beheading People Just Long Enough To Condemn Marines Seen Urinating On Dead Jihadists As “Barbaric”…

Did someone say “barbaric?”
(Telegraph) — Afghan President Hamid Karzai and his Taliban enemy have denounced a video which appears to show American Marines urinating on the blood-soaked bodies of dead insurgency fighters.

A Taliban spokesman described the scenes as ‘barbaric.’ The short video clip features four khaki clad Marines, some in sunglasses, laughing as they urinate on three corpses. One soldier uses high-pitch comic voice as he says ‘have a great day buddy.’

( of course the liberals like obama and his regime, the main stream press, are all over themselves condemning the marines! yet are damn silent when these islamic assholes behead and torture our men to death! the liberals in this country are worse than communists or socialists or fascists. they are all islamic asshole lovers!)

(oh, and dumbass republican top asshole John McCain? He sides with the taliban and cair and wants an investigation into our marines and punishment meted out! this old shithead has got to go!)

WTF? Now is the time for Obama, Holder and the DOJ to step in and STOP this crap! This company owes us taxpayers millions and yet they have the freaking gall to want to pay bonuses to keep people? This company is in bankruptcy. Shut them down and any and all assets turned over to the taxpayers!

Now seems an unlikely time for handing out bonuses at bankrupt Solyndra LLC, but that’s the plan of company attorneys intending to dole out up to a half-million dollars to persuade key employees to stay put.

Nearly two dozen Solyndra employees could receive bonuses ranging from $10,000 to $50,000 each under a proposal filed by Solyndra’s attorneys in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Delaware.

The attorneys say the extra money will add motivation at a time when workers at the solar company have little job security and more responsibilities because so many of their colleagues have been fired.

The names of the bonus-eligible employees are not disclosed in the court filings that outline the bonus proposal. None of the employees is among the so-called corporate “insiders” — top officers or members of the board of directors, records show.

The proposed bonus recipients include nine equipment engineers, six general business and finance employees and up to two information technology workers.

The biggest bonus, for $50,000, would go to a Solyndra employee whose job title is listed as a senior director with a base salary of $206,499 per year. Two senior managers stand to receive bonuses of $30,000 and $32,500.

Obama Doesn’t Understand

Took Coco our dog to the vet. Blood tests, x-rays, and a general checking of her from front to back. Possible diabetes (very small possibility at this time)  or Cushing disease (bit bigger possibility than diabetes, but not large enough to get excited now). She checked out okay on everything! So vet put her on antibiotics for a week to see if it helps her get more active. Just have to make sure she has plenty of water and food and to make sure she does drink and eat. And make sure to take her out whether she wants to or not. Plus she got her nails trimmed out. Yes, it did cost! But way cheaper than if it was me or my wife going to the doctor for the same procedures!

She is back home and the same as before I took her. Just laying in her bed, only getting out to get a bit of water and food. Do hope she gets better.

If not, then we are talking some high cost procedures! Geesh, blood work done by specialists in dogs. Cat scan? Other stuff.

Barack Obama has been quoted saying that Republicans threaten the “very core of what this country stands for.”

How the heck would he know? Oh, he might know about Republicans, all right — but does he know even the slightest thing about the core of this country?

Even needing to ask the question provides the answer. It matters not where he was born; this man is deeply and fiercely alien to the American tradition.

Fox-

A mixed martial arts fighter from Minnesota has been knocked out from his job as an assistant wrestling coach following comments he made about President Obama last month, he told FoxNews.com.

Jacob Volkmann, 31, of White Bear Lake, Minn., said he was placed on paid administrative leave on Friday by the White Bear Lake School District after he invited Obama to make an appointment with him for a “glass-ectomy” on Dec. 30.

“A glass-ectomy is when you cut your belly button out and put a piece of glass in there so when you have your head up your butt you can see where you’re going,” Volkmann told a reporter following his victory over Efrain Escudero at UFC 141.

Volkmann said at least one parent contacted school officials and complained about his latest comments regarding the commander in chief. In 2011, Volkmann was visited by the Secret Service after he said Obama was “not too bright” and that “someone’s got to knock some sense into that idiot.” No charges were filed.

“I went to practice on Friday and they wanted to meet before practice,” he told FoxNews.com. “They said, as of now, you cannot be around the kids.”

Volkmann, who has not been contacted by the Secret Service for his latest anti-Obama tirade, said the comments were intended as a “joke” but stood by the remarks.

“The thing is, the joke was made to make people look at why I said it,” he continued. “I only have a few seconds on air, so I need to make them count. [But] I feel that way. It was just a joke.”

Volkmann said he’ll consider contacting an attorney if his mandated leave lasts longer than two weeks. He has worked as an assistant wrestling coach at the 8,100-student school district for four years, he said.

Bill O’Reilly Defends Gateway Pundit From Bogus Racism Charges By LA Times (Video)

by Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit
Bill O’Reilly and Bernie Goldberg tonight both agreed that the racism charges against Gateway Pundit by the LA Times were completely bogus.

Press TV -

The United States has reportedly released three high-ranking Taliban leaders from Guantanamo Bay Prison in return for an American soldier held by the militant group.

The move is also considered as a big concession by Washington to persuade the Taliban to the negotiating table.

The three senior Taliban leaders are reportedly on their way to Qatar despite strong opposition from Afghanistan.

