Most Expensive Starbucks Drink to Date
Geesh…I know too many people who plop down 5 to 10 bucks for some crap coffee concoction at starbucks. But this guy? Takes the freaking cake!
Logan A. Warren of Geek on Call has reportedly set a new world record for most expensive Starbucks drink. Congrats?
Logan says a “laughing barista” spent 30 minutes helping him concoct a Trenta monstrosity that set him back an eye-opening $23.60.
That’s nearly three bucks pricier than the previous most expensive Starbucks drink. Hooray?
So what was in Logan’s lavish libation?
16 shots of espresso, a shot of soy milk, caramel flavoring, banana puree, strawberry puree, vanilla beans, Matcha powder, protein powder, and a drizzle of caramel and mocha.
The so-called (by me) Hangover Marauder clocks in at a heart-stopping-and-restarting 1,400mg of caffeine — that’s as much as 14 regular cups of coffee!
And the taste? “Tolerable, but not good.”
(note to all, a simple cup of coffee for a buck is better than any concoction at starbucks, take my word for it)

American motorists have seen the national average for a gallon of regular gasoline rise above $3.50 a gallon on just three occasions, but it has never happened this early in the year. Analysts say it’s likely a sign that pain at the pump will rise to some of the highest levels ever seen later this year.
In 2008, average gasoline prices had hit inflation-adjusted records nationally by the summer, but they didn’t climb above $3.50 a gallon across the U.S. that year until April 21, according to the AAA Fuel Gauge Report. It happened again last year, but not until March 6.
But $3.50 a gallon gasoline is already here in 2012, weeks before refineries typically shut down for springtime maintenance, and weeks before the states switch from their less expensive winter blends of gasoline to more complicated and pricier summer blends.
“This definitely sets the stage, potentially, for much higher prices later this year,” said Brian L. Milne, refined fuels editor for Telvent DTN, a commodity information services firm. “There’s a chance that the U.S. average tops $4 a gallon by June, with some parts of the country approaching $5 a gallon.”

By Friday, February 10th, an estimated 500 Europeans had died from the freezing weather gripping the continent. This is the price they and British citizens are paying for embracing the global warming hoax, spending billions for wind power when they should have been building coal-fired and other sources of energy to heat their homes and businesses.
As the British daily, The Telegraph, reported on Friday, “Serbia has started implementing power cuts in a desperate bid to stave off the collapse of its national grid as the country suffers the effects of days of freezing temperatures.”
I and others have been warning for years that the Earth has been cooling since 1998 and that the planet is on the cusp of a new ice age because the average length of an interglacial period of warmth between such ages is now coming to an end after the passage of some 11,500 years.
All aspects of global warming legislation and spending programs must be utterly reversed if we are not going to see huge losses of life and the disruption of entire economies.
The Ottawa Citizen published an Agence France Presse article on Friday reporting that “Thick ice closed vast swaths of the Danube on Thursday, crippling shipping on Europe’s busiest waterway, as the death toll from bitter cold across the continent rose…as it has every day for nearly two weeks.” The report noted that “Navigation was impossible or restricted in Serbia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary and Austria, as ice covered the river or formed dangerous floes in shipping lanes.”
No shipping means no delivery of coal and oil and no shipping of food and other necessities. Europe is freezing over as the United States has been experiencing an unusually mild winter thus far. That, too, is likely to yield to the increased cooling of the planet and then, maybe, Americans will realize the threat to their lives that the closing of coal-fired plants, instigated by the Environmental Protection Agency, really means.
In England, the Mail, reported on Sunday, February 12th, that large numbers of its elderly citizens are being “frozen to death as fuel bills soar: hypothermia cases among the elderly double in five years.” England, now gripped by foolish green notions of renewable energy, has covered itself with wind turbines, despoiling its countryside and coasts while proving unreliable and incapable of meeting its energy needs.

America and the rest of the world have been horribly deceived by the United Nations Intergovernmental Climate Change Panel that continues to drive the global warming hoax. The lying scientists who got on the global warming gravy train, the politicians that embraced it, and the media that misled millions are all culpable, all responsible.
They should be driven from office, defunded, and chased through the streets like villagers in pursuit of Frankenstein.
People are freezing to death in their homes and in the streets. What will it take to drive a stake into the heart of the global warming monster?

(Mother Jones) — I’m sure this won’t make lefties start feeling warm fuzzies toward Guantanamo Bay, but the Navy is apparently trying to make the Cuban base green. McClatchy reports the effort comes complete with bicycling cops, a 270-foot-tall windmill, and solar-powered floodlights.
There are still 171 prisoners held at Gitmo, along 1,850 members of the military and contractors. The base spends $11.7 million a year on power and water, according to the article, which is among the reasons the Department of Defense is trying to make its energy use more sustainable:
Everything from diesel fuel to spare parts arrives by ship or aircraft, more than tripling the price of power, according to base estimates.
( I have an idea. Close the damn base down, give it back to Cuba, and put all those terrorists in a deep hole somewhere with nothing to eat but bacon. Oh, and finally open up trade with Cuba. I would love to have some real Cuban cigars!)

