You know, it is something when all those democrats toe the party line and go out and try to convince people that being unemployed is not bad, that getting an unemployment check is what helps stimulate our economy. Reading between the lines, I really get the notion that the democrats really, really, want more unemployment so that more and more people will be dependent on the government and of course vote democrat to get more and more benefits. Just me, could be not you.
Valerie Jarrett: ‘People Who Receive that Unemployment Check Go Out and Spend It and Help Stimulate the Economy’
This evening, speaking at North Carolina Central University in Durham, North Carolina, White House senior adviser Valerie Jarrett said that folks getting and spending unemployment checks is a healthy thing . . . because it stimulates the economy:
“Even though we had a terrible economic crisis three years ago, throughout our country many people were suffering before the last three years, particularly in the black community,” Jarrett said. “And so we need to make sure that we continue to support that important safety net. It not only is good for the family, but it’s good for the economy. People who receive that unemployment check go out and spend it and help stimulate the economy, so that’s healthy as well.”
(and have you noticed that all those that spout this do not have to ever worry about getting such an unemployment check?)
Middle of February. And here in Iowa? No freaking snow! None on the ground as it is all melted and in the ground since the last snow fall. Sun right now yet again shining, and it is 52F out there. What is up with this? To see brown ground, to see some plants actually putting up green shoots now instead of a month or two from now? Like the wife said, enjoy it and shut up!
Of course, it is good for our electric usage and the bills we receive. To not use as much to keep the heat going.
US troops now in 4 African countries to fight LRA
NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) — U.S. troops helping in the fight against a brutal rebel group called the Lord’s Resistance Army are now deployed in four Central African countries, the top U.S. special operations commander for Africa said Wednesday.
The U.S. announced in October it was sending about 100 U.S. troops – mostly special operations forces – to Central Africa to advise in the fight against the LRA and its leader Joseph Kony, a bush fighter wanted by the International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity.
Rear Adm. Brian L. Losey, the top U.S. special operations commander for Africa, said the U.S. troops are now stationed in bases in Uganda, Congo, South Sudan and Central African Republic.
President Obama and his West Wing aides ignored a subpoena of documents pertaining to the Solyndra loan guarantee even after congressional investigators met with White House officials to negotiate the scope of the subpoena, according to the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
“The White House’s failure to comply with today’s document deadline is a sad milestone on the path chosen by this administration to obstruct and delay our investigation rather than cooperate and help deliver answers for taxpayers,” committee chairman Fred Upton, R-Mich., and Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee chairman Cliff Stearns R-Fla., said in a statement this evening.
House investigators requested 12 categories of documents designed to explore a range of issues, such as Obama donor and Solyndra investor George Kaiser’s role in the solar company receiving a loan guarantee.

The Defensive Internet
The Internet has a persecution complex. And why shouldn’t it? With each session of congress arrive new laws aiming to “protect” rights holders at all costs. With each year organizations like the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) and Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) seem ever closer to lining file-sharers up next to terrorists and drug users as good, old-fashioned American Strawmen. And who does the Internet have to trust to protect it from over-reaching legislation and fiscally-polyamorous lobbyists? With a few well informed, hard working and impossibly patient exceptions like congresswoman Zoe Lofgren, the recent Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and Protect IP Act (PIPA) hearings did not-much-at-all to inspire in anyone the government’s ability to protect or manage one of our countries most important resources. Insert “series of tubes” joke here, I think.
Venezuelan strongman Hugo Chávez is seeking a seat on the United Nations’ Human Rights Council, the group U.N. Watch reports. The independent watchdog group also says that Pakistan is additionally “slated to run unopposed for seats on the UN’s 47-nation Human Rights Council this year.”
“It’s an outrage,” U.N. Watch executive director Hillel Neuer says in a press release, “due to their poor records on human rights protection at home and on human rights promotion at the UN.”
Neuer explains why it is ridiculous Venezuela could even be considered for such a position. “These are hypocritical candidacies. Chavez throws judges and critics in jail, bullies young student activists and uses his UN vote to shield the atrocities of others. Venezuela just voted against UN action on the horrific massacres perpetrated by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.”
(but, he will probably get the seat. the united nations is moving so far to the left)
This is to show you how freaking dumbass those islamic clerics really are. Now saying soccer is a jewish conspiracy!