According to media reports, the released prisoners include Mullah Khair Khowa, a former interior minister, Noorullah Noori, a former governor in northern Afghanistan and maybe Mullah Fazl Akhund, a Taliban Army Chief of Staff.

Kabul says the prisoners must be sent directly to Afghanistan, stressing that their transfer to Qatar is a breach of Afghanistan’s sovereignty, Afghan laws or the Afghan constitution.

The Taliban, which is planning to open a political office in Qatar for peace talks with Washington, has recently been pressing hard for the release of its top commanders from US custody ahead of possible negotiations.

Analysts, however, believe that US President Barack Obama’s decision to release the top Taliban commanders will do tremendous harm to American national security and to his prospects for reelection.

Afghan President Hamid Karzai, under US pressure, agreed to let the militant group establish an office outside Afghanistan. The Afghan president strongly rejected the idea previously, saying that he was not consulted with over the potential venue of a Taliban office.

In December, the Afghan government recalled its Ambassador to Qatar Khalid Ahmad Zakaria to protest at Doha “secretly negotiating” with the US and Germany over the opening of a Taliban office in Qatar.

Washington’s decision to hold negotiations with the Taliban comes after a decade the US-led war on Afghanistan under the pretext of toppling the Taliban regime.

The 2001 US-led invasion of Afghanistan has claimed numerous civilian lives and destroyed the country’s infrastructure.

On Jan. 10, 1776, a little more than a year after emigrating from England, Thomas Paine anonymously published his famous radical pamphlet Common Sense. In it he urged the American Colonies to declare independence and immediately severe all ties with the British monarchy. Published just as colonists learned of George III’s speech proclaiming the American Colonies in rebellion against the Crown, Common Sense became an instant best seller with several thousand copies sold within days.

Pamphlet by Thomas Paine.
Common Sense; Addressed to the Inhabitants of America, on the following interesting subjects. I. Of the Origin and Design of Government in General, with concise Remarks on the English Constitution. II. Of Monarchy and Hereditary Succession. III. Thoughts of the present State of American Affairs. IV. Of the Present Ability of American, with some miscellaneous Reflections.
Printed in 1776 in Philadelphia and sold by W. and T. Bradford.

Pamphlets and broadsides played a critical role in disseminating information in the eighteenth century. They provided the equivalent of the nightly news on TV. They reached a wide audience. In 1776, English Quaker Thomas Paine wrote his Common Sense, followed by The Crisis. Both of these pamphlets were influential in supporting the quest for independence.

Geesh,,,,Princess Pelosi really has it in for the Tea Party. Yet she gushes on, like her buddies obama, etal., about the occupy assholes! Sends out this email to her democrat base:

From: Nancy Pelosi (dccc@dccc.org)
Subject: Commit to 2012
Date: January 10, 2012 12:06:02 PM EST
To: Drew

Drew –

The 2012 elections are upon us.

Two years ago this month, the disastrous Supreme Court ruling, Citizens United, opened the floodgates to unlimited corporate money in politics. And for the last two years, we, as a nation, have been paying the price.

We’ve seen firsthand the brand of Tea Party extremism that money can buy. It’s one that neglects our middle class and our most vulnerable — from our children, to our seniors, to our working families fighting to keep food on the table and a roof over their heads.

These same Republican extremists take no shame in protecting the billionaires and Big Oil companies that spend millions to attack Democrats.

We have set a goal of recruiting 1,000 new Democrats dedicated to 2012 before tonight’s New Hampshire Primary results are announced. Your support will help show our candidates, our opponents, and the media that grassroots Democrats are ready to hold Tea Party Republicans accountable every step of the way through the 2012 election.

Democrats are fighting every day to hold Republicans accountable for their reckless policies, but we cannot do it without your support.

While Republicans rely on their secret billionaire backers, we rely on you. Individual donors like you contribute more than 75% of DCCC funds — and 90 cents on every dollar goes directly to help Democrats win in 2012.

Together, we can overcome the special interest money fueling the Republicans’ campaigns, affirm our core Democratic values and win a Democratic House Majority in 2012.

Thank you.

Nancy Pelosi

In his first campaign speech of the election year, President Obama defended big government and condemned Republicans’ “brand of you’re-on-your-own economics.”

“We can’t go back to this brand of you’re-on-your-own economics,” he said to a crowd of roughly 700 at the Capital Hilton. Tickets to the fundraising event cost $100.

“We are not a country that was built on the idea of survival of the fittest,” Obama said, invoking populist undertones. “We were built on the idea that we survive as a nation. We thrive when we work together, all of us.”

The woman was also a registered lobbyist, you know, the kind Obama pledged not to allow to work in his administration.

(The Hill) — President Obama has picked a strong advocate of immigration reform to head the Domestic Policy Council.

The White House announced Tuesday that Cecilia Munoz, a former senior vice president of the National Council of La Raza, to replace Melody Barnes at the top of the council. White House press secretary Jay Carney announced the appointment during his press breifing.

Munoz is now serving as the White House’s director of intergovernmental affairs and is in charge of outreach to state and local governments.

“The president has asked, she has accepted,” Carney said.

Munoz is an immigration expert who worked for the Naitonal Council of La Raza, the largest Latino civil rights and advocacy organization in the U.S., until 2009 when she joined the administration. The group works to improve opportunities for Hispanic Americans and advocates legislation that would provide a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants.
