Want BLT Flavored Chips with your BLT?

Tell you, go to the grocery store and see all the potato chip flavors there are. Got a flavor it seems for every taste. Some flavors we have found out are crappy tasting, others are just plain horrible. But now there is a new flavor of chips coming onto the market. Just in time for April, National BLT month. Compliments of Lay’s Potato Chip Company.

Would you like some BLT-flavored chips with that BLT? If the answer is yes, then you’re in luck — Lay’s recently released a new potato chip flavor called Classic BLT.

According to the Huffington Post, Lay’s Classic BLT potato chips were recently released nationwide. A typical BLT sandwich is made with bacon, lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise, and bread. But, is it possible for one potato chip to embody the complexities of an entire sandwich? The Huffington Post says yes. “It’s eerie that a potato chip can emulate the taste of a sandwich,” the article reports. “The flavors of toasted bread, bacon, lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise are all evident.”

The timing of Lay’s Classic BLT chips is kismet, because April happens to be National BLT Sandwich month. Now you can celebrate with BLT potato chips and sandwiches. According to Food Timeline, the BLT is a descendant of the Victorian-era tea sandwich. It was also probably inspired by the Club sandwich, which has similar ingredients. The first recipes for BLT sandwiches were published in the 1920s, but did not refer to the sandwich by its modern moniker. Instead, BLTs were originally called bacon sandwiches or tomato and bacon sandwiches.

My wife and I will probably buy one bag just to try out. Will see this week if they are in Fareway stores here in Iowa.

This story just shows you how much the freaking liberals have taken over our schools!

Smoking in the boys’ room? Skipping class? That’ll just get you an in-school suspension at Bladenboro Middle School in North Carolina. But hug a teacher? You’re out of there. Eighth-grader Ryan Blackmon said he went to embrace the teacher who broke up some horseplay between him and another student, but instead was suspended because he “hugged her with a tight grip,” according to the school report — a Level II violation of conduct policy. “I don’t understand how she could feel threatened if I was showing my gratitude, but she could have told me politely … to move away,” said the student, whose parents have filed a police report because the teacher’s grip left marks on Ryan’s arm.

Weekly Standard:

Access to the Obama White House is in direct correlation to the amount of money donated to the president’s reelection effort and the Democratic party, the New York Times reports today.

The Times reports: “those who donated the most to Mr. Obama and the Democratic Party since he started running for president were far more likely to visit the White House than others. Among donors who gave $30,000 or less, about 20 percent visited the White House, according to a New York Times analysis that matched names in the visitor logs with donor records. But among those who donated $100,000 or more, the figure rises to about 75 percent. Approximately two-thirds of the president’s top fund-raisers in the 2008 campaign visited the White House at least once, some of them numerous times.”

But the most explosive allegation in the news story comes from former Democratic congressman Patrick Kennedy, son of the late Ted Kenney, who calls what the Obama White House is doing “quid pro quo.”

Yes, so damn transparent of a presidency that was promised!

Your American hating liberal union members hard at work.

[Madison, Wisc...] Not long ago, it was unthinkable to disrespect the National Anthem in anyway whatsoever. However pro-labor union protesters showed no hesitation in crossing that line on Saturday in Madison, Wisconsin. As thousands prepared to gather for the Americans for Prosperity Tax Day Rally, a few protesters gathered at the edges of the to crowd show their contempt.

Another union related story. One that proves we have to get unions disbanded for good! Especially unions that ruin our schools and our children pulling shit like this!

NEW YORK — What are parents to do when their child comes home from school with stories about “this creepy guy in my class” — and it turns out to be the teacher?

That’s a very real concern for parents with children in New York City public schools, where 14 teachers of highly dubious character have been reinstated to the classroom — and two others have been given “desk duty” — thanks to appeals by their powerful teachers union, the United Federation of Teachers.

NYDailyNews.com reports that 16 teachers “kept their jobs after being brought up on egregious charges, some sexual, some involving excessive personal familiarity with students.”