(MEMRI) — Following are excerpts from a religious program featuring Egyptian cleric Mahmoud Al-Masri, which aired on Al-Nas TV on February 7, 2012:
Mahmoud Al-Masri: The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, which were written in order to corrupt the Islamic people, included corruption by distracting Muslims through soccer. They use soccer to distract the Islamic peoples.
Does not Obama realize that this will piss off his Occupy buddies? And the hollywood liberals?
President Obama will ask Congress to scrub the corporate tax code of dozens of loopholes and subsidies to reduce the top rate to 28 percent, down from 35 percent, while giving preferences to manufacturers that would set their maximum effective rate at 25 percent, a senior administration official said on Tuesday.
Mr. Obama also would establish a minimum tax on multinational corporations’ foreign earnings, the official said, to discourage “accounting games to shift profits abroad” or actual relocation of production overseas.
With the framework for changes that the Treasury secretary, Timothy F. Geithner, will outline on Wednesday, Mr. Obama will enter an election-year debate with Republicans in Congress and in the presidential race who seek even lower taxes for businesses. But an overhaul of the corporate code is unlikely this year, given that political backdrop and the complexity of an undertaking that would generate a lobbying frenzy as businesses vie to defend old tax breaks or win new ones.
The campaign of Mitt Romney, a Republican candidate for president, signaled that he would outline on Wednesday an expanded version of his own tax proposals, which he said on Tuesday would call for a “flatter, fairer, broader-based tax system” that would do more to encourage economic growth. The various Republican candidates, who are scheduled to debate on Wednesday night, have called for cutting the corporate income tax, differing somewhat in the details.
Hey, Nobel Laureate Economists who 30 years later still do not believe in Reaganomics, Robert Winnett and James Kirkup of the Telegraph in England have some news for you: Raising income tax rates reduced the amount of money Her Majesty’s Treasury received.
The Treasury received £10.35 billion in income tax payments from those paying by self-assessment last month, a drop of £509 million compared with January 2011. Most other taxes produced higher revenues over the same period. Senior sources said that the first official figures indicated that there had been “maneuvering” by well-off Britons to avoid the new higher rate. The figures will add to pressure on the Coalition to drop the levy amid fears it is forcing entrepreneurs to relocate abroad.
The self-assessment returns from January, when most income tax is paid by the better-off, have been eagerly awaited by the Treasury and government ministers as they provide the first evidence of the success, or failure, of the 50p rate. It is the first year following the introduction of the 50p rate which had been expected to boost tax revenues from self-assessment by more than £1billion.
Money is fungible and the rich are not nailed to the British Islands. Tax refugees fleeing England’s usurious tax rates have been the rule throughout my 58 years of existence. The effect of the 50% tax rate was predictable. Arthur Laffer explained it all when he scribbled the Laffer Curve on a napkin. There is an optimum point of taxation. Britain raised the taxes beyond that optimum.
(could be a lesson here for the liberals in our country?)
(CNSNews.com) – In keeping with his “We Can’t Wait” initiative, President Barack Obama has once again asserted that if Congress does not enact his policies in the future, he will continue to forge ahead on his own.
“When Congress refuses to act, Joe and I are going to act,” Obama said on Tuesday, with Vice President Joe Biden at his side. “In the months to come, wherever we have an opportunity, we’re going to take steps on our own to keep this economy moving.”
Obama, speaking at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building near the White House, praised Congress for voting to extend the payroll tax cut. He said this helps the middle class, adding that he will fight for middle class voters regardless of what Congress does.
(again, rules and the law just do not apply to obama and his regime! people, this is (has been and will be) some scary shit when the president is allowed to create his own rules and laws)
What the hell? Artificial meat now? Bad enough tofu and other grasses and seeds are used to make a meat like substitute. Now lab grown meat….argh..
The world’s first test tube hamburger will be served up this October after scientists perfected the art of growing beef in the lab.
By generating strips of meat from stem cells researchers believe they can create a product that is identical to a real burger.
The process of culturing the artificial meat in the lab is so laborious that the finished product, expected to arrive in eight months’ time, will cost about £220,000 (EUR250,000).
But researchers expect that after producing their first patty they will be able to scale up the process to create affordable artificial meat products.
Mass-producing beef, pork, chicken and lamb in the lab could satisfy the growing global demand for meat – forecast to double within the next 40 years – and dramatically reduce the harm that farming does to the environment.