Today the Obama Administration launched the return of the truth team goon squads.
ABC reported:
The Obama campaign is today beginning a new effort to enlist and educate at least 2 million supporters for a “grassroots communications team” they’re calling the Truth Team.
“The goal is to ensure that when Republicans attack President Obama’s record, grassroots supporters can take ownership of the campaign and share the facts with the undecided voters in their lives,” the campaign said in a statement.
The teams will be first launched in 13 “swing states,” including Iowa, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Minnesota, Nevada, Ohio and Virginia.
The rollout also includes a social media blitz, directing supporters to three new websites: KeepingHisWord.com, which highlights Obama’s record and “promises kept”; KeepingGOPHonest.com, which highlights GOP policy positions; and AttackWatch.com, which fact-checks claims made against Obama on the campaign trail.
“If the other guys are going to run a campaign based on misrepresenting the president’s record – and their own – we have two options: sit back and let these lies go unchallenged, or fight back with the truth,” deputy Obama campaign manager Stephanie Cutter said in an email. “We’re fighting back.”

Neil Cavuto reported today that the Obama campaign is trying to recruit two million people to respond to Republican attacks against the president. On Your World presidential candidate Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) sarcastically responded to the team, “I’ve been waiting so long to hear the truth … two million people rounded up to tell me what the truth is. Sounds more to me like maybe a propaganda team.”
He said being on the receiving end of attacks is what politics is about, but to round up a team to tell people that it’s “the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth” is “silly.”

When the Congressional Budget Office first scored President Obama’s first stimulus program, they predicted it would cost $787 billion through 2019. But while $733 billion of Obama’s stimulus was spent through 2011, the law set in motion billions more in spending for years to come.
Last week, when the CBO released it’s annual Budget and Economic Outlook, it upped the final cost of the stimulus to $831 billion through 2019. In an earlier blog post, the CBO explained why the final stimulus price tag has risen by almost $60 billion.

(Poll Position) — Most Americans believe the U.S. should reduce or eliminate its more than $1 billion a year in financial aid to Egypt.
In our national scientific telephone poll, we put this question to Americans: “Do you believe that the U.S. should maintain, reduce, or halt providing Egypt with more than $1 billion a year in U.S. financial aid?”
In response, 14% said maintain the aid the $1 billion+ a year in aid, 44% said reduce the aid, and 33% said halt the aid altogether.
Along partisan lines, independents (43%) and Republicans (40%) most favored ending U.S. aid to Egypt.

Surprising to me was Richards’ unquestioned prominence at the White House. Why did the mainstream media not question an obvious benefactor of the contraceptive mandate being in on the conversation? Richards is truly in the inner circle. Pro-lifers knew Richards had influence, but to see in writing just exactly how much weight she carries is informative.

President Obama’s fourth budget has now been released, which allows for a relatively full accounting of deficit spending during his four years in office. The picture isn’t pretty, but it is revealing.
According to the White House’s own figures (see table S-1 here for 2011 to 2013, and table S-1 here for 2010), the actual or projected deficit tallies for the four years in which Obama has submitted budgets are as follows: $1.293 trillion in 2010, $1.300 trillion in 2011, $1.327 trillion in 2012, and $901 billion in 2013. In addition, Obama is responsible for the estimated $200 billion (the Congressional Budget Office’s figure) that his economic “stimulus” added to the deficit in 2009. Moreover, he shouldn’t get credit for the $149 billion in TARP (Troubled Asset Relief Program) repayments made in 2010 and 2011 to cover most of the $154 billion in bank loans that remained unpaid at the end of the 2009 fiscal year — loans that count against President Bush’s 2009 deficit tally.
Adding all of this up, deficit spending during Obama’s four years in the White House (based on his own figures) will be an estimated $5.170 trillion — or $5,170,000,000,000.00.
To help put that colossal sum of money into perspective, if you take our deficit spending under Obama and divide it evenly among the roughly 300 million American citizens, that works out to just over $17,000 per person — or about $70,000 for a family of four.

President Obama’s Treasury Secretary argued this morning that spending cuts and entitlement reform would hurt the economy more than tax increases on “the top 2 percent” of Americans.
“These revenue increases are focused on the top 2 percent of American taxpayers, not the remaining 98 percent,” Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner told the Senate Finance Committee today. “The increases in revenue we propose — which are roughly one percent, I say one percent of GDP — if structured as we propose, we believe would not have a material adverse impact on economic growth, particularly if compared to a comparable reduction in, for example, Medicare benefits or spending on infrastructure.”

Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., talked down fear of the Muslim Brotherhood’s control in Egypt, as he defended United States foreign aid to Egypt, suggesting that secularists might block the worst forms of Sharia law.
“I’m not clear whether — how the Muslim Brotherhood is going to be,” McCain told Sean Hannity last night. “There are other representatives in parliament. I know that they will be an elected government,” he said.
McCain struck an optimistic tone when Hannity observed that the Egyptian people support Sharia law. “Well, first of all, I’m not clear what kind of Sharia law they are going to impose,” the senator said. “There are many secular and democratically inclined people who were part of that government,” he noted — but he also acknowledged that there “extremists” in Egyptian parliament, who “hopefully . . . will not achieve power.”

Valentine’s Day 2012….
Hard to believe but today is my wife and I’s 13th wedding anniversary! Yes, we actually got married in Texas (yes, dragged her from Iowa to Texas way back when) on Valentine’s Day. Had to wait at the courthouse for the judge to come down on his day off (this was a saturday) plus a witness to be found. Very quick ceremony for sure!
Then it was to San Antonio to spend our honeymoon.
And harder to believe, but we have 5 (five!) grandkids who are older than we have been married.
So, find a grandmother like I did, and marry her!

Sen. John Cornyn says Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. is “playing politics” with the nation’s anti-terrorism efforts and has compromised national security and put the lives of military personnel at risk.
The Texas Republican used a Saturday speech at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington to rail against the attorney general, calling him “hyper-partisan” and “dangerously ideological.”
“Holder has ignored genuine cases of voter intimidation, and he has failed to vigorously enforce the right of our men and women in uniform deployed abroad to be able to cast their ballot,” he said. “Is this the kind of behavior that instills complete confidence in the President of the United States?”
Mr. Cornyn, chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Campaign and a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, also took Mr. Holder — who was appointed by President Obama — to task for releasing previously classified memos on U.S. interrogation methods of suspected terrorist “simply because he didn’t agree with the Bush administration anti-terrorism policies.”
“Holder decided to provide sensitive information to our nation’s enemies and to give our allies fresh cause to worry about our trustworthiness,” he said at CPAC, one of the nation’s premier annual gatherings of conservative activists. “Playing politics with the war on terrorism is unacceptable.”

The White House announced plans on Monday to help “Arab Spring” countries swept by revolutions with more than $800 million in economic aid, while maintaining U.S. military aid to Egypt.
In his annual budget message to Congress, President Barack Obama asked that military aid to Egypt be kept at the level of recent years — $1.3 billion — despite a crisis triggered by an Egyptian probe targeting American democracy activists.
The proposals are part of Obama’s budget request for fiscal year 2013, which begins October 1. His requests need the approval of Congress, where some lawmakers want to cut overseas spending to address U.S. budget shortfalls and are particularly angry at Egypt.
Obama proposed $51.6 billion in funding for the U.S. State Department and foreign aid overall, when $8.2 billion in assistance to war zones is included. The “core budget” for the category would increase by 1.6 percent, officials said.
Most of the economic aid for the Arab Spring countries — $770 million — would go to establish a new “Middle East and North Africa Incentive Fund,” the president said in his budget plan.

The Defense Department may have to force soldiers, Marines or other members of the military out of the services for the first time since the aftermath of the Cold War to achieve the spending reductions in its budget proposal.
The Pentagon plans to cut 67,100 soldiers from active and reserve Army units and the Army National Guard in the five years starting Oct. 1, as well as 15,200 from the active and reserve ranks of the Marine Corps as part of an effort to save $487 billion over a decade, according to the budget sent to Congress today. The Navy and Air Force would lose fewer people — 8,600 and 1,700 respectively — because of their role in a strategic shift toward the Asia-Pacific region and the Middle East.
The military will first try buying out contracts or offering bonuses for people to leave, while working to keep those with valuable specialties such as cyber warfare and acquisitions, according to Travis Sharp, a fellow at the Center for a New American Security, a Washington policy group, who attended a Pentagon briefing for analysts last month.

Libya Tells UN Rights Council: ‘Gays Threaten Continuation of Human Race’

GENEVA, Feb. 13 – Gays threaten the continuation of the human race, Libya’s delegate told a planning meeting of the UN Human Rights Council today, reported the Geneva-based UN Watch monitoring group. It was the first appearance in the 47-nation body by the post-Gaddafi government, whose membership was restored in November following Libya’s suspension in March.
Protesting the council’s first panel discussion on discrimination and violence based on sexual orientation, scheduled for March 7th, Libya’s representative told the gathering of ambassadors today that LGBT topics “affect religion and the continuation and reproduction of the human race.” He added that, were it not for their suspension, Libya would have opposed the council’s June 2011 resolution on the topic.
