FEARING DEFEAT, OBAMA NOW EMBRACES PACS HE CRITICIZED IN 2010

President Barack Obama’s campaign is asking top fundraisers to support a Democratic-leaning outside group that is backing the president’s re-election bid, reversing Obama’s opposition to “super” political action committees, which can spend unlimited amounts of cash to influence elections.

Obama’s campaign urged wealthy fundraisers in a Monday night conference call to support Priorities USA, a super PAC led by two former Obama aides that has struggled to compete with the tens of millions of dollars collected by Republican-backed outside groups.

Obama has opposed the Supreme Court’s 2010 Citizens United decision that stripped away some limits on campaign contributions. The new super PACs can’t coordinate directly with campaigns, but many have played a major role in the Republican primary contests, raising millions of dollars to use in negative advertising in early contests such as Iowa, South Carolina and Florida.

Obama campaign manager Jim Messina said in an email to supporters Monday that the president’s campaign “can’t allow for two sets of rules” in which the Republican presidential nominee benefits from “unlimited spending and Democrats unilaterally disarm.”

“We decided to do this because we can’t afford for the work you’re doing in your communities, and the grassroots donations you give to support it, to be destroyed by hundreds of millions of dollars in negative ads,” Messina said.

“The president’s views of the influence of the Citizens United case haven’t changed,” White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said during today’s press briefing. “He expressed them a few days ago and will continue to express them.”

“The campaign has made clear that they cannot engage in this campaign, they cannot compete effectively, if they play by two sets of rules,” Carney said. He also noted the importance of superPACs in the Republican primary, as he suggested that Republicans are more enthusiastic about having their superPACs than Obama is about his. “I think that distinction will be clear to voters who care about this issue,” Carney said.

I came across this bit of graffiti in my daily travels in Williamsburg today. How clever these monstrous little beasts are! Mocking the catch-phrase slogan of one of last lines of defense against Islamic terrorism–citizens coming forward with tips on possible threats. I guess these idiots didn’t lose anyone on 9/11, so it’s all just one big joke. A punch line.

Additionally, and no less loathsome, attacking the truth is a long-loved tactic of the Left. They provide harbor, cover and comfort to our enemies.
Hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil.

Here is an idea. Conservatives take over the presidency and congress. Then they get rid of ALL liberal judges! Get rid of all liberal and islamic leaning idiots in the state department. Same with the DOJ. And then close down CAIR and any other terrorist associated islamic group! Arrest all occupiers and deport them. Then tax all liberal hollywood idiots 100% on all their income! Put a fat tax on liberal fatboys Al Gore and Michael Moore, a very high fat tax!

Students at a high school in Boca Raton, Florida, must step over rivers of urine and endure the stench of rancid waste after a plan to bring ‘green’ waterless urinals into bathrooms backfired.

School officials at Spanish River High School thought they had found an environmentally-friendly, cost-saving solution for their bathrooms when they installed Falcon Waterfree urinals in their boys bathrooms.

But with no water moving through the school’s copper pipes to flush the urine into the sewer system, the waste produced noxious gases that ate through the metal, leaving leaky pipes that allowed urine to drip into walls and flow onto floors.

‘It was pretty disgusting,’ school board chairman Frank Barbieri told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

‘The girls had to step over a river of urine. I could smell it as soon as I walked into the hallway.’

ROCKLEDGE, Fla. (WaPo) — The nation’s jobless rate has declined to its lowest level in three years, a fact that has left Jamie Bean, an unemployed air-conditioner repairman, feeling more left out than ever.

Bean, 36, lost his job in December. Now he is scrambling to keep up with child-support payments to his wife, who is also unemployed. “As it stands now, I can’t afford to get divorced,” he said, managing a wry smile.

Bean’s predicament is not unlike that of many people who have a high school education or less. Not only were they hit especially hard by the recession but they have continued losing ground in the recovery that has followed.

By disproportionate numbers, these Americans have given up looking for work, making the nation’s recovery appear better than it is. If the unemployment rate counted the 2.8 million people who want jobs but have stopped looking, it would sit at 9.9 percent rather than its current 8.3 percent.

###

(Bloomberg) — Federal Reserve Chairman Ben S. Bernanke said the 8.3 percent rate of unemployment in January understates weakness in the U.S. labor market.

“It is very important to look not just at the unemployment rate, which reflects only people who are actively seeking work,” Bernanke said today in response to questions at a hearing before the Senate Budget Committee in Washington. “There are also a lot of people who are either out of the labor force because they don’t think they can find work” or in part-time jobs.

The jobless rate unexpectedly fell to 8.3 percent in January, a government report showed on Feb. 3. Bernanke’s remarks indicate that his view that the labor market is a “long way” from returning to normal hasn’t changed since he used the same phrase when he testified to the House Budget Committee on Feb. 2.

“The 8.3 percent no doubt understates the weakness of the labor market in some broad sense,” Bernanke said today, while noting that some job indicators are improving.

It’s almost like the ACLU doesn’t want to defend Christians.

Beltway Confidential:

The American Civil Liberty Union announced today that President Obama’s decision to mandate coverage for birth control does not violate religious liberty.

The ACLU’s Alicia Gay warns that the “powerful lobbying arm of the Catholic Church” mistakenly claims that the HHS contraception mandate violates their religious liberty.