A few examples:

Gym and health teacher Willie Laraque was charged with bending a male student over a desk, leaning in to him and saying, “I’ll show you what is gay.” The Daily News reports Laraque is back in the classroom after paying a $10,000 fine.

Norman Siegel, a high school teacher, was accused of pressing his genitalia against a female student’s leg. Siegel only received a 45-day unpaid suspension, “although the arbitrator found that the girl’s charge was likely true” and that Siegel “was previously accused of a similar offense,” the Daily News writes.

There’s also a case involving Edward Cascio, a gym teacher who accepted pornographic pictures from a student — of another student. Cascio was back at work after serving his three-month suspension.

The Obama administration has reached a settlement with more than 40 Indian tribes to resolve claims of mismanaged funds by the Department of the Interior.
After 22 months of negotiation, the U.S. Department of Justice agreed with tribal representatives for the government to pay more than $1 billion to 41 tribes.
Attorney General Eric Holder said the settlements “fairly and honorably resolve historical grievances over the accounting and management of tribal trust funds, trust lands and other non-monetary trust resources that, for far too long, have been a source of conflict between Indian tribes and the United States.” The settlement does not have to be approved by Congress because it comes out of the Treasury Department’s Judgment Fund.
The Interior Department became involved through its management of about 56 million acres of trust lands for federally-recognized tribes as well as 100,000 leases on these lands for uses ranging from timber harvesting to farming to oil and gas extraction.

Oh oh! Will this spell the end of Twinkies? Should everyone go and stock up now?

DALLAS –  The company that makes Twinkies, Wonder bread and Ding Dongs says it’s making a final offer to workers to accept cost-cutting before it asks a bankruptcy court to impose the cuts.

Hostess Brands Inc. wants the Teamsters and bakers’ unions to accept reduced pension benefits and changes in work rules to lower costs. It wants to outsource some delivery work.

The company said Saturday that if the unions reject the offer, it will push ahead with efforts in bankruptcy court to throw out the unions’ collective bargaining agreements. A union official warned that could lead to a strike.

Hostess Brands filed for Chapter 11 protection in January, its second trip through bankruptcy court in less than a decade. A trial to decide the fate of the union contracts is scheduled to start Tuesday.

Hostess wants to withdraw from some multi-employer pension plans, although it opened the door Saturday to possibly rejoining a few of the financially strongest plans. New hires would be covered by the same 401(k)-type retirement accounts used by nonunion and management employees.

The company’s new CEO, Gregory F. Rayburn, said Hostess wants to cut annual pension contributions from $103 million to $25 million. Hostess also wants to change work rules that sometimes require two trucks instead of one, and to outsource deliveries to small stores.

Ken Hall, general secretary-treasurer of the Teamsters, said the union would reject the company’s proposal and make a counteroffer Sunday. He said Hostess had provided only the barest details of how the new pensions program would work, and that employees already accepted big concessions in 2008.

Workers represented by the Teamsters and the bakery and confectionary workers’ unions voted in February to authorize a strike, and Hall vowed Saturday that workers would walk off the job if the bankruptcy judge agrees to the company’s cuts.

Rayburn said that if workers strike, the company will be forced to shut down and liquidate.

Longer Lives Adding Up Quickly

Technological and medical advances are allowing people around the globe to live longer, considerably driving up the cost of aging, says the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Not only do longer lifespans increase healthcare costs, they strain pension plans and drain retirement savings. The IMF is encouraging governments and privately owned enterprises to address this issue now, as lifespans and their attendant costs will only continue to rise. Measures that could help offset the increased costs of aging populations include raising the retirement age, increasing the taxes used to fund public pension plans, and cutting benefits. More …

Because it has no meaning—even in Latin—it does not draw attention away from a page’s overall presentation. Some versions include extra letters that were uncommon in Latin, such as z and k. What did the original text mean? More…