Last autumn the Telegraph reported that Prof Mark Post of Maastricht University in the Netherlands had grown small strips of muscle tissue from a pig’s stem cells, using a serum taken from a horse foetus.

Okay, this country has another nail that hurts. Instead of finding a job, or wanting a job, and with unemployment benefits running out, just go and say you are mentally ill.
Being unemployed for too long reportedly is driving people mad and costing taxpayers billions of dollars in mental illness and other disability claims.
The New York Post reported Sunday that as unemployment checks run out, many jobless are trying to gain government benefits by declaring themselves unhealthy.
More than 10.5 million people — about 5.3 percent of the population aged 25 and 64 — received disability checks in January from the federal government, the Post wrote, a 18 percent jump from before the recession.
Among those claiming disability, 43 percent are asking for benefits because of mental illness, the Post wrote. A growing number of those people are older, former white-collar workers.
Disability claims come from the Social Security Trust Fund, which is set to go broke in 2018. Congress last week agreed to dip into the revenue stream to give a 2-percentage point tax break to working Americans.
The Post noted that the more people file for disability claims, the better for the unemployment picture since those people are removed from the jobless rolls.

OW>>>>>this is so good. Must try it some day. Bacon strips and you dip them into fudge, caramel, etc.! Now why did I not think of this?
I was eating lunch and drinking my coffee with my 6-year-old and I asked her, “What is the 20th of February?”
She said “President’s Day!”
She is a smart kid, so, I asked her, “What does President’s Day mean?” I was waiting for something about Washington or Lincoln, etc.
She replied, “President’s Day is when President Obama steps out of the White House, and if he sees his shadow we have one more year of unemployment.”
You know, it hurts when hot coffee spurts out your nose.

WASHINGTON, Feb 18 (Reuters) – Winning The Future. Greater Together. We Don’t Quit.
They may not be official but those are all phrases that could in one form or another be candidates to become President Barack Obama’s re-election slogan.
Advisers say a fresh slogan to replace the winning “Change we can believe in” mantra of 2008, is unlikely to appear before Obama knows who his Republican opponent will be and starts big campaign travel swings, likely in the spring or summer.
His campaign posters now say simply, “Obama 2012.”
But Obama’s surrogates have roadtested some slogans in recent months, including “Winning The Future,” which the White House used to promote its budget, and “Greater Together,” which the campaign has used to brand its youth outreach effort.
A new tagline will have to reflect a new reality.
Obama is no longer a Washington outsider, unemployment is falling but still high, and economic insecurity for many voters is a huge concern that a simple slogan cannot overcome.
Obama is aware of that difficulty. He still refers to his old slogan at campaign fundraisers, emphasizing the “change” he has achieved, while dropping lines that could be test runs for a pitch to convince voters to give him another term.
“When you think about change that we can believe in, as hard as these last three years have been, don’t underestimate the changes we’ve made,” Obama said at a fundraiser in California this week.
“Inspiration is wonderful, nice speeches are wonderful, pretty posters, that’s great. But what’s required at the end of the day to create the kind of country we want is stick-to-it-ness. It’s determination. It’s saying, ‘We don’t quit.’”
In his State of the Union address last month, the president also played up the issue of economic fairness, which branding experts said could encapsulate his 2012 pitch.
Claims of inequality at the Oscars have rocked the Hollywood guild for years, with less than 4 per cent of awards being won by African Americans and only one award being given to a female director – Kathryn Bigelow; yet the academy has notoriously remained tight-lipped about its 5,765-strong voter roster.
A single statuette can add millions to box office revenues and propel an actor to instant stardom, but while winners reap the rewards, mystery still shrouds the voter-base – until now.
A study by the Los Angeles Times has finally unmasked the highly-secretive electorate, claiming to have identified 5,112 of the guild’s 5,765 voters, and finding that the voter-base is 94 per cent Caucasian and 77 per cent male.
The average age is 62 and only 14 per cent of members are under 50, according to the study. Only 2 per cent are black, less than 2 per cent are Latino, and 15 academy branches are exclusively made up of white males.
Curiously, a nun, bookshop owner and retired Peace Corps recruit are also listed as members, casting their ballots with the same clout as megastars George Clooney, Julia Roberts and Leonardo Di Caprio.
