White or Black, You keep your silverware. Latinos? Obama says NO!
This right here should prove to the latinos of this country that obama is not their man! The gall of his people to tell the latinos to hurry up and eat so the silverware can be collected BEFORE obama shows up and speaks to them! Hey, is obama afraid that some latino will attack him with a butter knife? Or fork? Or all the latinos will attack him?
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. –Does a fork or dinner knife pose an unacceptable danger to President Barack Obama?
One wouldn’t think so, given the hundreds of lunches and dinners he’s attended ranging from state dinners to political fundraisers to run-of-the-mill stops on the rubber-chicken circuit.
However, at one such lunch Friday afternoon, guests heard an unusual announcement that they needed to hand over their silverware for security reasons.
“It’s very important that you use your utensils as soon as possible,” National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials board member Raquel Regalado told about 1000 delegates at the group’s annual conference.
Regalado hurried the diners to finish up their salads and pre-cut chicken breasts, saying that the Secret Service required that there be no knives at the tables and that the forks be rounded up before Obama entered the room.
“As you know, we’re having another speaker and there is some Secret Service involved. So there’s a reason why there’s no knives at your table and the forks will be collected. … And I’m not joking,” Regalado told the audience in a ballroom at Disney’s Contemporary Resort at Walt Disney World. “So, like the good Hispanic mother I’m here to tell you to please, eat your lunch.”
A Secret Service spokesman confirmed that the agency made the request, but said such requirements are common at large events where the president speaks at about the same time people are dining.
“The Secret Service coordinates this process with staff and host committee to ensure tables are cleared of material that may be deemed hazardous prior to the arrival of the president,” Special Agent Max Milien told POLITICO. “Any implication that this was unique for this event is completely inaccurate.”
In other words, the announcement at the Latino officials’ event may have been unusual, but the removal of the silverware usually takes place without anyone realizing it’s a security measure.
Still, there are a wide variety of breakfasts, lunches and dinners the president attends where diners still have the full complement of silverware as Obama speaks.

The United Nations is preparing to finalize the terms of the Arms Trade Treaty at an upcoming July conference. Their hope is that the treaty will “create a level playing field for the global arms trade, bringing to it more accountability, openness and transparency.”
Level playing field, transparency…President Obama would definitely approve.
The target of the ATT, you ask? In addition to the Second Amendment, it seems everything from small arms and light weapons to tanks, heavy artillery, helicopters and aircraft. In a report by the UN Coordinating Action on Small Arms titled, “The Impact of Poorly Regulated Arms Transfers on the Work of the UN,” (not available online) CASA pointed to recent events in Libya, Syria and Sudan for the justification of ‘heavier conventional weapons’ being included. In terms of the small arms and light weapons, well, they’re primarily used in “modern day intra-state conflicts.” The point to take away is that the treaty would apply uniformly to both democratic states and dictatorial regimes, the latter of which makes up the majority of UN member states.
Nearly a year ago, U.S. Senators took concern with the scope of the ATT, which threatens Second Amendment rights.
The CASA report claims that “states have an inherent right to individual or collective self-defense” and that “the ATT does not aim to impede or interfere with the lawful ownership and use of weapons.” Yet, because of the ‘problem of diversion’ – transfer of weapons to the illicit market without proper control – “the arms trade must therefore be regulated in ways that would…minimize the risk of misuse of legally owned weapons.”

DNC chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) on Firday accused Mitt Romney of rooting against the recovery, pointing to a report that his campaign urged Florida Gov. Rick Scott to downplay his state’s economic success.
“Unfortunately, the Republicans in Congress continue to demonstrate that they’re rooting for failure, as evidenced, Soledad, by the Romney campaign telling my state’s governor they should tone down the progress and the celebration about the progress that our state’s made because that’s not in line with what the Romney campaign wants to telegraph about the president’s record on job creation,” Wasserman Schultz told CNN.
A spokesman for Scott denied the report Thursday, and the Romney campaign said the notion their candidate would ask Republican governors to downplay economic improvements was “not in line with Gov. Romney’s thoughts or his message.”

TAMPA, Fla., June 22 (UPI) – U.S. President Barack Obama told a campaign rally in Florida Friday the country needs “some middle class-out economics, some bottom-up economics.”
Speaking at Hillsborough Community College in Tampa, the president said the economy is growing, following the worst downturn since the Great Depression, “but it needs to grow faster.”
He said what’s holding back growth is “a stalemate between two fundamentally different views in Washington about which direction we should go in.” He told his audience Republicans, including presumptive presidential nominee Mitt Romney, “believe that we should go back to the top-down economics of the last decade.”
“They figure that if we simply eliminate regulations and cut taxes by trillions of dollars, then the market will solve all of our problems,” Obama said.

Did Obama assert executive privilege to bail out Holder before?
President Barack Obama may have actually asserted executive privilege once before to protect Attorney General Eric Holder from congressional scrutiny, documents and congressional records obtained by The Daily Caller indicate.
During Holder’s 2009 confirmation hearings, Texas Republican Sen. John Cornyn pressed Holder for details on the role he played in helping get Puerto Rican terrorists — members of the violent Armed Forces for National Liberation, who set off 120 bombs throughout the U.S. killing at least six Americans and permanently harming others — clemency during the Bill Clinton administration.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Holder drafted an “options memo” that allowed Clinton to grant commutations to the terrorists in the late 1990s when several high-ranking Department of Justice officials opposed the move. That options memo effectively facilitated clemency for those terrorists. Holder went against the DOJ’s Pardon Attorney Roger Adams’ “strong opposition to any clemency in several internal memos and a draft report recommending denial” and pushed to get the terrorists’ sentences commuted.
Shortly after Clinton granted the terrorists clemency, then House oversight committee Chairman Dan Burton — still a member of the committee now — launched an investigation into what happened. The “options memo” Holder drafted never was made public, and Clinton asserted executive privilege over many of the materials and figures involved, including that memo.
After Clinton left office, though, he waived all executive privilege assertions over “testimony of his former staff concerning these pardons [of Marc Rich and other controversial figures], or to other pardons and commutations he granted [including the FALN figures].”