Individuals who choose not to pay for employees’ contraceptives, warns the ACLU, forces their beliefs on their employees.

Just one more bit of madness from those that Obama, Pelosi, Reid and all other liberals call the greatest movement in the USA, dirtbag occupiers.

Dateline Portland, Oregon – February 7, 2012: Violence/Language warning. Viewer Discretion Is Advised. What was supposed to be another “Peaceful Protest” by Occupy Portland ran hopelessly awry and out of control this evening. The self described mob shouted profanity, broke windows, and sought to intimidate police and citizen journalists who would try and film it. Some occupiers overturned trash cans while others seemingly not in agreement with the vandals, uprighted the cans and tried to clean up the mess. Portland Police responded with the riot squad. A total of ten arrests were made, three caught on film, with two of the perps identifying themselves and claiming that they were just walking down the sidewalk and were pushed into the street. One claims the cops attacked him with a bottle. One of those arrested identifies herself as a “Emmalyn Garrett.” The other identifies himself as “Effy Artinez” (SP?). Chants made by the Occu-Mob included “Fu*k the Police!,” “All Cops Are Bastards,” and “America Has Got to Go!” Again, viewer discretion is advised.

Oh, okay for liberal black democrats to have mistresses, but not white republicans? Ah, the duplicity of these idiots! And yes, like father, like son! Seems to run in the family, get a mistress son, I have one or two.

(The Hill) — Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. denied rules were broken when a donor purchased a plane ticket for a woman he had an affair with.

The House Ethics Committee may be probing a second allegation that Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-Ill.) broke House rules, according to the Chicago lawmaker.

Jackson, speaking before the Chicago Tribune’s editorial board on Monday, vehemently denied any wrongdoing, saying that a campaign donor’s purchase of a plane ticket for a woman he had an extramarital affair with, though at his behest, did not break the chamber’s rules.

“[It was] not a personal benefit to me, I don’t believe, under the House rules. A benefit to the person for whom he bought the ticket. He didn’t buy tickets for me. Did I direct him? I did,” said Jackson, according to the Chicago Tribune.

News of the affair and of Jackson’s request of longtime fundraiser Raghuveer Nayak to buy at least one ticket for the woman first surfaced in 2010 months before voters decided whether to send the veteran lawmaker back to Capitol Hill.

Mitt Romney Lose the Iowa Caucus?

Okay, new breaking news here. Seems like a town in Iowa may have recorded the wrong number of votes for Mitt Romney. From the 2 votes he received to 22 that were recorded.

Caucus night was chaotic in many places, with hundreds of voters, candidates showing up and the throngs of media who followed. The world’s eyes were on Iowa. But in the quiet town of Moulton, Appanoose County, a caucus of 50 people may just blow up the results.

Edward True, 28, of Moulton, said he helped count the votes and jotted the results down on a piece of paper to post to his Facebook page. He said when he checked to make sure the Republican Party of Iowa got the count right, he said he was shocked to find they hadn’t.

“When Mitt Romney won Iowa by eight votes and I’ve got a 20-vote discrepancy here, that right there says Rick Santorum won Iowa,” True said. “Not Mitt Romney.”

True said at his 53-person caucus at the Garrett Memorial Library, Romney received two votes. According to the Iowa Republican Party’s website, True’s precinct cast 22 votes for Romney.

“This is huge,” True said. “It essentially changes who won.”

A spokeswoman with the Iowa Republican Party said True is not a precinct captain and he’s not a county chairperson so he has no business talking about election results. She also said the party would not be giving interviews about possible discrepancies until the caucus vote is certified.

(PTI) — Leading Islamic seminary Darul Uloom Deoband has issued a fatwa against manufacturing and selling of firecrackers, saying it was against Sharia law.

Manufacturing and selling of firecrackers is against Sharia law, and bursting of crackers is misuse of money, the fatwa said, adding that men who misuse money are the “brothers of devil.”

The fatwa was issued on a query from a man involved in the business of manufacturing firecrackers.

Keep in mind this is the same woman who was brought to tears over fears of Tea Partiers turning violent.

Reflections on Occupy Wall Street From Nancy Pelosi, Alice Walker, Arianna Huffington & Others — HuffPo

Nancy Pelosi, House Democratic leader, first female Speaker of the House

“The level of civic engagement we’ve seen from ordinary Americans in recent months has strengthened our democracy. Americans must come together to demand the change they want to see in their lives.

Women have always been agents of change, or what I like to call ‘magnificent disrupters.’ They are unsatisfied with the status quo, and always demanding progress — on behalf of their children, their families and their communities.”

(so to eliminate the tears, she backs the most violent protesters ever to come on the scene. what a dumb woman she is)

Then there is she with a very vivid imagination, either that or she has no brain and just makes up stuff like this:

House Minority Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., today attacked House Republicans for passing legislation that would allegedly “destroy 2 million jobs,” as her office claimed that the Obamacare repeal bill alone would “destroy more than 300,000 jobs,” according to her office.

“One year ago the Republican majority was sworn into office,” Pelosi said during a press briefing today in which she called for House Republicans to abbreviate their adjournment and return to Congress. “Since that time we have seen no major job agenda put forward. We have seen a budget that would break the Medicare guarantee. This is just in opposition to everything this country needs.” She added that House Republicans should be “right here in this Capitol” working on legislation such as the payroll tax cut extension.
